Socorro and her sons Cedric and Jesse are amazing people. Our stay at Del Mar Eco Lodge was one of the best experiences we've had. We are grateful for their hospitality and friendliness. They went above and beyond to have our needs met and make us feel at home. We had several conversations with Cedric about Puerto Rico itself, and traveling in general like good old friends. They provided us with information about beautiful spots to visit and who to contact for tours. The apartment has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. It's also clean and cozy :) Their two dogs Cero and Rufus were the icing on the cake! They are the friendliest most adorable dogs ever who greet you upon arrival!!!! (Dog lover talking!) During night hours little lights are turned on in the garden making it look like an enchanted fairy garden. My husband and I sat on beach chairs in the garden one stary night listening to a gorgeous choir of coquis. Playa Fortuna is walking distance from Del Mar. Playa Fortuna is a beautiful beach that meets Rio Grande to the left upon entering. It's an incredible sight! The neighborhood is full of friendly people. We met a man, Tato, who is now our friend :) All in all, best place to stay to experience the true essence of Puerto Rico!

We are very thankful for Socorro hospitality. The place is as described, quiet with lots of green grounds! The apartment is clean and organized. The Swimming pool is always clean and the water is very warm! In the evening you can relax with an outdoor yoga class! Down the street is the beach! A Very short walk! And a short drive will take you to los kioskos de luquillo, where you can eat good food! I hope to return in a very near future! Thanks again !!!

We had a great time with the Cedric, Socorro (and Jesse). We appreciated being in "real PR," not just tourist town. We got a feel for how friendly rural Puerto Ricans live, the realities of the economic realities, the friendly warm neighborhood. Del-Mar was an oasis in the midst.. clean, comfortable, adequate space and supplies, wonderful foliage, a well-cared for salt-water pool, easy access to the river with their kyacks and ocean. It was special to have time where the two meet. We had an easy day trip to El Yunque, snorkeling and the bioluminescent bay tour. It's a bit stressful figuring out all the details, getting from point A to point B, but our hosts were helpful any time of day with advice and tips. Cooking in was a bonus (no oven, but warming up leftovers and cooking stove top worked). And a massage on site and morning yoga topped off this unqiue adventure. We highly recommend it for a three or four day stop. With two teens and the heat of the day in unairconditioned main house (even though there was always a fabulous breeze by the water), a week would have gotten too long for us.

We had a great experience with Cedric, Socorro, and Jesse. I would definitely recommend a massage in the tree house. The beach was closer than we expected from the description and the view of el yunque from the river was incredible. It was close to the Luquillo Kiosks and to Fajardo for tours of the islands. We especially enjoyed the sound of the coqui every night before bed

Cedric and Soccoro host a chill, relaxing residence with a BEAUTIFUL garden. Local to Luquillo beach, on of the best in PR according to Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet. This is really a steal.

Short drive to beach and restaurants. Place is quiet and at night only hears sounds from the jungle. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Cedric & Socorro User ProfileCedric & Socorro is a superhost.

Hi, I'm Cedric, you can call me Ced.
I'm a percussionist, drummer and music teacher. Talking about myself is not my best quality so hopefully we'll just meet in person. I love all types of arts, nature, animals and meeting new people. I really like learning about other cultures, their music and ways of life. I know my way around the island VERY well and I'll be more than happy to help in any way I can! Adventures and other fun outdoors activities are something I try to enjoy often so feel free to ask, "What's there to do around here?" and I'll draw you a map to the Rainforest and on the way you can stop at the zip lining park or go horse back riding at the beach.
If I'm out at college during your stay my mom, Socorro, will be here to welcome you and assist you in anyway she can. We live in the house next door.

Socorro is a hard working wife, mother of two young men, massage therapist , nature lover, animal lover. Sixteen years in the Hotel Industry allowed her to dream about a Lodging place where guests can enjoy more than a roof and good food, but also experience our warm, rich, fun culture.

We enjoy long walks on the beach, kayaking and lite cooking (rather eat out any day). We live on premises, so we are available to our guests 24/7. We enjoy bike riding and the movies. YES, we have our outside movie projector ready for any given evening. Popcorn too. We are located a block away from the beach, two blocks away from the Mameyes River (great Kayaking area) and 25 minutes away from one of the 3 Bio-luminescent bays of the Island (only five known in the world). We are 5 minutes away from a Ranch that offers Horseback riding, Go Karts and Fourtracks rentals. Oh yes; we always have coconut water!!!
