Dear Airbnb guests,
My apartment is a real home, custom made by me and shared with you, not a chain-hotel or dime-a-dozen hostel. As you can see I provide a lot of info for you about the apartment and about myself and I have quite a few references, so you can feel comfortable and secure renting my place; you know what you will get!
I would like to ask the same from you; please fill out your profile with some background information about yourself and provide me with some information as to why you would like to rent my apartment when you enter a booking request, especially if you don't have any reviews or references yet. So I can feel equally secure in renting out my lovely apartment to you.
Thank you, and I hope to welcome you to Amsterdam and my apartment soon!
A basic but lovely and comfortable little apartment with original details and a lot of character, on a residential side street in central Amsterdam.
The apartment has recently been renovated: keeping the original charm and in a great location, spruced up with fresh paint, a comfortably laid out space and more (newer and better) amenities such as the indoor ladder to the loft bedroom, a new bed with new lighting fixtures, a larger bathroom with toilet, sink and bath tub and a new kitchen with all new appliances.
I usually live here when I'm not traveling so it's a charming personable space, with a beautiful oak floor, Portuguese tiling in the bathroom, artwork on the wall and well stocked bookshelves and kitchen cabinets so you can feel at home away from home. It's a small place but it feels spacious because I keep it uncluttered, it has a nice Zen feel to it. More information about the apartment and the neighbourhood is provided upon arrival, I have a selection of guidebooks and leaflets with tourist information about the major attractions of Amsterdam. Please also check the guidebook I created on Airbnb as it provides a lot of info about facilities in the neighbourhood like supermarkets, nice cafes, galleries etc. As an architectural history student and culture lover I can tell you more about the historical and cultural side of Amsterdam if you're interested.
Practical info about the apartment
Detailed info about how the heating and internet etc. work is provided in the airbnb house manual you'll receive with your reservation confirmation.
The apartment is on the third floor, to be reached with stairs that are quite narrow and steep, compared to modern apartment buildings. This is common in Amsterdam since the city is very densely populated and the historical houses in the city centre are built on very narrow plots of land.
The bedroom with double bed is one floor up in the attic, a lovely quiet space where you will sleep under the wooden roofbeams. It has a bay window with traditional Amsterdam hoist beam overlooking the city. There are two small sofa's that can be folded down flat and turned into a single bed in the living room. Bed linen and towels are provided. Please note that since the bedroom is in the attic you will have to climb a little steep staircase (a ladder really :) from the living room to the bedroom, so this is not for the elderly! There is also a proper staircase from the hallway to the attic which is handy to take up luggage but that is technically outside the apartment and cold in wintertime.
Basic food stuff is provided: fresh fruit, cereal, coffee, tea, rice, pasta, oil, usually some organic vegetables as well.
Checking in and out
I'm very flexible with check-in and check-out times and if you would like a late check-out it is possible to check out in the afternoon and leave your luggage to pick up later at your convenience. This way you can make the most of your stay at my apartment. If I cannot meet you for check-in or check-out (because of work or travel) a friend of mine will be there to meet you for check-in or you can pick up the key at a place around the corner and let yourself in.
Practical info about the neighbourhood
Please see the Airbnb guidebook I made for facilities in the neighbourhood. There are tramstops going in many directions right outside the apartment. There are many shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bakeries close by, as well as many tourist attractions such as museums, boat tours, bike rental etc. The neighbourhood is relaxed and safe, I've lived here for 10 years now and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Here's the skinny, answering most questions at a glance:
- Bed linnen and towels provided
- Breakfast provided: cereal, fruit, milk and juice
- Basic food stuff provided plus all cooking utensils
- Amsterdam city council tourist tax of 5,5% included in the price
- 3rd/4th floor, no elevator
- Wifi internet, no radio or tv
- Strictly no smoking and no shoes inside the apartment please
- Walking distance from shops, public transport, restaurants, tourist attractions and museums: information available upon arrival
- Inside information about what's happening in Amsterdam from a local who loves the city :-)
The apartment is all yours! It has wifi internet, a livingroom with a beautiful solid oak floor, a kitchen with everything you need for cooking (except for a microwave) and a washing machine, a bathroom with a bath tub, a shower which has good hot water, a little cold water sink and a toilet. The apartment is comfortably heated with a gas heater. The attic room has a small electric heater and electrical blanket for a toasty bed on cold nights. There is no radio or tv but Amsterdam has plenty of entertainment to offer!
I'm not always around to meet you for check-in but I have a perfect arrangement for you to pick up the key in a nearby cafe. You can always call, email or text me should issues arise.
I've made a guide of the neighbourhood with my personal recommendations for cafes and restaurants. I'm very happy to provide info on what to do and where to go based on your preferences, by email or if I'm there to meet you for check-in I can advise you in person.
This little pad in the city centre of Amsterdam is close to everywhere you want to go. 5 minutes walking from Flower Market, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh museum, Leidseplein, Heineken Brewery and Albert Cuyp market. It's on a quiet and friendly residential side street with lots of shops and facilities nearby, and a tram stop that takes you straight to Amsterdam Central Station is just outside the apartment. Another tram stop towards the Jordaan and West area is right around the corner.

Great experience in Amsterdam and Vera´s apartment.
Since the moment I first contacted Vera, she was really responsive and willing to answer all my doubts and questions (this was my first experience with AirBnB).
The apartment: more you cannot ask for! The location is great, near to literally everything, the center, the museums, the shops, everything. The apartment really clean and tidy, Vera left us food in the fridge and a really good wine that we enjoyed with my girlfriend in a homemade dinner. Also Vera left us a booklet with really good information and places to go in Amsterdam (it was really handy to plan everything we wanted to do).
In conclusion, I would totally recommend Vera and her apartment for some holidays in Amsterdam!!
Vera's place was lovely! My boyfriend and I stayed for for three nights and were very comfortable. Vera even provided a printed guide book - in English! - to the neighborhood. We walked everywhere. I'd recommend it to a friend.
We stayed three nights in Vera's perfect little apartment and wouldn't have changed a thing. Check-in was easy, apartment was clean and warm and Vera was helpful and easygoing throughout. Highly recommended!
Vera was a great host, very helpful and fully flexible for arriving/departing. She even left us food in the fridge! Her apartment is in a very cute neighbourhood with lots of nice cafés. I would go back there anytime.
Vera's apartment is located in a really sweet suburb with lots of independent bars, cafés and shops within walking distance. The commute to city centre and super chic Jordann is around 5-10 mins by tram, the nearest stop is a 2 min walk from the apartment. Vera was a great host, her guest guide was really helpful and her kind gestures of a bottle of wine and breakfast items was a nice touch.
The only negatives we found was the apartment's location was quite noisy. There is a budget hostel opposite in which people congregated outside until the early hours. There is also construction work going on a few feet away and the workers start drilling around sunrise!
Other than that minor issue if you are looking for an authentic and interesting place to stay and explore wonderful Amsterdam, Vera's apartment is a home from home!
Vera was a brilliant host! The directions given, the recommendations etc and the welcoming notes were wonderful. Her communication was great. We spoke multiple times before our arrival to organise things and she couldn't have been more helpful! We can't thank her enough for all the assistance.
The apartment itself was fantastic. Really great location, walking distance to everything, clean and tidy with everything you could possibly need (including some fresh fruit for breakfast!).
We loved climbing up the ladder and going to bed in the attic!
A perfect stay in Amsterdam!
I would definitely recommend Vera's place! Vera herself was very nice and super organized about everything. Her place is quite beautiful and comfortable and perfectly located for seeing museums and checking out cute cafes, shops, etc. outside of the main tourist areas. I even got a nice run in the nearby big park. Overall highly recommended!
Great location for a few days in Amsterdam. The apartment was not in the really busy touristy areas but nestled in a lovely neighbourhood while still being a quick walk to all the places you want to go. The apartment was clean, nicely decorated and had an amazing heater which was great to go back to after a long day in the cold exploring. The three flights of stairs to the apartment are narrow and steep which made lugging our cases up and down quite interesting but it was all part of the charm of staying in an Amsterdam apartment.
We had a wonderful time staying in Vera's apartment !! Her place is in the most perfect location. While in the middle of winter we stayed warm & cosy here! Would recommend Vera's apartment to friends & family! Thank you Vera.
My wife and I visited the Netherlands for the first time in this January. We headed Amsterdam and feel very fortunate to have 'stumbled' across Vera's apartment. Although we didn't meet her in person due Year's End, she was very willing to assist and eager to answer any of our questions, either by phone and e-mail. The apartment is very well located, comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is the one of the best we encountered on our Airbnb experiences - you can cook whatever you like, she has an arsenal of spices. And organic supermarket is close by.
I have to add we had great fun visiting the Moulder Bar at the corner and drinking De Bierkoning beer - amazing.
Warning: watch your steps coming down the stairs during the night to pee...
The apartment is very well located, easy to reach, close enough to the centre of the city (walking distance, bike or tram), and at the same time apart from the crowd. The flat is small but it's enough, clean, good bathroom. We got privacy, comfort, good heating, Wi-Fi, fresh towels and even fresh food! It's incredible quiet (almost weird) - in fact the whole Amsterdam is quiet. Very easy to get around just by walking. It's a perfect place for a trip in Amsterdam. I definitively recommend this place to others as well :-)
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
