The space

The Silver King was built in 1900 as a boarding house for miners with a restaurant on the ground floor. In the 1940's it became the Bisbee Hotel. By the time we acquired it in the mid 1970's it had become the Silver King and was in dire need of restoration which we did with the original floor plan in mind. Thus, the reason for the shared baths although we added another bath on the second floor when the Room 4 bar was added. We bill it as The Smallest Bar in Arizona although the second floor lobby and adjacent patio accommodates our guests and live music we have on many occasions. All rooms are uniquely individual. All have sinks, heat, fans, TV's and wireless service.

Guest access

Guests have immediate access to a unique full bar, Room 4, as well as fine dining and unique shopping within easy walking distance to historic downtown Old Bisbee. The Wonderland of Rocks and Portal Bird Sanctuary in the Chiricahua Mountains are an hour away. Whitewater Draw, winter home of thousands of Sandhill Cranes is 20 minutes away. The Huachuca Mountains, home of Montezuma State Park and another bird sanctuary featuring many types of humingbirds is 40 minutes away. The Dragoon Mountains, also 40 minutes away, feature Cochise Stronghold and another 30 minute drive from there is the Amerind Foundation, a wonderful collection of Native American art and artifacts. Numerous other wonderous sites are within close driving distance.

Other things to note

We have a house cat. Her name is Munchie and she is an astounding 31 years old. We are in the process of getting her declared as the oldest cat at least in the U.S. with the Guiness Book of World Records. Munchie Is with us only in spirit now.

This listing is "okay". the room was clean and ready for us to check in. It's listed as having shared bathrooms on the floor and they were also clean. It was nice that the room itself had a sink so you could wash your face and brush teeth in room. But the room itself was very warm and really never cooled off. It has a ceiling fan but no AC or other cooling. Being that it's a very old building I understand that having AC or swamp cooling is not something it was built to have. But the breeze way window at the top of the door that was ment to keep the room cooler was painted or fixed shut. It's also the front of the building with both windows right off the street. The street it's on has 2or3 bars one of them being right across the street. So sleeping with the windows open was not a choice. Even with windows closed there was no sleeping till after the bar closed. I feel that this room should be listed with a warning that it is in the front of the building right off the street. If I had known how loud it would be in the room before we booked I would have chosen another room at the back of the building. The Room4 bar is a cute novelty. It was nice to get a drink and enjoy it in our room as we got ready for dinner. If your looking for coffee or any extras. Well, this is not the place for that. there really isn't anyone there most of the time. Being listed as a "hotel" is a stretch. And I've had more amenities avalibal in other places I've stayed in Bisbee. We happen to stop in on a previous trip to Bisbee when we saw the sign for the Room4 bar and thought we would give it a try. I'll be happy to stop in for a drink again but I'll be sleeping it off someplace else.

Hotel had awesome architecture and decor. The neighborhood was perfect for us- close to most of the attractions we wanted to see. The hotel room was comfortable and well-maintained.

My Goodness! This place is right out of a storybook or back when the good times were alive and thriving and the mines were booming! Danielle greeted us and opened the little bar for myself and my guest to have a beer. She pulled up a stool and we chatted about decades gone by and the history of the town and her family! This place is living history which I would recommend any and everyone to be part of! Everything was so clean and e got to tour the open rooms and pick the one of our choice. An option that is rarely seen in the current tourist market, this I really appreciated. It does get a little noisy in the evening as live music production is advocated for in the space. I personally loved this. I fell asleep listening to locals and local artists. I understand it would not be for all different crowds but for a younger crowd looking to have fun while you are in Bisbee this is the place to hit up. ALSO they have a fantastic patio that is open for use but private from the street, very very nice feature as it is nice to enjoy the warm weather! Overall I give this place an A+ I can't wait to go back!

The Silver King Hotel was a great place to spend a few nights. The room was cozy and the atmosphere was very welcoming. In the evening, there was live music on the patio and it just made the whole trip pretty fantastic.

Bisbee is a great place to visit and the Silver King was a amazing place to stay. Room 4 bar was a cute place to grab a drink and the live music on the patio was a nice surprise.
