Other things to note
Noise travels easily. There might be noise from the neighbors if they're talking loud. The neighbors above are quiet, but the lofts on either side of this unit are my other Airbnbs, so noise level from there is more unpredictable and will vary. Some people who are lighter sleepers may be bothered by building noises (radiator pipes, etc). I provide a sound machine to drown out noise.

Neighborhood highlights

Welcome to Milwaukee Junction in Detroit, MI. A neighborhood 2 miles north east if Midtown, and 1 mile East of North End.

The building is tucked away in its own little nook in Milwaukee Junction. It is historically an industrial area which drew the implantation of the train junction. Today it is still mainly an industrial area, with active industrial businesses here, however, it is an up and coming neighborhood with old factories converted to lofts, bars, music venues and community spaces.

There are a few cafes, restaurants, and bars a 15 min walk away: Milwaukee Café, the neighborhood cafe, Keisling, the neighborhood bar, and two top Detroit restaurants: Freya, and Oak and Reel.

Please note that there are a couple of abandoned buildings nearby. But they’re just that, abandoned. There’s never any squatters or shady activity in the area. It’s very safe and quiet. Parking is safe. After hosting around 7,000 people here, I feel confident about my guests’ safety as it pertains to inside of the unit and their cars in the parking lot. This location has its perks like being close to freeways, downtown, free parking, private entry, safe, etc but it might not be ideal for people who prefer to stay in more developed, residential areas.

The people who occupy the loft complex are friendly, and it feels like a community. Our neighbors include a diverse set of artists, students, young professionals, young families, and some people who have been living here for 10+ years.

I first started hosting in Detroit in 2012 through Couch Surfing. I really enjoyed showing people the city & making connections with people all over the world. Later, I worked at a hostel in Crete, which solidified my sense of belonging in the hospitality industry. As an Airbnb host I get to do my dream job everyday. I love designing eclectic & peaceful spaces, with the guests’ comfort in mind.
