Beautiful and unique location on the edge of the rainforest. Very clean and well maintained property. You have to have a rental car here We did a lot of driving. The sounds of all the birds and frogs at night was magical. We would definitely stay here again.
What a lovely place to stay! John and Sara are kind and helpful. The location is so peaceful! It was great to sit on the balcony late each night and listen to the frogs while enjoying dinner. One of my favorite things was breakfast in the open air kitchen- great Puerto Rican coffee with condensed milk, amazing views and good company! The freshly picked fruit was a bonus.
From the apartment, it is easy to get to Luquillo with great beaches, Fajardo with the bioluminescent tour, and old San Juan.
I would definitely stay here again.
John's place was absolutely amazing. The description doesn't do it justice. We didn't get to meet Sarah, but John was very hospitable and accommodating. After getting settled, he immediately offered us delicious homemade drinks with fruit from the property and gave us advice about the area and local attractions.
The lodging was absolutely gorgeous. It's peaceful and the pool is gigantic. We relaxed and made a modest dinner, enjoyed the view from the deck and fell asleep to the most beautiful sounds of the jungle. It was such an amazing orchestra of natural sounds I actually recorded it. People pay money for discs with sounds of the jungle and at John's you can hear it for free each night.
My only regret is our stay was too short. I highly recommend staying here for several nights en route to the ferry or to get away from SJ. If you're traveling in a group, it would be an ideal spot. It would also be perfect for families or couples traveling together. There's tons of space, privacy and gorgeous grounds to explore or sit just back and relax.
They are very friendly people, and gave us directions to various places in the area. The room was very spacious. If you plan to stay for a few days in the area, be sure to bring supplies such as coffee, there is coffee maker, microwave, fridge and cooking surfaces. Their dogs are nice too.
John and Sara's place wasn't what we were expecting; it was better. Our room was plenty big for the two adults and three children. There was an air conditioner (I think), but we never turned it on because the cross-breeze through the apartment (aided sometimes by the fans) made it comfortable. And we didn't want to do anything that would have stopped us from hearing the birds and the frogs.
I already miss my evenings on the veranda, watching the lightning in the distance, listening to the frogs, and sipping my rum and guava juice.
The amenities page does not have this property checked off as appropriate for children. I couldn't agree less. It was perfect for our kids. There were no useless knick-knacks for them to break, the veranda provided a space for them (and us adults) to be outside even when it rained, and they loved the pool. Maybe John and Sara don't want to market this as Chuck E Cheese in the jungle, in which case I get it, but during the drive back to the airport my wife and I quickly agreed that we needed to find a place just like this one for our next family trip.
I am very sorry so late to review the John & Sara’s house.
This is an excellent and enjoyable place, the experience that I never have it before. We can listen a lot of little animals’ sound, which sound like little animal’s concert that make me very happy and enjoy it.
Sara and John were great and awesome hosts! They were very responsive and nice. John & Sara were prepared fresh bananas and delicious breakfast to us. There have a spacious swim pool, that was very cool and I am very like the house!
Our room was spacious and with kitchen and two Queens size beds with a kitchen and clean bathroom.
All in all great experience - specially falling asleep to the sounds of the tree frogs at night!
I would definitely recommend John & Sara’s place to anyone planning to travel into El Yunque. As well as it took 20 mins to Fajardo ferry by car from John & Sara’s house. It is definitely a perfect place.
Welcome to China, and my family will welcome you！
Thank you very much!
John and Sara have a great place and were warm and welcoming. We enjoyed a nice long chat with them when we arrived, and they gave us lots of great advice for the surrounding area. It's in quick proximity to the beach, to a really cool little seaside town, and El Yunque park. The property is beautiful and well-kept, with a pool big enough to swim laps in. And the jungle sounds at night really completed the experience. I would definitely stay again or recommend John and Sara's to anyone going to Puerto Rico.
Our stay was very short, but John and Sara were very accommodating, making sure we could arrive late, cutting fresh fruit from the tree the next morning, and welcoming us to swim in their huge pool and explore the property. The place is gorgeous - nestled at the foot of the rainforest - and relaxing. The views from the wrap around balcony are incredible. Both John and Sara were very friendly and willing to share their place with us. It is a little off the beaten path to arrive (meaning down a side road - easy to find), but well worth the trip.
