Modern, clean apartment, very safe neighbourhood, double bedroom, own bathroom & parking. 35 minutes into the city centre which is 7.5km. Beside a shopping centre, the beautiful Marlay Park, the Wicklow Way walk and traditional Irish pubs
This is a lovely double bedroom and bathroom, with easy access to the city by tram or bus but close to the mountains and parks, shops and traditional pubs too - transport details are in the "Getting Around" section. Parking is available. I have very good WiFi too. There is a TV and dvd player in the room and lots of films on dvd.
Guests will have access to their bedroom, own bathroom and parking right in front of the apartment if needed. Breakfast is self service and guests can have access to the kitchen and living room at this time, though not at other times except with prior arrangement. Breakfast consists of tea, coffee, juice, cereals and bread. Clothes washing and cooking are generally not available except with prior arrangement.
Interaction with Guests
I'm a very friendly person but as with a traditional guest house I let guests have their own privacy and space if that is what they prefer.
This is a very safe and well kept neighbourhood with lots of shops, pubs, amenities, transport and entertainment nearby. Dundrum shopping centre which is one of the biggest in Europe is one mile away.
There are two buses (numbers 16 & 14) less than 3 minutes walk from my apartment that both go to the city centre. Each bus leaves between 3 to 5 times per hour depending on the time of day. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the city centre (7.5km away). There is a tram 1.8 km away which is right beside Dundrum Shopping Centre, which is one of the biggest in Europe. The tram takes 17 minutes to get to the city centre.
To Get Here
If you are driving to the apartment, take exit 13 off the M50 motorway, then take the first exit at the roundabout towards Rathfarnham. Drive about 300 metres until you reach the second set of traffic lights and turn right, you will then see the Apple Green petrol station on your left. This is very close to the apartment and I can give you further directions from there.
By Bus to the Apartment from the City Centre
The 16 bus stops 3 minutes walk away from my apartment. Get out at the stop nearest the Apple Green petrol station in Ballinteer, which is a 3 minute walk away. The 14 bus also goes from the city centre to the apartment. Get out at the Supervalu supermarket in Ballinteer, which is 150 metres from the apartment.
From Dublin Airport
There is a blue bus called the Aircoach (to Leopardstown/Sandyford) which leaves from outside the Arrivals area for both Terminals 1 & 2. It costs 10 euro one way and 16 euro return. The journey time is 50 minutes and it leaves you at Bewleys Hotel in Sandyford (the last stop). It is a 10 minute drive from my apartment and would cost about 10 Euros in a taxi.
Taxis from the airport cost 30 Euros if booked in advance. The journey time is about 40 minutes. I can give you phone numbers of reliable companies I use myself.
You can also get the 16 bus from Dublin Airport to Ballinteer and it would take over an hour (as it has a lot of stops) but would cost about 3 euros.
I hope you enjoy your stay! Guests' stay are on a B+B basis, with tea, coffee, orange juice, toast and cereals for breakfast. Guests have access to the kitchen and living area for breakfast but not at other times (except with prior arrangement). Clothes washing and cooking facilities are not generally available except with prior arrangement. There is no smoking inside the apartment.
The listing is as described. David was honest about the travel time to and from the city. His home is pristine and the room is spacious and welcoming. David was always available to answer my questions and was accommodating as well as flexible to my the changes in my schedule. I loved my stay here and enjoyed Dublin immensely.
David was an excellent host and went out of his way to be helpful. My In laws were delighted with the service and would recommend David as a host any time. Many Thanks again on behalf of Tommy & Bernie
Nice and quiet apartment ideally located in the south of Dublin. Very easy access by car (M50). All necessary items were provided. David is very communicative and respond quickly to messages. To recommend.
David is a great host. His place is modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I felt very welcome - highly recommended for a South Dublin stay, especially as so close to the M50 ring road.
David was very helpful, the house was very clean and we felt at home. The house is very close to the beginning of The Wicklow Way, so if you're doing that, this is the perfect place to stay.
I had an amazing time at David's house. I had a very quick overnight stay in Dublin before returning to nyc. He went out of his way to ensure I had a comfortable and great stay including- picking me up from the air coach stop, making me breakfast and taking me to the airport the next morning since he was fortunately working so close to it that day. Really comfortable apartment, bed and ::gasp:: actual hot water and working wifi in Europe! ;) definitely recommend staying with David!
Great base for a Dublin visit is just that! A comfortable room in nice, safe neighbourhood, close to public transportation and some interesting local sights.
David is a terrific host--very helpful, knowledgeable about the local and very accommodating. I would recommend his B&B to anyone visiting in the Dublin area.
