Interaction with Guests
A friend of mine will greet guests to hand over the keys & take them to the house, showing them where everything is, & advising on local amenities etc.
Olvera is a true Spanish working town, & as such, will give visitors a taste of the true Andalucía, behind the Costas.
There is a local bus station with various services to Ronda, Seville, Moron & Malaga. There is also a train station 20 minutes away where you can get on the Algeciras-Granada line.
No smoking indoors please. House is best for 2 people but there is a sofa bed in the lounge that is fine for extra sleeping.
NB. Minimum stay for Christmas & New Year is 3 nights.
We were made to feel very welcome and the apartment was just as described on the listing. Fantastic location too!
We had a lovely 3 day stay in Olvera. We were met by friends of Linda's who showed us around the property and pointed towards good eateries.
It was a very relaxed and peaceful few days. Linda's place is small but perfect for holiday-beautiful views from the balcony! Despite some concern about the bells keeping us awake they did no such thing (and I am a light sleeper!).
We did the Via Verde on bikes which I highly recommend.
Thank you for a great time!
We had a wonderful stay in Olvera, a sleepy pueblo blanco with great hiking and cycling opportunities and a most wonderful view from the terrace where we had breakfast and tapas at night. We felt very welcome, thanks Lynda for having us! The only drawback of this place is the bell tower nearby that, picturesque as it might be, at night we felt tempted to cut the chord of.... ;-)
Lynda was very responsive and gave us some good tips on Olvera. The views from her terrace were amazing, and she has a well equipped house. We did feel it was quite dusty though, as if noone had been staying there for some time..
I am sorry that you felt the house was dusty Urska, but due to its situation, it is an ongoing problem trying to keep it down. When it is breezy, it comes in through the doors & windows & even after a thorough clean....which is done before & after every guest...it soon settles again.
Otherwise, I hope you enjoyed your brief stay.
In the end, we were unable to stay as my friend had to go into hospital. Lynda was extremely nice and offered to refund the money, which she didn't have to do. I refused but she has agreed to carry it over for us if ever we want to stay again. She was very accommodating and just wanted to know whether my friend was OK. I hope I get to stay there some other time.
The place is perfect. The location is central and the views from the sun terrace are absolutely outstanding. The style of the accommodation is gorgeous. Kitchen has everything you could need, including lots of food basics (and more than just basics!). It's less than 17 mins downhill walk to the start of the Via Verde and less than ten mins walk to the bus station. The people of Olvera are so friendly and it is a really lovely little town, not overrun with tourists! I found this place to be absolutely perfect to spend a relaxing few days after a few weeks travelling. Would recommend the Via Verde, gorgeous! This really is a fabulous place to stay!
Very nice place, with everything that you need for a stay. Magnificient wiew. Quite near the churchbells, but we got used to that:-) Lovely town and surroundings.
Hello Ove, I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay in Olvera & Stairway to Heaven. I'm afraid that much as it would make the view more accessible, lowering the wall wouldn't be an option, partly from a safety point of view, and partly because of the way the external staircase is anchored....but I do agree that it would make it even better! I was a bit concerned when my adjoining neighbours extended their house upwards (that's the wall as you look at the castle) as this obscured some of the original view, but thankfully, they made a good job of it, & it makes it more private from people climbing the tower!
