About This Listing
Our spacious double bedroom with private ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, and satellite TV lets you unwind in the peace and quiet of our location near a quiet part of Ebensee overlooking green farmland and surrounded by mountains. After a restful sleep you can start the day enjoying our continental breakfast buffet (included in the room rate).
Relax in our beautiful guest lounge with free wireless internet access and big screen TV or just sit back and enjoy those beautiful mountain views.
In summer our terrace and garden is a great spot to watch the sunset and unwind.
Our guesthouse is 2km from the shore of Traunsee and makes for a nice bike ride or stroll into town. As well as Traunsee there are several smaller lakes to explore as well as a waterfall and limestone cave along a charming forest trail. In winter a car is the best way to access the slopes, of which there are many within an easy drives reach, our nearest slope being just 5 minutes drive to an area called the Feuerkogel.
Parking is onsite with no reservation required or if you decide to be car free we can pick you up at Ebensee train station (only by pre appointment).
We look forward to meeting you!
Our guesthouse does not have too many rules but we do like people to stick by the ones we do have! Firstly we are a non smoking house so please smoke outside if you require a nicotine fix. Secondly, it is better for everyone if shoes are taken off at the front door. There are no other rules but the house is mainly used by families and as such is not suitable for party goers!
Main things to note:
- Lovely clean room
- Robert and Catherine were extremely helpful before (via email) and during our stay
- Excellent base for exploring the surrounding lakes via bike (which you can rent from the hosts for ten euros per day), running or hiking (note you probably need a car to get to your starting point)
- the breakfast was a bit average - you do get a freshly soft boiled egg which was nice but the bread and fruit in the buffet weren't very appetising
- I didn't love the rule that you can't drink your own drinks in the lounge. We'd bought some schnapps earlier in the trip and it would have been perfect to sit in the lounge while it was snowing and enjoy a sip or two
- the location wasn't quite as rural as we thought from the photos, but it turned out to be fine and it was interesting to see what a small town in Austria is like
The lakes district is beautiful and I would recommend this guesthouse as your base to enjoy the surroundings and activities on offer.
A lovely b&b, gorgeous quiet location, with fantastic view from our balcony! Ebensee is a lovely little town. We really enjoyed cycling around the lake, visiting two stunning small lakes nearby, and going on walking trails nearby. Breakfast was fantastic too - we loved our soft boiled eggs every morning! We would recommend to stay here for sure! Robert and Catherine are great hosts - very helpful and knowledgable of the area. Thanks again! Jack & Fiona

About the Host, Robert
Your hosts are us - Catherine & Robert! Originally from England, we are delighted to call Austria home and thrilled to live in Ebensee. We worked in the Tourism and IT industries in the UK and Germany before deciding we wanted to run our own holiday accommodation. It was our love of the spectacular mountains that drew us to Austria, so we trained as chefs and worked for a couple of seasons before finally finding our own place in the beautiful Salzkammergut. Catherine is fluent in the German language and will gladly help you while with us. Robert's German is improving every day, though he finds the locals love practising their English with him. Robert was a snowboard instructor in the UK and can offer many tips on how to fall over with style!
We both love being outdoors and Austria is the ideal place to enjoy the fresh mountain air. When we're not meeting, greeting and looking after our guests or cooking up some delicious meals, we can be found at our local lake sailing or on a mountain doing some sort of activity, usually snowboarding, mountain biking, or taking yet another spectacular and scenic walk around them, though come to think of it there is a lot of time spent in mountain huts (alms) eating the local cheeses and sampling the ales.
We look forward to welcoming you to Austria. Come and visit us soon and find out for yourself why we love it here!
The Feuerkogel peak has amazing 360 panoramic views of the area. If you don't fancy climbing the mountain all day, save yourself the effort and take the cable car which starred in "Where Eagles Dare"!
OK so its not the tallest waterfall in the world but nevertheless makes for a pleasant stroll or bike ride through country lanes and then forest track along side a mountain river before reaching it.
A lovely hamlet that is easy to cycle to for an ice cream and spectacular views of the mountains and lake. There are also interesting walks starting nearby to the Sonnstein and around the hamlet.
The Langbath lakes are surrounded by spectacular mountains and create and area of outstanding beauty perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. The two lakes to explore make for a good days outing.
Another lake that is nearby and beautiful! In winter the lake freezes over and can be ice skated on for a brief window in January and February so get your skates on!
The deepest lake in Austria is host to many water based activities many of which are based from the shore of Ebensee, including kite surfing, sailing, water skiing, diving and more!
Relax in the thermal spa waters in Bad Ischl and recharge for your next cycling or hiking adventure!
