Stay in a country Doctor's century home in rural Ontario, as one of our guests said, “Walking in the door to the Doctor's House is like entering the portal to another era. The décor and attention to detail sweep you back to the feeling and charm of a younger Canada in it's beginnings. The Doctor's House is really a home with a welcome in every room.”
We serve home cooked local organic, where possible, food and cater to special diets such as gluten free, vegetarian, diabetic, etc.
Our specialty is Bavarian Pancake made with locally grown and milled flour and served with local maple syrup and a fresh fruit and yogurt cup. We use fresh roasted free trade coffee and a special Earl Grey tea.
We are near the best beaches and sunsets in the world, take a walk on trails through the Niagara Escarpment a UNESCO World Biosphere reserve, or if you are more energetic, you can hike the Bruce Trail, which runs along the edge of the escarpment and gives spectacular views of Georgian Bay one of the largest fresh water bays in the world. It is so large most people think of it is a separate lake but it is really part of Lake Huron.
If you like waterfalls then we have many that are just a short walk from your car or some that you have to hike to through some very scenic countryside.
If wine is your choice, then it might surprise you that we have a number of excellent wineries in our area, but if beer is more to your taste we also have some excellent craft breweries.
We are located between Lake Huron and Georgian Bay in the Famous Great Lakes recreation and tourist area.
Dive or take a glass-bottom boat cruise in the Fathom Five National Park at Tobermory.
Boat cruise to Flower Pot Island where you can tour the lighthouse and hike the island.
Hike to the Grotto in the Bruce Peninsula National Park (this is a beautiful cave).
We are also near 15 distinctive lighthouses and marine heritage sites, many local markets, great fishing, canoeing, and kayaking in the many rivers and lakes, excellent cycling, museums and several golf courses.
In the winter we have some of the best snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and ice fishing. We also have dog sledding in the area.
Great place to celebrate special events such as, weddings, family reunions, women's or wellness retreats, special birthdays and anniversaries, etc.
For an excellent family activity, we have the EXPLORE THE BRUCE ADVENTURE PASSPORT that sends you to very interesting places in our area. When you find 7 out of the 12 listed, you will receive a tee shirt. All of this is FREE.

Everything was great. Both John and Miriam were very welcoming and hospitable. Delicious breakfast in the morning!
John and Miriam were the perfect hosts! The b&b is quaint, we stayed in the schoolhouse room and it was lovely and clean. They provided towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, Miriam made us her famous Bavarian Pancake, yogurt and fruit, orange juice and tea. They were very knowledgeable about the area and armed us with pamphlets for Tobermory.
My boyfriend and I drove up Friday afternoon from Toronto and stayed at the Doctor's House at night and drove another 1.5 hrs to Bruce Peninsula which worked out well.
John and Miriam were very friendly and their place was just perfect for the peaceful experience we were looking for. They were very helpful and helped us find some amazing must go places in the area. Would definitely recommend staying at the doctor's bed and breakfast.
We had a great experience at the doctors house. We stayed in the school house room, and it was very clean and had enough room for my husband, myself and our infant-with all they baby gear we had with us! We really enjoyed the shower and bathroom- it was extra spacious- great for a family. The king bed was soft and silky sheets! We all slept really well!
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had a great stay at the Doctors House. John and Miriam were excellent hosts who were most welcoming and great to talk with. They gave us plenty of information so that we managed to see all the best bits locally. Not only is the Doctors House very comfortable and the breakfasts really good, It is very well situated for touring the Burce peninsula and the Georgion Bluffs. We're really glad we decided to stay here as part of our holiday in Ontario.
We had the most delightful stay with John and Miriam for three days while we were in town for a family wedding. The king-sized bed in the School House room is by far one of the most comfy beds we've ever slept in, with both of us sleeping in way past our usual times.
I'm gluten free and my husband cannot eat sugar, and Miriam made us the most accommodating and delicious breakfasts every morning,--even a gluten free/sugar free version of her Bavarian pancake. And she shared her recipe with us!
We can't speak highly enough of the warm hospitality we enjoyed at the Dr's House!
