True North Cabin on Lake Superior in Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula is a two-acre private retreat. At the end of a small circle driveway nestled into the forest, you'll be welcomed by the sound of waves as you arrive at our renovated cabin. You'll have all the amenities for a memorable vacation stay. Explore the rocky conglomerate shore and be inspired by freighters, local wildlife, and starry skies with the perfect vantage point to see the northern lights.

The space
Experience magic moments with Lake Superior through a wall of windows or venture outside for sunrise/sunset (you can see them both!) on our new deck. In 2019, the cabin was fully upgraded to feature modern amenities in a still rustic yet functional style. Modern soft touches throughout include new mattresses (Purple) and luxury bedding, new appliances and a fully updated 3/4 bathroom.

The cabin has a cozy footprint of ~1,000 sq ft. The open floor plan and lofted ceilings bring in natural light for days and make for quite an amphitheater. There is not any cell service available at the cabin, which we consider an added bonus. We do have wifi available at the cabin for guest use.

Neighborhood highlights

The cabin peering on the edge of a unique conglomerate shoreline and is located on two acres of wooded property with over 300 feet of water frontage. By the water, there is only one other roofline within view. You have complete privacy during your stay.

A short drive along Lake Superior, five miles east, lands you in Copper Harbor with restaurants, world class mountain bike trails, a golf course, and a brewery. A seven-mile jaunt to the west is Eagle Harbor with a beautiful sand beach, lighthouse, old coast guard station turned museum, and trail systems. We love Cabins. Where else can you go to find the simple pleasures and disconnect from our gadgety world!? Our love for cabins started in 2018 when we purchased True North -- in need of much repair but in a breathtaking setting on Lake Superior. After that, we were hooked and recently added 9 more cabins that we're updating and sharing with those willing to adventure to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula -- the most beautiful place on earth. We love hosting! If you have a question about what to do or where to go, let us know. We want our guests to feel well-cared for when staying with us and we frequently use these places ourselves. Our goal is to provide an excellent stay with cozy, thoughtful touches and as much information about the local area as you like! We live in Hancock, Michigan but can frequently be found enjoying all the adventure spots in the Keweenaw. Our top recommendations for adventures in the Keweenaw: Copper Harbor mountain bike trails (world class trail system), The Fitz (best BBQ + craft beers/drinks anywhere -- sorry TX), backpacking Isle Royale (a 4-hour ferry ride from Copper Harbor), Mount Brockway and Baldy (local sightseeing and hiking), Eagle Harbor Inn (pizza and great eats!), and hunting agates and Yooperlites.
