Frogs are in the pond and wildflowers are blooming! Our guesthouse, created in 2020, is an oasis next to the Wayne National Forest and Ohio's Windy 9, a serene and calming experience for two adults, with scenic views from every window. Our private retreat was designed to be green and holistic - with Appalachian comfort! Tree tops surround us. We are a certified wildlife habitat, pollinator habitat and haven for birds and butterflies. Read our guest reviews!

The space
Go back to nature at our cottagecore guesthouse, a fully equipped home, ready for you! It is full of upcycled, recycled and natural features. It has solar panels; a Scandinavian, waterless, electric toilet; a recycle/waste container and composting bin and has all the amenities you need!
We provide high speed internet, a Smart TV with DVD and Chromecast, reading materials, a yoga mat, games, puzzles and musical instruments. Enjoy the piano, guitar, or the native drums in this space, as you unwind from the outside world.
We feature an all natural interior with live edge wood from our property. Slate, stone, iron and wood are the themes of this space.
A king size bed, high quality sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and all natural body products are available for you.
The bathroom features river stone flooring and has a heated towel rack, upcycled roofing slate shower walls, and small jet spray bathtub.
The walk-in closet has drawers and hangers for your clothing, a makeup station, robes for you to wear, an iron and ironing board, clothes steamer and fire extinguisher.
Relax in front of the indoor heating fireplace or toast marshmallows at the outdoor fire pit- firewood provided!
Grill dinner on our propane grill or wood fire pit. The kitchen has an induction stove top for energy reduction, microwave/convection oven, French press, Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster and is stocked for any cook. Individual condiments, snacks, drinks and farm fresh eggs are available to you. All utensils, table ware, bowls, pans and knives are ready for cooking. A spice rack contains many popular choices.
Outdoor seating is available on the balcony or large wrap around porch, with tin roof overhead, or on the picnic table seats in the scenic gardens.
Warm weather guests are able to eat whatever is fresh in our raised bed vegetable gardens or greenhouse, and choose from a variety of home grown herbs for cooking or for tea.
A new bright yellow lawn game cupboard has been added with instructions and cornhole, croquet, ring toss, lawn darts, ladder ball, yard dice, and badminton ready to play!
Ample parking around the guest house, as it is on our property, with no neighbors or other houses nearby. Only nature!

Where you’ll be

Millfield, Ohio, United States

In the heart of Appalachia, southeast Ohio has many options for visitors. We are near Ohio University and numerous shopping, hiking and biking experiences. We have a Visitor Guide binder in the guesthouse to share our favorites for local attractions, activities, restaurants, outdoor locations and places to see.
The Big Bailey Mountain Bike Trail Trail Head is just down the road. The Buckeye Trail, which circles Ohio, has several trails to hike nearby. The Wayne National Forest is in our backyard and provides wildlife, numerous trees and ongoing beauty year-round. Stroud's Run, Burr Oak State Park, Wildcat Hollow Trail and Lake Hope are options that have lakes and hiking trails. There are also paved bike paths for scenic walking and bike riding.
Our area is also known for micro-brews and craft beer which are served at Devil's Kettle; Little Fish; Eclipse Company Store and Jackie O's. Pleasant Hill Winery, Shade Winery, and Hocking Hills Winery serve local wines, while Wolftree Winery specializes in mead. The West End Ciderhouse offers a selection of cider crafted from Ohio-grown apples and also mix both classic and innovative cocktails. The West End Distillery uses the finest, locally-sourced fruits, grains, roots, and herbs to produce top-shelf spirits and that embody flavors and styles uniquely Appalachian.

Don and I love to create things. We moved and rebuilt an 1830 log cabin on the same property and work each day to live fully. We are homesteaders, green advocates and nature lovers who want to share the feelings of satisfaction of being in this space. Some guests are interested in gardening, or learning more about options to help our planet and we are able to share ideas. We want all guests to feel welcomed, pampered, at peace and fully relaxed.

During your stay
We will be available throughout your stay, to ensure that you have what you need. We may need to tend the garden, greenhouse and pond outside during the day, or do some work in our separate downstairs studio.
