About This Listing
Casa Calafia is our special house where we go to relax from time to time. We like to share it with you. It is located outside of the two towns, in a community called El Tule right in the middle of the Resort Corridor, close to the Marbella Suites.
This is a beautiful villa on the Cabo Corridor, between the two cities of San Lucas and San Jose. There is a convenient bus stop in front of the house. The beach which is large and secluded, is across the street, and you can hear the ocean roar in bed. The villa has many fine art work to give you a great ambience. There are two kingsize bedrooms and one two double bedroom upstairs each with their own bathroom. There is a queen bedroom downstairs with its own bathroom. There is a game room with a pool table and a multiple game table, and a futon for two, and two more folding beds, to sleep 2 more. Maximum capacity is 14. There is a spa and a pool, and outdoor BBQ. There is a bathroom at the pool also. There are so many sitting areas outside and inside. The kitchen is large and the formal dining room is very comfortable for 8 formal sittings. It is a very relaxing house. This a no smoking house. Please respect this.
$350 to $500.per day.
It is best to have a car to run to the store. Costco is only 5 minutes away and Walmart is only 10 minutes away. There are other large Mexican shopping malls nearby. The bus stop is just outside the house convenient to take to go to either towns, only 15 minutes away in either direction. The beach is just across the hwy and it is very private and quiet. You have it all to yourself. You do not have to worry about hawkers harrasing you or the crowded beaches in San Lucas.
Interaction with Guests
My manager Luis and Lizzette are responsive to your needs. Let me know if you need something special and I can see if they can accomodate you.
There is a local bus service with the bus stop right in front of the house.
Positively no smoking in the house. No pets.
James made us feel very welcome and his guest letter was very thorough and helpful. The listing description was accurate. The only thing that we found to be annoying in the neighborhood was the constant noise from the traffic going by---day and night.
We were contacted thoroughly before our trip by James to make sure we were ready and had accurate directions to his home in Mexico. He was correct to say it was easy to find. We contacted Louis his rep in Cabo when we showed up. Louis and his sweet wife met us when we got to the house. This house is beautiful and had all the things promised. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook group meals for our party of 10. Any issues we had were promptly fixed and responded to by Louis. The traffic from HWY1 was a little loud at night while sleeping but didn't seem to keep us awake long. Outdoor pool/spa was great for our group and I really enjoyed using the large outdoor grill. Kitchen stove had some issues lighting and a few things around the house can use some general maintenance. If you are an able person/ group however, you will have no issues working around these minor non perfect problems. All and all,..great stay for a great rate. Thanks for having us James.
Link to FULL review: (website hidden) RENTERS BEWARE – our ‘due diligence’ for you. We knew there was a hurricane in September and when we booked (9/17/14) the owner never disclosed any damages even after asked. We trusted that IF that were the case he would have replied truthfully. Contacted him again on 12/5, his reply, “yes we suffered a lot of damaged. We were just down at the house after the windows were replaced. We could not even go there until now. The place is now almost ready. In the next 20 days the house will be painted, new air-conditions will be placed… The house shall have a new roof in the next 20 days. It will be open for business with the first group on Dec. 25th. You will have an almost brand new house with fresh paint etc." At a later time he indicated we were the 4th group since the hurricane– why no reviews?!? We arrived about 8pm to a hot home with no phone working to call the manager. No welcome/instruction book. First 3 days: HVAC, phone/Wi-Fi, and propane workers out to work on issues. No new roof, sporadic hot water, debris in the yard, kept ice in refrigerator to keep perishables cold… You cannot "hear the ocean roar in bed”or outside whatsoever, all we ever heard was traffic noise from the highway directly in front of the house all day & night. And terrible pool table. Text from him on the 4th day (12:22am), “Sorry for all the breakdown all at one time. It was working very well for the guest who were there 2 weeks before your group… I may call you on the house phone tomorrow, so answer the house. I want to check to see that it is working well.” Same day we had garage door issues– he called that evening, was going into great detail about the “g” switch that was found earlier in the conversation, I indicated we were in the middle of a family game and already 4 days into our vacation and had to face far too many issues (I’m close to tears at this point). He asked if I would be happy to get all my money back and have a free vacation on him. Shocked, I said that would be very nice. He said he was writing a check right now, mailing it to me because he was a doctor and didn't need the money as much as I did. I NEVER expected a FULL refund. Believing him we refrained from contacting him until the last day to enquire how to prepare for our departure. We had cleaned the kitchen, laundered some towels, and made sure everything was tidy, leftover food/alcohol- toss it or leave it? I was simply told by him if the manager didn’t show up to leave the house open with the garage door opener & keys in the house. No one showed. And… well… the check never came– according to him it...
James was very responsive to all my questions prior to our arrival at Casa Calafia. If you have a large group, like we did (12 people), who like to cook and have all the amenities of a home while on vacation, then this is the way to go.
The house is beautiful, and in a great, safe location. Go to the nearby glass factory, and try the snorkeling at Playa Chileno, just a couple miles away. And further away, to Cabo Pulmo, where we swam with a turtle. The best restaurant we found was a little hole-in-the-wall, Taqueria Rossy, in San Jose del Cabo, which served authentic Mexican food. My seabass with garlic was fantastic!
Luis, who oversees the house was very helpful to us as well. He is very knowledgeable about fishing and told us where to go to get a boat and guide for offshore fishing. Needless to say, we scored!
One piece of advice though. As this is a very large home, running the air conditioning in all rooms will cause the system to overload, so be prepared to ration your use.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and would recommend this villa to others.
Hi, we just came back from staying in this beautiful home in San Jose del Cabo. It was perfect! The owner and property manager were very pleasant. They were both very easy to contact and were more than helpful. We had a wonderful time and everything went flawlessly (which in Mexico is a rare thing).
I can recommend this Villa 100%. It is huge, has all the amenities you need, great location, and very nice people to deal with.
Thanks again, we will be back soon.
If the guest would replace the remote after using them it would not walk away. I did find the TV remote but the air-condition remote is now permanently missing. I would have to buy another universal remote. The second time I have to do this for that room downstairs. I think we are going to charge for missing remote from now on.
We had an amazing time at Casa Calafia. James and his manager Luis are great, the house was big enough to accommodate our party of 10. Even when its right at the highway its quiet enough for a relaxing time by the pool. The tennis court its great to start an active day. The house its located right between Cabo and San Jose so renting a car would be a good option. The AC is strong for a nice and cool weather inside the house, the kitchen very spacious and complete. I had to work one morning and the little office space made my "working hours" feel like it was nothing. I would stay at Casa Calafia on my next trip to Cabo San Lucas no doubt about it. Thanks Luis for a great service and congratulations James your house is beautiful.
