This is just the right thing for your stay in Athens--a penthouse studio apartment, centrally-located, 7 minutes from the metro! The large, sunny terrace provides the perfect backdrop (and view) for your outdoor dining, cocktails and star-gazing!
The perfect place for your stay in Athens!
The main room has a double bed (it's a real bed!), is otherwise simply furnished, with internet connection at a small desk for your use. It's very bright, and French doors lead to a large balcony with table, chairs, plants, an awning (if it's a little too sunny for you!)--a perfect spot for your morning coffee, or romantic evening meals under the stars.
There is also a radio, DVD player and air conditioner/heater. There is a TV, but since the switch from analog to digital, we do not get any channels :(. However, you can watch DVDs. There is a small desk, and internet is available.
A small hallway leads off to the little kitchen (stove/oven and washing machine), where you can whip up a meal with the fresh ingredients you bought at the local farmer's market (on Saturday mornings). Next is the bathroom. There is a brand new solar heater for the water, so you have hot water all the time!
The apartment is on the top floor of a 6-storey building, and it's very safe. An elevator takes you to the 5th floor, then you walk up the last flight of stairs--yours is the only apartment on this top floor. A traditional bakery, coffee shops, and grocers are a few steps away, and the little square on the corner of Panormou offers a selection of cafes, restaurants and bars for evening entertainment if you don't want to stray too far. Otherwise, you're a 10-minute metro ride to Athens's trendiest areas, Psyrri, Monastiraki, and the tourist favourite, Plaka. Ambelokipoi (email hidden)ly neighbourhood, with all the conveniences you'll need, and very safe.
When you book, we send you a "user manual" with all the tips and info you need. It includes information about the apartment itself, as well as nearby amenities and some insider tips to help you enjoy Athens--restaurants only locals go to, off-the-beaten-track activities, and day trips and nearby sites.
Sheets and towels
It's also a 7 minute walk from the Ambelokipoi metro, which is right on the line which comes from the airport--very convenient for your arrival/departure. It's about a 30-minute ride from the airport; at last check, trains leave every 30 mins.
This is a great apartment for travellers wanting to get the most out of Athens the way an Athenian would.
Guests have access to the whole apartment alone (ie, there are no other rooms/guests there during your stay). There's a bathroom, a small kitchen, and a larger main room which opens onto the terrace on the top (6th) floor--noone else on that level, either!
We meet guests upon their arrival to show them around the apartment, give them the keys, and answer any questions about the neighbourhood or city. After that, we're accessible by phone or email!
This is a fun, lively neighbourhood favoured by families and students. There are restaurants and cafes, bakeries and small specialty shops on every corner (pastries, coffee, green grocers--whatever you need!). There is a weekly farmers' market in the square (2 blocks away) every Saturday morning--authentic fresh produce (and more!)
The apartment is very central--the metro (Ambelokipoi) is about 7 minutes away. As it's close to large streets (Alexandras, Panormou), it's close to buses and trolleys, too. Taxis are easy to find.
Small, clean, and quiet (except for soccer games which was exciting and entertaining to hear the stadium singing and chanting from the patio!) The neighborhood experience is excellent! Easy to travel to and from (near metro). Lots of places to eat, markets, and stores. I would recommend to anyone. The offsite hosts made everything simple!
Great location near to patisserie, station, parks, Lycavittus Hill and the metro. So once you have explored Athens it is a simple trip on the metro to Ambelokopi station, to the pastry shop and up to the flat for coffee and cake! What's not to like?
Jennifer and Christos worked hard to make things clear and to communicate that they wanted us to enjoy our stay. Thankyou!
The apartment is in a great location near the metro on the line to the airport. The best feature is the balcony; it was delightful to have breakfast there and enjoy the night air.
Everything went smoothly! Jennifer answered all my queries promptly and fully even while away on a field trip. Christos met me at the apartment and was very kind and helpful, showing me how everything worked and giving me directions around the neighbourhood. The apartment was exactly as advertised and the local area is very nice, within easy reach of the centre of Athens but away from the crowds. There are plenty of shops and places to eat in the vicinity and, since the apartment is on the top floor, it is quiet at night. I would definitely stay here again!
The apartment was great! Jennifer was really on top of communication, and Christos welcomed us at the apartment. Didn't spend much time in the apartment, but it was cozy and pleasant, while the terrace was truly lovely. We stayed here for the last part of our trip, and we were so happy with how it was so close to the metro line to the airport. Not very close to the more touristy areas, which was a nice change, but close enough to transportation to get to those areas.
The apartment is exactly as advertised and perfect for exploring Athens, with the Akropolis and downtown only 15 minutes away by metro. It is also great to relax on the balcony in the evening sunshine, or to have your breakfast there with baklava from the local bakery. Overall a great stay and about as "authentic" an Athens' experience as you could wish for. Jennifer and Christos were also both really helpful and accommodating in all respects. Will happily return there again.
Everything perfectly fine...
We didn't have the chance to meet Jennifer during our stay, but Christos met us at the apartment and gave us a warm and friendly introduction to the apartment and the neighborhood.
The apartment has everything you might need and our favorite part of it is the lovely balcony where we spent enjoying the evening breeze and sunset with a bottle of beer in hand (bought from the supermarket just 5 minutes walk away!)
The apartment is also fairly well located, relatively close to the metro station.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Jennifer and Christos' apartment and recommend it to everyone!
Surprisingly big apartment and rooftop balcony (not a shoebox!), located close to public transportation but far enough from the tourist areas of the city to give you a break from the crowds. Christos was helpful and timely when we met and Jennifer was always on top of communication.
I stayed a month at the apartment while working and travelling through Greece. It isn't the most modern of apartments, but it has everything you could possibly need and has a great terrace for when the weather is nice.
It is close to both the metro and the long-range bus lines, so it's great as a base for day trips!
