This typical Belgian row house with five floors was built in 1933 but was completely gutted and renovated in 2009. It now has new insulation on the back and front facades, solar hot water, triple glazed acoustic windows (which eliminate street and aircraft noise), captured filtered rain water for the toilets and washing machine, a controlled ventilation system, new heating, new electricity, new plumbing, and a water softener.
There are lots of great things to do in and around Brussels and your hostess can supply all the tourist information, public transport information and other tips you will need!
If you come by car, use of a garage close to the house may be possible for a small extra fee, depending on who else is there at the time and availability. There is some street parking as well, although technically, one is supposed to have a permit from the local town hall.
For parties of more than two people, it may be possible to accommodate additional people (e.g. baby, child, an extra adult) in other bedrooms in the house, depending on availability, so if you are a family or a small group of adults, please get in touch to discuss options.
PLEASE CONTACT ME to discuss dates/options BEFORE making a booking. The house has other rooms, also sometimes available although not obvious from this listing, and a self-contained studio apartment, in addition to this particular room.
Guests have access to the laundry (with washing machine and dryer and hanging space) in the basement. They may also use the garden. They also share the kitchen/living/dining room with 3 other people.
Anne, who owns the house, also lives in the house. Everyone in the house comes and goes at different times, so you may meet others in the kitchen, or you may not! It's quite a social group when we are all there!
Schaerbeek is a middle-class neighbourhood in Brussels, between the old centre and the airport, with a very large park in the middle of the commune, 2 minutes across the road from the house.
Buses 64 and 65 run right past the house.

You do not need a car when you stay in this house, unless you want to go into areas in the Belgian countryside off the beaten track. For sightseeing and generally getting around in Brussels, public transport is more than adequate.
