Situated on the boundary of the beautiful, world famous Lake District National Park and handy for the Yorkshire Dales National Park too - great for exploring the outdoors or chilling in beautiful countryside.
Our house is only 10 mins drive from the pretty town of Windermere. It is a 17 century former farmhouse, with lots of rustic character, surrounded by lovely countryside, including fields full of sheep and cows, gently grazing. However Kendal town centre only 20 mins walk away. There is off road parking and secure bike storage.
Wake up to the sound of the birds and sheep!
In our house we have a double room available, with a second double room if required.
Good cotton bed linen is provided along with towels.
The main room is £49 for 2 people including a continental breakfast.
A lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissant, toast, cereal is laid out in the mornings
We also have a third double room with a futon bed, which is very comfortable. The room also has the Computer and desk, which limits your space a little. But the room does not feel cramped. This can be booked, for a fifth person, including breakfast, when booked along with the other 2 rooms.
The bathroom which is exclusively for your use has an over the bath shower.
We also offer Free WIFI internet.
You can have the use of your own sitting room with woodburning stove, if required, or you can sit and chat to us over a cuppa, or a beer! There is no TV available.
Feel free to make tea, coffee, fruit/herbal teas in our kitchen whenever you like.
There are no cooking facilities available.
However if you don't feel like eating out you are welcome to bring a take away back to the house
The nearest railway stations are Kendal, or Oxenholme - pick up from Kendal station may be possible. The buses pass the end of our lane and take you into the heart of the Lake District.
Kendal is a pretty and lively market town with a good choice of restaurants etc and a theatre, cinema and leisure centre/swimming pool.
The house is set in stunning countryside and there are lovely walks from the house if you don’t want to drive. Windermere is only 8 miles away and you can be in our favourite place in the world, Langdale, in about 45mins.
We can advise you on walks to suit your needs and other places of interest, as we love the Lake District very much, and spend lots of time exploring it.
We have a friend who may be able to guide you on a walk if you feel like taking advantage of a local person's knowledge. Let us know in advance if this interests you and we may be able to organise this.
Debbie and Chris live in the house along with Poppy and Beanie our small, friendly dogs and we are looking forward to meeting you :). We realise that some people may not feel like meeting our dogs and that is fine. they are never allowed upstairs and they are happy to stay in their own space!!.
So go on give yourself a holiday! We would love to meet you.
We had such a wonderful stay! Debbie and Chris were really friendly and helpful, offering advice on walks in the area. The breakfast was fantastic as well, really set us up for a great day's walking. Thanks so much!
Staying with Chris and Debbie was like staying with good friends. They went out of their way to share their very special part of the world with us. They took us on a doggie walk, accompanied us to dinner at their favourite local and showed us where to go to walk in the Lake District. Their home is just as it appears on the website. It is absolutely charming and so you wake to the sound of birds and lambs and yet are really close to Kendal ( although we chose to explore the National Parks). We will be recommending Chris and Debbie's place to all our friends who visit the UK.
Debbie and Chris couldn't have made us feel any more welcome in their lovely home! We thoroughly enjoyed their company and it'd be fair to say that it will be the first place i would look up if i were to return to the lake district in the future!
My boyfriend and me, we stayed at Debbie and Chris' cottage for our short weekend in the Lake District.
The house is perfectly located. It is in the middle of the countryside. You can see green fields with sheeps and gentle hills just in front of the house. All around it is really peaceful.
It is a very characteristic house. The interiors are nicely decorated and furnished and the room we stayed was pretty, as our private bathroom.
We particularly appreciated to talk with Debbie and Chris. They are pleasant and welcoming. They gave us a lot of suggestions about places to visit and local pubs.
We definitely recommend to stay at their cottage!
Chris and Debbie made us feel really welcome in their lovely cottage. They were extremely helpful recommending the best hikes in the Lake District and lent us maps. We were lucky to have found such kind hosts who made sure we had a good time and a pleasant stay. Thank you Chris and Debbie.
Fantastic hosts! Couldn't have asked for better place to stay or nicer people
Lovely warm home and warm welcome
Bed was really comfy and the duvet covers good quality cotton
Everything really clean
Fantastic continental breakfast including yummy freshly made fruit salad
In summary, great people, great home, great location, great value :-)
Debbie and Mark have a super cottage and lay on a great breakfast but it is their hospitality and conviviality that sets them apart from other AirBnB hosts we've met. Our kids also loved petting the dogs and feeding the chickens. Thanks again guys for a smashing stay!
We stayed with Debbie and Chris over Valentines weekend and it was bar far one of the best and most relaxing nights away me and my fiance have ever had. Both Debbie and Chris couldnt of been more helpful and welcoming and considering this was our first time using Airbnb have set the bar very high. The house was warm, the bed was seriously comfy and the breakfast was perfect. I cannot reccomend staying here highly enough. Thank you so much and we look forward to hopefully staying again next time we head to Kendal.
We stayed as a group of friends looking for a relaxing winter holiday in the Lakes. We were very comfortable staying in Debbie and Chris' beautiful home and enjoyed two lovely evenings by the fire chatting late into the night. Chris and Debbie are very knowledgable about the Lakes and are more than willing to share experiences. I could recommend this place to anybody.
Debbie and Chris have a lovely cottage. The rooms are cosy and warm. Clean, comfortable bed with firm mattress for a good night sleep. I love the shower with its consistent temperature throughout the entire shower - a must have during winter.
Debbie n Chis are lovely hosts - we gather there are many interesting things we can do in Lake District n surrounding areas. If we come back again to explore we will certainly choose to stay with them again.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
