Apartment - Entire home/apt · Lychener Straße, Berlin, Berlin 10437, Germany

The Space

Welcome in Prenzlauerberg, and more exactly welcome to the district with the biggest East Berlin flavour.
The flat i m offering would be an interior omage to this historical moment, which developed a very particular retro design. The new is mixed with the retro. New bed and kitchen are together with original (phone number hidden) furnitures.
It's a very clean, cozy, bright, sunny, warm, comfortable, 40 m2 flat with a small balcony and a view on the historical Lychenerstrasse.
It's a typical Berlin apartment, freshly renovated (2010), located in a building from the beginning of the century, high ceilings, beautiful wooden floor, charming decorative 'stucco' on the ceiling, furnished and decorated with taste and plenty of nice details.
It's fantastically located in the city center, in a small and quiet street of Prenzlauerberg, one of the most beautiful and lively areas of Berlin, and just a few hundred meters from the metro station (U-Bahn and S-Bahn) EBERSWALDERSTRASSE.
The neighborhood is very safe day and night, quiet and green but at the same time plenty of things to do.
Shops, supermarkets, art galleries, bars, clubs, cafes, restaurants, flea markets, parks in the area, the flat is walking distance from the famous Mauer Park, Eberswalder strasse, Helmholtzplatz, right in front of the former Vitra Design Museum.
All public transports available: tram (M10), bus and metro (S-Bahn and U-Bahn).

  • Mario and Oxana, thank you for helping to make my time in Berlin fantastic, I enjoyed my blissful stay at this apartment. Fellow travellers- this perfect home is centrally located, secure, kitted out with all you could need and cosy. The local surrounds and community includes nearby U-Bahn, the fantastic Hauptquartier Berlin hair salon, restaurants galore including a great vegan place, Vego and Bar 23 just downstairs. Wishing I was there right now...

  • It was a very nice flat. In the middle of bars, restaurants and close to the tram and subway. I had a good time. Recommendation!

  • Great apartment in perfect location. While I never met Mario in person, communication was smooth and he was always easily accessible. Check-in/out was no problem. Highly recommend this place.

  • The apartment is in a great location. It is clean and modern with almost all of the amenities that you'll need for your stay. Some details had been overlooked, e.g., no cutting board in the kitchen (there is one now, since I bought it and left it behind!) no bathmat in the bathroom. Only one bath towel provided, no hand towels, etc. The dryer is a heated drying rack, not a dryer. These were just small details. They didn't really bother me all that much.
My biggest problem with the apartment is that it is located directly over a bar where DJs play a wide array of indie and electronica, beginning at about midnight, and it sounds like the base is right under your pillow. Also, people congregate outside the bar, which means, they are congregating right under your window. If you're in town to go out, this might not bother you, but I was in town to work and there were evenings where this drove me crazy. Also, there is currently (October 2012) construction on the two neighboring flats, which means hammering and drilling beginning at 7:30 AM. Also, something that drove me crazy after being kept up until the wee hours by the bar below.
Communication with Mario was pretty good. He was responsive and welcoming. The only issue was with picking up the key to the apartment upon arrival. I arrived at 8:00 pm and Mario wasn't around, which meant I had to take a cab all the way to Neukolln from Tegel and then go back to Prenzlauer berg. Altogether, the cab ride was 50 euro and, after all that, I was given the wrong key! The mix up was resolved quickly, but the it was still a bit of a mess.
Overall, there are many nice sides to the apartment, but there are drawbacks as well.

  • un appartement agréable dans un quartier bien situé

  • This place is impeccable, traditional building that was full of sunshine in the morning, close to subway, many good restaurants and bars are just a stone's throw away. Plus Sunday flea market at Mauerpark nearby was a must, got quite a local feel! Only tiny little thing during weekend is that there is a bar downstairs, could be a pain if you're a light sleeper (luckily I"m not). Sunday and the rest of weekdays were not a problem at all. We enjoyed our stay very much, and highly appreciate Mario's kind help with all the practical stuff! Easy and fun, will definitely go back if i were in Berlin again!
