We are located two blocks from the Fortaleza of Ollantaytambo and at 10 minutes from the train station. We are also close to the city center, plaza de armas, where you can find many restaurants and shops.
To get to our place you will have to cross the bridge that brings you to the ruins of Ollantaytambo, then you will have to turn left on the first street after the bridge and after a few steps you can see us.
Henry was a great host! We loved staying at his place. His staff consisted of Finnish and Japanese personnel who made us feel welcome and comfortable. The location was very good and amenities wonderful. Of note: the shower worked wonderfully and the breakfast was outstanding.
Catty is very friendly and welcoming. She prepares everything for you to enjoy. Rooms are 4 star hotel level clean and well equipped with hair dryer, towels and etcs. The location is right close to Ollantaitambo ruins. You can see it from the back windows. We spent the Christmas Eve there and it was wonderful hearing all the fireworks just like Spring Festival in China. Breakfast with hot chocolate was fabulous.
We had a very pleasant stay at Catty's place.
First of all, the location is absolutely perfect! Right in front of the ruins, and a 10 mn walking distance from the train station to Aguas Calientes.
Then Catty and her husband were extremely nice and thoughtful. On the morning we went to Machu Picchu, they had prepared us a lovely breakfast box for us to bring. The next day, the breakfast was absolutely delightful!
Our room was also very comfortable, with a nice private bathroom, and on top of that, the relaxing sound of the river passing just a few meters below...
Catty and her husband were really wonderful. Their hotel is very clean, professional, spacious and well-managed. They are great communicators and are super helpful with anything you need in town. And also, the breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip! The location is impeccable, a short walk to the plaza, and it's literally around the corner from the ruins and market.
La Casa de Abuelo is a new accommodation in a perfect part of town! The young family that owns it is very nice and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Catty, simply put, is such a nice person and has a very warm personality.
We stayed in a private room with its own bathroom and a small balcony. It was extremely clean and you really felt as though you were in a hotel room. There were two bottles of water waiting for us on the nightstand, Internet worked well, and there is also laundry service that takes about 3-4 hrs for completion.
LOCATION: From the train station (Peru rail, etc) you walk up one street, turn and walk over the bridge, and then walk down a short quiet street. The location is perfect! You can hear the river, which is peaceful, and it is relatively quiet.
A nighttime hot shower with great pressure was a great way to end the night.
Nearby is the Inti (sp?) pizza and grill. It is a great and affordable restaurant with very good alpaca and yuquitos. :)
