  • My husband and I had a cosy and lovely time at Murphy & Teigh's Casita. The Casita is clean, comfortable for a couple, and had everything we needed for our almost two-month stay while we transitioned into living in L.A. The Casita is conveniently located on a quiet street, and is walking distance to restaurants, bars, a movie theatre, and Trader Joe's supermarket. There is plently of street parking for when you return. Teigh was a lovely and concerned host and always available whenever we had questions. I would definitely recommend the Casita to friends and family.

  • La Casita es muy bonita! Cheerful, tranquil, and clean, it’s just blocks away from bustling Culver Boulevard, which is home to cafes and movie history. Teigh and Murphy are the most gracious hosts. And a bonus, La Casita is right near Baldwin Hill, a moderate hike whose peak has among the loveliest views of greater LA. At La Casita, a bit of paradise awaits you.

  • Had a great stay here, lovely little casita and perfect for our needs. A really handy location and easy to get to places we wanted to visit, Santa Monica, Venice, Getty Centre etc. Murphy and Teigh provided some good info and tips. Not familiar with LA and it was great to find out about some of the history of Culver City and it's links with the great days of Hollywood, including Charlie Chaplin losing the Culver Hotel to John Wayne in a poker game (what the hell was he thinking, had he ever seen John Wayne lose a game of cards in any of his films?). Culver City seems a great place, a pity we weren't there longer to get a better feel for the place. Lots of great places to eat and drink (recommend cocktails in the bar of the Culver Hotel, burgers and happy hour Margaritas in Roccos and salads, when the guilt of the aforementioned excess kicks in, at Tender Greens). Only got the chance to have a chat to M and T at the end of our stay, seem a lovely couple and would definitely recommend the casita to anyone looking for a place to stay near LA.

  • We loved the location of this Casita. The Casita itself was very cozy and the bathroom and kitchenette were stocked with all we needed to "live" there for almost a month even with an 8 month old infant! (Of course, this does not include food.) The family is wonderfully accommodating and friendly, and made us feel right at home--this was our favorite feature of the Casita. The only thing that I would do differently and the reason I gave this rental 4 of 5 stars is because we were there for almost a month and the Casita was only cleaned prior to our arrival. I personally arranged and paid for a third party to come and clean the Casita about half way through our stay. If I had it to do over again, I would have negotiated that with the owners ahead of time. I understand this was not a hotel, and room service and cleaning were not available on a daily basis. Truly, this wasn't what I was looking for anyway. However, for the length of our stay, I think a weekly cleaning would have been fair. **Overall a great experience that I hope to repeat soon!. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return!

  • Teigh and Murphy's casita is my preferred "home away from home" when I'm visiting LA. Love the location - quiet, serene, but totally accessible to everywhere I need to get to (from Santa Monica to the valley. They (and their kids) are some of the sweetest human beings you will ever meet. Garden is great for sitting outside at night. Downtown Culver City, TJ's, etc. are all just a short stroll away, too.

  • We came for a mini vacation to attend an expo downtown, and Murphy & Teigh's casita was a wonderful home base. It was peaceful, bright and comfortable, in a great neighborhood (tons of restaurants within walking distance), and super convenient (a hop away from the 10 freeway). Our hosts were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, but they also gave us plenty of privacy. A wonderful stay! We'll be back.

  • Murphy and Teigh were fantastic. Great hosts and now friends. I loved the place - secure, quiet, full of charm. Gave this tired traveler a sanctuary and pace of mind. Anything I needed the accommodated me. I will definitely stay again and miss it already.

  • We spent a fantastic time in the Garden Casita in Culver City!! A very beautiful place to be. An oasis of calm - but absolutely centrally located. In the mornings we attended the language school in Westwood, afternoons we went the beach or went sightseeing. It was perfect located. The garden is really gorgeous and Terry & Teigh are great hosts. They left nothing to be desired, are very, very friendly, helpful, considerate and very pleasant. We loved to be there. Thanks a lot - and maybe we'll come back some day!!!

  • I loved my stay at Murphy & Teigh's Casita. The location could not be better - walking distance to downtown Culver City with so many places to eat and drink. For me, it was perfect because it was two blocks from my brother's family's home so it was uber-convenient.

The casita is the perfect size for one or two people. It is located in Murphy and Teigh's backyard which provides a sense of privacy and security.

The amenties were great. I didn't use the kitchenette because I didn't spend much non-sleeping time there but there ample supplies to cook simple meals if I had wanted. The bathroom was great too, stocked with shower stuff, even lotion and toothpaste which I appreciated because I ran out mid-trip. The shower was very nice. I loved the bed. I slept very well in it, even taking naps. Wifi access was great and reliable so I feel confident in being able to stay there for a business trip.

The only thing I would recommend is that if you are sensitive to light, that you bring an eye mask because the sheer curtains do let in light in the morning. There is also a skylight which meant that when I was there during the day, I didn't need to turn on any lights. Oh and don't forget to pay attention to street cleaning signs. I got a ticket because I didn't! It's only two days a week (Tue and Wed I think) but you'll get a $60 ticket if you forget.

As long as my brother lives in the neighborhood, I plan to stay with the Gilsons and I have recommended the place to the rest of our family.

About
Hey ya! I'm a dad and a husband and a writer and director and an eater of food. (Well, OK. Most people are at least that last thing.) We want to make sure you feel welcome and to give you a calm, usually quiet place to call home away from home. We may invite you to have a drink, or enjoy some food, or share a conversation in the garden. But for the most part, we leave you to relax and enjoy your stay.
