We're happy to present the newest apartment to be rented out on our property: the veranda apartment! It's a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with a living-room, dining-room and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment features a quaint veranda directly facing the sea, perfect for morning coffee and a day of reading and watching the waves.
This apartment is right in front of the sea and you can walk down to the beach in a minute. It's located at Dona Ana beach - one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve - and only a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from downtown Lagos.
Like our other apartments, decoration is simple yet cozy, providing guests with a warm and homey experience. The apartment provides comfortable living for 4 people. The apartment consists of two bedrooms with two single beds each, and two full bathrooms across the hall. The livingroom has a sofa-bed for two additional people. The livingroom seats 8 people comfortably and has a spectacular view of the sea. The veranda is accessible through both the living and dining rooms, and has a small table and some chairs.
The apartment is part of a larger beachfront property which has been in our family for the past 60+ years, having originally started as a small fisherman's cottage. We currently also rent two other apartments, a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom on the same property. All our apartments have private entry and all include parking.
The area surrounding the property is generally pretty quiet and there are two neighborhood stores functioning year-round, as well as a small coffee shop open during the summer months. The entire property faces the sea and to one side has a tourist condo and on the other side the cliffs that go all the way to Ponta da Piedade (please check the map provided for info on the surrounding area) - however, the varanda apartment faces the sea and small square in front of the house.
The apartment comes fully equipped with standard amenities (fridge-freezer, stove-top oven, microwave oven, coffee-maker and toaster in the kitchen) and rental includes linens, duvets and bath towels for 4 people.
- private parking for one car
- WiFi internet
- outdoor table + chairs
- cots available at no charge
- laundry machine

Absolutely beautiful apartment and host. Everything was ready, clean and available upon arrival. Lovely flat with all the necessary comforts and the most stunning location I've ever stayed in, even if the weather was unfortunately not the best! We had a lovely time and hopefully will come back! Thank you Maria and Rosa! :)
Our day started and ended on the beautiful porch of the Casa Trigoso. The in-between time was generally spent on the gorgeous Praia Dona Ana, which is right at your doorstep. The apartment's close proximity to the center of Lagos was also a huge plus, allowing us to get there easily, but the semi-removed location made for nice & quiet nights.
While the apartment was small and quaint, it was clean and comfortable, the perfect amount of room for our family of 4. Maria was also a gracious host, greeting us when we got there and being very accommodating throughout our stay. We felt we made a great decision staying here, everyone should go and drink a nice cold Sagres on the porch!
We had an AMAZING stay at Maria & Rosa's place! It's my second time visiting Lagos and staying in their apartment -- I plan on going back again and again. It is truly magical!
The perfect place to relax, enjoy the sun and the sea. Thanks a lot for this peaceful stay. We will come back.
We had a wonderful time in this place which is located at a premium location 10 seconds from the beach. The apartment is dated but everything you need is there. If you are a family with kids it is a perfect location as they can play on the beach safely. The host is very polite and helpful. It's nice that you can park on the premises because otherwise it will be impossible to get your car parked so close to the beach. the view in the evening is beautiful. All the pictures suggest that you are in the middle of nowhere but this is not true.
The house was in the perfect location. It was right on one the highest recommended beaches in Lagos- Dona Ana. The walk to the beach and the view made our stay wonderful. Check-in was simple, it was easy to find, and Maria met us to make sure we didn't need anything. It was walking distance to an excellent fish restaurant and an easy 10 minute walk to downtown Lagos. Also, the pub O Amigo made for a great lunch upon arrival. Stores were also close by. They also have an outside shower to wash off after the beach. It was an excellent stay and the view truly is remarkable.

CASATRIGOSO: ROLL OUT OF BED AND ONTO THE BEACH
Our apartments are located at the stunning Dona Ana beach in Lagos, Portugal. Decoration is simple yet cozy, providing guests with a warm and homey experience. All our apartments are fully equipped and include parking spaces.
CasaTrigoso has a website which you can search the internet for if you like, though unfortunately we're not allowed to link it here. However, we like Airbnb and want to adhere to site policies, so if you do find us elsewhere on the internet, go ahead and click around the site for lots more information on Lagos and the house, but then come back to Airbnb and book through here. Thanks!
>> from Beginnings to Business
CasaTrigoso is a very small mother-daughter business operation that started out rather haphazardly in lagos in May 2010 over some glasses of wine. Faced with the ever-increasing urgency of renovation work on our family holiday home of over 60+ years, and the frightening amount of money necessary to complete it, we decided to try our hand at renting out two holiday apartments in the house. So we enlisted the help of family and friends for some basic DIY renovation, and after multiple trips to IKEA, meetings with local contractors, hours on the internet setting up our ads, we sat back and waited for bookings.
What started off as a spontaneous experiment turned into - dare we say it? - an actual business. So far we've hosted about 60 guests and have learned (we hope!) much about vacation rentals as well as the kind of accommodation we're eager to provide. We like to think our apartments are cozy and homey, and want guests to feel at home as much as possible. The apartments are very dear to us and hold many memories, and we'd love for guests to care for them as much as we do, and perhaps to make some memories of their own.
>> Division of Labour
The mother (Maria) is in charge of things ‘on the ground’ - making sure everything runs smoothly when guests arrive, arranging the cleaning, counting bed linens, etc. - the daughter (Rosa, her Airbnb profile is here - http://www.airbnb.com/users/show/61915) is more on the ‘backoffice’ side of things - making sure emails are replied to, the availability calendar is up-to-date, etc. We are helped locally by many people, but mostly Alex and Ljuba who help run the place and keep everything going smoothly.
>> the House and Senhor Trigoso
The house dates back from the 1930s when Senhor Zé Trigoso (father and grandfather) decided he wanted to move his family from Lisbon to Lagos which, at that time, was very far away from what Lisbonites would consider the civilised world. Not content with being far from the capital, Senhor Trigoso chose to buy a plot of land away from what was then the town of Lagos, in a largely uninhabited area by Praia da Dona Ana. Those were the days of long donkey-rides into town, fishermen coming to the house to sell their daily catch, and the quiet tranquility of being the only house on Dona Ana beach.
Over the years, the town grew and the roads were paved, and Praia da Dona Ana became a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. Senhor Trigoso also renovated and enlarged the house to fit the ever-growing family, as well as the many friends who would come to stay. In 1965, he built what we are now renting as the two-bedroom apartment, and after he became a widower in 1969, he built a small apartment for himself and that's what we now rent out as the one-bedroom apartment. He loved Lagos, Praia da Dona Ana, and he loved the house. Senhor Trigoso died in 1998, and CasaTrigoso is very much our tribute to him and our way of continuing to give life to the house he so enjoyed.
>> Future Plans
In keeping with our original aim of making money to invest in the property, we're constantly trying to renovate where we can. At the moment we're vigorously working on setting up our third rental apartment which will become available April 2012.
