Situated on the boundary of the beautiful, world famous Lake District National Park and handy for the Yorkshire Dales National Park too - great for exploring the outdoors or chilling in beautiful countryside.
Our house is only 10 mins drive from the pretty town of Windermere. It is a 17 century former farmhouse, with lots of rustic character, surrounded by lovely countryside, including fields full of sheep and cows, gently grazing. However Kendal town centre only 20 mins walk away. There is off road parking and secure bike storage.
Wake up to the sound of the birds and sheep!
In our house we have a double room available, with a second double room if required.
Good cotton bed linen is provided along with towels.
The main room is £49 for 2 people including a continental breakfast.
A lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissant, toast, cereal is laid out in the mornings
We also have a third double room with a futon bed, which is very comfortable. The room also has the Computer and desk, which limits your space a little. But the room does not feel cramped. This can be booked, for a fifth person, including breakfast, when booked along with the other 2 rooms.
The bathroom which is exclusively for your use has an over the bath shower.
We also offer Free WIFI internet.
You can have the use of your own sitting room with woodburning stove, if required, or you can sit and chat to us over a cuppa, or a beer! There is no TV available.
Feel free to make tea, coffee, fruit/herbal teas in our kitchen whenever you like.
There are no cooking facilities available.
However if you don't feel like eating out you are welcome to bring a take away back to the house
The nearest railway stations are Kendal, or Oxenholme - pick up from Kendal station may be possible. The buses pass the end of our lane and take you into the heart of the Lake District.
Kendal is a pretty and lively market town with a good choice of restaurants etc and a theatre, cinema and leisure centre/swimming pool.
The house is set in stunning countryside and there are lovely walks from the house if you don’t want to drive. Windermere is only 8 miles away and you can be in our favourite place in the world, Langdale, in about 45mins.
We can advise you on walks to suit your needs and other places of interest, as we love the Lake District very much, and spend lots of time exploring it.
We have a friend who may be able to guide you on a walk if you feel like taking advantage of a local person's knowledge. Let us know in advance if this interests you and we may be able to organise this.
Debbie and Chris live in the house along with Poppy and Beanie our small, friendly dogs and we are looking forward to meeting you :). We realise that some people may not feel like meeting our dogs and that is fine. they are never allowed upstairs and they are happy to stay in their own space!!.
So go on give yourself a holiday! We would love to meet you.
Debbie and Mark have a super cottage and lay on a great breakfast but it is their hospitality and conviviality that sets them apart from other AirBnB hosts we've met. Our kids also loved petting the dogs and feeding the chickens. Thanks again guys for a smashing stay!
We stayed with Debbie and Chris over Valentines weekend and it was bar far one of the best and most relaxing nights away me and my fiance have ever had. Both Debbie and Chris couldnt of been more helpful and welcoming and considering this was our first time using Airbnb have set the bar very high. The house was warm, the bed was seriously comfy and the breakfast was perfect. I cannot reccomend staying here highly enough. Thank you so much and we look forward to hopefully staying again next time we head to Kendal.
We stayed as a group of friends looking for a relaxing winter holiday in the Lakes. We were very comfortable staying in Debbie and Chris' beautiful home and enjoyed two lovely evenings by the fire chatting late into the night. Chris and Debbie are very knowledgable about the Lakes and are more than willing to share experiences. I could recommend this place to anybody.
Debbie and Chris have a lovely cottage. The rooms are cosy and warm. Clean, comfortable bed with firm mattress for a good night sleep. I love the shower with its consistent temperature throughout the entire shower - a must have during winter.
Debbie n Chis are lovely hosts - we gather there are many interesting things we can do in Lake District n surrounding areas. If we come back again to explore we will certainly choose to stay with them again.
My friends and I stayed with Chris and Debbie in their lovely home for a fantastic November weekend. We were treated to scrummy breakfasts, great advice on where to go in the Lakes and lots of laughs over boardgames. Debbie and Chris are wonderful hosts and their home is just beautiful. We would highly recommend that you go and stay with them and no doubt you will have an amazing time. Oh and a great recommendation was Deja vu in Kendal, the food is superb! Thanks Debbie and Chris.
Excellent hosts! Breakfast was lovely and fresh both mornings. Deb even was so thoughtful as to have a nice token and card for my birthday. We would definitely stay again, absolutely loved the area, the house and the company. Hike where they recommend its worth it! Bed and bathroom both exceeded expectations jn the amazing 350 year old house.
Debbie and Chris were lovely and gracious hosts. Accommodations were great and their knowledge of the area for dining and exploring was superb.

Although Debbie was not in town for our visit, Chris was there to meet us at their lovely home. The home is even better than the pictures, and we had a wonderful stay, even though it was just for the night. Chris was very welcoming and helpful, providing us with good places to visit in the National Park. We had an absolutely wonderful experience.
A wonderful stay with Debbie and Chris. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with my family and I.
Their home is simply stunning, surrounded by tranquil countryside. Debbie and Chris are such a great couple who were so easy to get along with. It was lovely having our own bathroom and our beds were very comfortable. Lovely crisp, white, bed linen. We slept so well.
My daughter loved her stay, not wanting to come home and talks fondly of Chris and Debbie, asking when we can return. She loved helping Debbie feed the ducks! We were made to feel at home as soon as we walked through the door. Just wished we could have stayed longer. Hoping to return soon.
Debbie and Chris were fantastic hosts, making us feel at home in the lake district and feel really welcome in their place. A very comfortable bed, amazing views in all directions and a fantastic breakfast to start the day. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
