Hostel Riad Marrakech Rouge has the loveliest dorms in the medina of Marrakech. A palace with rainbow walls, hand carved ceilings and comfortable, cosy and happy surroundings - you will have a truly Morocco experience staying here. Our staff know more than (website hidden), our Moroccan tea flows like a waterfall all day every day. Marrakech Rouge is full of colourful dorms from 4-10 people and we even give you the option of staying in one of our Berber tents on the terrace which in the summer period is amazing.
There is a guest kitchen for use at any time of the day, or perhaps you would like to undertake a cooking class on the rooftop terrace. It is nice to feel at home when you stay in a hostel, so expect a cosy, happy and social environment where it is easy to make friends.
We are based in the Riad Zitoun Jdid area of the Marrakech medina which is in the centre of the medina - just next to Place D'Jeema el Fna in the middle of all the action.
There is a public car park which costs about 20MAD per day about 2 minutes from the hostel opposite Palais Bahia, and the No. 19 airport shuttle is about 7 minutes by the Koutoubia Mosque.
We recently won a Hostelworld HOSCAR Award for 8th Best Overall Hostel in the World which we were obviously really happy about. Come and try it out!
My friend and I went in Morocco in January. We booked one night in this place and we didn't regret it. It is perfect place for backpackers. First we got place in a room for 5 i think... When we came back from the city there was a little misunderstanding about beds, but we settle everything very fast. But in few minutes came Layla and said that there is separate room free and asked if we want to go there. Of course we took it ( i think we got that because we booked a room from Airbnb, it costs a little bit more booking from here, so we were very happy that we got that room). We had a big bed and separate shower with hot water.
We were traveling around Morocco and Marrakech was the first place for us, so we hoped to meet some people who could give us some advices. We were very happy that we booked this place for first night - we got what we hoped to get. It's good place to meet other backpackers, get some advices and have a good time. It was even sad to leave.
I red that there was a problem with staff, but we didn't have that problem. There was 3 hosts(i think..) and you can easily find them. So, I am recommending this place for backpackers and students or people who are searching for fun place to stay in Marrakech.
Thanks for everything,
Service was never prompt; they are totally understaffed. It took over an hour just to check me into my room. I was put in a room that was clearly only big enough for six beds, but they had shoved a children's bed up by the lockers as a seventh, which was where I was placed. The bed isn't really big enough for an adult, and because there was not enough space in the room for it, people literally had to step over me to get to their lockers. I was constantly kicked in the head all night long because of this.
They have staff that comes every morning to make the beds and tidy up, which is nice. But every time the woman came in she would move my stuff around and things would get misplaced. Then one morning I went to the shower for about 5 minutes (the water was freezing). In that time the woman came and made my bed, but the sweater I had left on it was completely gone. I never found it, even after asking the staff.
I also had to shorten my trip unexpectedly due to family trouble and asked the staff if I could get a refund for the nights I had to cancel. I would have understood if they simply said that it was against their policy. But instead I got a two day runaround where no matter who I talked to they told me I had to speak to someone else, and when I finally found that person (they were conveniently never around), they told me I had to speak to someone else (who was also conveniently never around), and so on.
I do not recommend this place. Also, their prices are so much more expensive over Airbnb than if you just book at the hostel or through their website. Like 50% more. If you insist on staying here, don't book through Airbnb!
(email hidden) to hang out at. Hope to be back soon.
I had a very warm welcome and we were served morocco-stle tea at any time without surcharge. Professional service (free towels, beds were made) and clean rooms as well.
Cosy dorms and beautiful rooftop-chillout areas which must be awesome in summertime.
Can highly recommend that place!!
Extremely nice place to stay - decoration is beautiful! Also, personnel is very friendly and the hostel is very near the main square in Marrakech, then definitely a place to be :)
This is a very lovely and lively hostel. The decoration is fantastic (according to my taste) and the hosts are very kind and helpful. You will meet a lot of young travelers from all over the world who are usually happy to share their experience. So, overall an amazing place, but be aware that it's very hot during summer and if you're looking for something quiet, this is probably not the best place.
Great place to stay for a good price. The environment is very refreshing and the staff are friendly. Centrally located and plenty of different rooms to stay in. Sleeping on the roof is a good experiences also. Definitely recommend.
I arrived one day before I had booked, but the staff understood my confusion and was really helpful! He sent me to another hostel in the same local. The another place was as beautiful as the first one and the staff was EXTREMELY WONDERFUL!!! The owner of the riad, Malik, help us all the time in everything we wanted. I would back there for sure! GREAT EXPERIENCE! =D
