Shoes off in lobby please - hope that doesn't make us sound like control freaks :)
Myself and my husband along with our parents stayed at Debbie and Chris house for three nights. We absolutely loved our stay at their charming country house. It has a lot of character to it and Debbie and Chris were more then accommodating providing good recommendations, good conversations and a homely stay. We also had two friends call in and camp in their garden for two nights and again Debbie and Chris were very accommodating to them as well. We loved their dogs! the stay at their house is something that certainly made our trip around England that much more special. Thank you very much for the amazing experience!
Debbie and Chris were friendly lovely hosts and warmly welcomed us into their cottage. The place was homey and beautifully decorated with a quaint and cute feel. A delicious breakfast was made ready for us in the mornings and suggestions were given as to where to go for walks, etc. The old farm on which the cottage is set was refreshing and the cows and sheep really added to the fresh country feel. Delightful stay!
Debbie is a great host and the house and accommodation is perfect. It is quite and away from the main road. The breakfast is very good. I would recommend this to everyone.
Debbie and Chris were very welcoming and totally committed to their role as hosts. They were fully prepared for our arrival, the house was immaculate and with warm decor. The countryside surrounding this property was panoramic, open fields, rolling hills, stone fences, country cottages, livestock and views of the town. Apart from being able to walk into Kendall itself the lovely towns of Ambleside, Keswick, Windermere and Bowness were close by and an absolute must to visit. Both Debbie and Chris were very knowledgeable and their advice helped to make our day trips even better planned and interesting. We took a day trip into Edinburgh and on Chris' suggestion walked to Arthur's seat, an attraction we were not even aware of even though we had visited this city before. Our breakfasts were beautifully prepared and presented. The farm and parking are both easily accessible. We would thoroughly recommend this stay to anyone looking to explore this area.
We stayed 3 nights with Debbie & Chris. They were relaxed and engaging hosts. The room was very comfotable and exactly as described. The views of surrounding paddocks were engrossing. We were woken to cows mooing and sheep bleating. Lovely! Their information on the surrounding area was very helpful. This is a good base to explore the Lakes District
I can only give Chris and Debbie rave reviews! If I had to describe them in one word I would say: warm. They are the kindest, warmest, most inclusive and caring hosts. After miscommunications via email troubles whilst training around Europe I was super surprised that Chris was waiting for us at the train station. My last email had reached them only a few hours before our arrival and they were so generous to come and get us from the station (it was raining) on short notice. Even more generous, Chris drove us to dinner that night because we had not eaten - and came back to pick us up after dinner so we wouldn't have to walk home after a wearying day of travel. Wow. I have stayed at 3 different airbnb's and Chris and Debbie have cornered the market on kindness and tranquility. Their farm has a fascinating history and cozy vibe. We (the good friend I was with and I) loved their home, their breakfasts, their recommendations, and open and welcoming stance. I would go back in a heartbeat!
About the Host, Debbie
We are Deb and Chris. We both love the outdoors and spend lots of time in the fells. We know the Lake District really well and think it’s the best place in the world - especially when the sun shines! We have two sons now off expanding their horizons so have space to share. Debs entrepreneurial brother tells us we “need to make our assets sweat” (?!?) so we thought we’d try Airbnb and hope to meet some nice people along the way. We share a love of nature and try to live a low impact lifestyle but also enjoy nights out, food and the arts. Thank goodness for the Kendal Brewery Arts Centre – though it has to be said that Chris spends a lot more time in the bar than the theatre!
If you come and stay with us you’ll get a warm welcome, comfy rooms, easy access to the Lakes, Howgills and Dales and any advice you want about where to walk/climb/paraglide/bike/lakeswim/eat/drink etc. Hope to meet you soon.
