About this listing

Super magical & unique tree house based on sacred geometry located on an active organic farm. It's truly in the trees, not on stilts. It's composed of 4 rustic open air structures: the Awarenest - a separate epic 360 view deck 9m (30ft) high, the Bedroom Pod - with hanging bed, desk, northern view of the mountains and half bath with suspended bridge to full Kitchen Pod both at 4.5m (15ft) high and lastly a separate bathroom/shower pod at 3m (12ft). Basically a jungle farm wildlife adventure.

Description

The space

The main initial structure, the bedroom is actually suspended by cables between 5 strong Melina trees. The sacred geometry shape is an Icosahedron, one of the 5 platonic solids. It’s composed of 20 equilateral triangles that join at 12 vertices roughly making a spherical shape.

The bedroom has a queen bed with canopy mosquito net, a built in desk, a small sink (with running water) and mirror and small porch. Just outside the bedroom is a half bathroom with flushing toilet.

The kitchen, connected to the bedroom by a bridge has a full size sink, half size frig, toaster oven, 1 burner gas stove, plenty of counter space and built in couch/bench that can sleep a 3rd person, but it's narrow and not very comfortable for sleeping (which is why it's a 2 person listing).

The bathroom in a separate tree, has flushing toilet and shower with 2 heads, one is cold only and one has hot and cold. Plenty of privacy but open air with a view. It has a ladder access.

The view deck, called the Awarenest is about 30' up with quite an amazing view. It's accessible by a series of ladders, so not for the faint of heart. It's a great spot for yoga, meditation or just relaxing on top of the world. It's in the tallest, highest tree in the area. I say highest because it's also at the top of a little hill.

It's truely one of a kind.

Guest access

The 2 acre property is within the 40 acre Rancho Delicioso organic farm community. There is plenty of privacy but also the chance to interact with the community of workers and volunteers on the farm.

Interaction with guests

As the owner/buider, unfortunately I won't be personally able to greet you. I have a wonderful property manager who works full time at the farm so he's available near by if you need anything.

The neighborhood

It’s 15 min drive to the Montezuma beach and about 25 min drive to Mal Pais and Santa Teresa Beaches. It’s nicely settled in the hills between them. Also about 15 minutes from Cobano, the largest town in the area for supplies, etc. Those times change based on road conditions. It’s not actually very far, but you wont’ be driving super fast.

There’s a wonderful authentic Italian restaurant located close by, in the middle of no where. Their pizza is amazing and cooked in a wood fired home made earth oven, hence the restaurants name, Tierra Y Fuego (earth and fire). They are only open Thursday-Sunday and closed for most of Sept/Oct.

Getting around

It’s a little secluded so I suggest having a rental car if possible or plan to pay taxi’s (roughly $1/min of the listed drive times).

Other things to note

The tree house is fully functional with electricity, running water, flushing toilets, hot shower and speakers to plug in your music device.

What a treat to stay at this treehouse, eating breakfast and watching howler monkeys play was a real highlight! Great place to stay!

The tree house is really nice, not in walking distance from montezuma but a short drive. Great to wake up and have the beautiful view from your bed. Nice feature ia the hanging bed. 2 bad that construction work started at 6:30 on the farm.

Joseph was a great host. very responsive, answering any questions we had. We were grateful that he was willing to host our family of 5, as the place has a max of 3 guests. He agreed to hang an extra hammock in the treehouse for our benefit. I have to say that the extra hammock was very comfortable. The bed in the treehouse is just delightful with lovely views. The place is recommended for 3 guests, with the 3rd sleeping on the bench in the kitchen, however this bench is pretty hard, and I would only recommend that for people like us who are willing to do what you can to make it work. It really has no comfort value. Julito, the friendly property manager, met us at the farm to help us with any concerns. He toured us around the farm and invited us to use the organic vegetables available in the gardens there. The treehouse itself is very simple and lovely. Our children loved it as well. The fans in the bedroom are so nice as the nights can be quite hot (in April). The location is not far from Montezuma, Santa Elena, or Mal Pais. though having a vehicle is very helpful. We enjoyed some snorkelling during the days we were there. Overall, we had a great time and it will surely be one of the more memorable experiences of our 9-week stay in Costa Rica.

Stay here! Great community. Close to Montezuma falls and beach. Best views for sunsets! Take the climb up the lookout it's worth it! Just sad we didn't book more time here! Woke up to the sound of howler monkeys! Amazing Thanks Joseph

We absolutely loved our stay in the Treehouse. What an amazing place to just disconnect from the world and live the simple life. It is a fair way from town, it will cost you $10 in a cab to Montezuma or Cobano. Stock up at the supermarket and lock yourself in for a minimum of two days. We had much more fun here than in the Montezuma town. Definitely eat at the Italian pizza place tierra y fuego which is a 10 minute walk from the property. Amazing pizza!!! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone

This is a really well-built treehouse at the edge of a small farm over looking a wide swath of undeveloped land. Nice views, really comfortable, you are way up in the tree too. There were plenty of birds, some lizards and howler monkeys around. The kitchen is adequate with a small 'fridge and one burner cooktop The farm is a short drive to Montezuma which is a somewhat upscale little beach town.
