The oldest and most loved by travelers and artists, Hostel Anton is a family run sunny place with private and dorm rooms, breathtaking sea view and affordable national food and drinks.
Perfect base for exploring Montenegro and the Balkans.
Hostel Anton is above all, a place to have fun, meet interesting people, rest and relax. It is also an ideal starting point for exploration of Montenegro and its neighboring countries. Our main goal is to attract young (at heart), creative, open-minded people whose stay at the Hostel would make a difference in their and our lives. Somehow, the unique atmosphere of the Adriatic coast, and our position on it does attract musicians, painters, writers, traveling theatre groups, jewelry makers and all kinds of unique people. This atmosphere is partly provided by the geographic position of our house, which has a huge, breathtaking sea view and a green garden. Our oriental-style gazebo, the full bar and banana, orange and fig-trees probably help in the creation of this small, hidden paradise (at least we think so). Also, we prefer to make things on our own and we collect antique stuff. The Hostel was also built from the bricks of the hundred-year-old house that belonged to my grandfather Anton (yes, therefore the name). If you appreciate unique, creative atmosphere and people, you will enjoy our Hostel, for sure. You will have an opportunity to hear a variety of bands and solo musicians play at the Hostel, see people painting or making jewelry, this is a living place! You can always get plenty of rest, of course, and silence too, when needed.
The staff is artistic, helpful, friendly, open-minded, and efficient. Artists and musicians get 10% off (better learn to play guitar or something ;-). We are a proud member of Balkans Best Hostels Association, which gives you 5 % off your stay at any of the Hostels from the Association.
Private rooms and dorm rooms with garden or sea view, shared bathrooms during high summer season, 24 hour reception, security lockers, free bicycle, motorbike and car parking, breakfast included, movie projector with 500 movies to choose from!, green garden with an outdoor bar and a gazebo, car and bicycle rentals, linen and towels included, washer and dryer - laundry service, free internet access, Wifi, book exchange,Art Club, board games, meal available, hairdryer, luggage storage, full service info, guides and maps and much more!

Tivat has a convenient position (at the heart of the bay), which is quite important because it allows easy and quick transfer to all interesting locations and important cities (Kotor, Budva, Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Dubrovnik, etc.)

Hostel Anton is just 3 km from the airport which is located in Tivat and 2 km from the bus station. The Railway station is located in Sutomore and that is 60 km from Tivat. The capital city of Montenegro, Podgorica is 88 km away. 60 km away is gorgeous Dubrovnik (Croatia), 25 km away is Croatian border, 30 km away is the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, 100 km - the border with Albania and 180 km - the border with Serbia.
Our Hostel is situated 500 meters from the sea. Public transportation is reliable and cheap, but we can always provide you with a rent a car, rent a bike, or a taxi. Tivat Bay has great beaches and beach bars some of which are in a walking distance from our Hostel.

Nous avons passé 2 jours à Tivat. Nous avons dormi a l'hotel Anton qui est une auberge de jeunesse conviviale, simple et sans esbrouffe, loin de l'ambiance de la ville !
Very nice stay at the Hostel Anton during our tour with the kids.
Place is very well situated for a visit around the Kotor area; our kids appreciated the little pool on the roof, we enjoyed the welcome and relaxed atmosphere and the cool people we had the occasion to meet there.
People were kind and helpful and we liked the relaxed breakfast.
Soup of the evening meal was just a little toi salty for our tastes, but perhaps it's the way when it's hot to use more salt than we do ? :-)
We'll recommand the place.
The Art Hostel is an excellent accommodation for anyone who enjoys good music and is looking for a friendly, peaceful location with breathtaking views and close to the city.
A good value hostel with a fun, bohemian atmosphere. We stayed in a very nice private room with a terrace giving onto the mountains, a lovely view we enjoyed for 5 nights. The entire hostel is very clean, bathrooms are cleaned regularly, breakfast is included and you can enjoy a basic but filling dinner for 5 euros. And the owner's dog will show you the way to the beach.
The hostel is up the hill ; if you walk down to the sea front you'll find a few concrete / pebbled beaches with a lot of tourists but also a nice little harbour we thought was more authentic, and if you keep walking you'll get to Porto Montenegro with its jetties and its luxury yachts... and good ice-cream.
Back to the hostel : given the details we had we expected to have a little more nature around us but it was pretty anyway. Some of the staff were really nice and helpful but we also expected a little more help booking tours etc.
Tivat is a good base to explore the region, but it was sometimes a bit difficult to get around (we walked + took buses, but they aren't always reliable) so I'd say this is a better location if you have a car ! Two other little downsides : we didn't mind music being played in the evening but sometimes it was a little too loud, and a little too late in the night... ! And also, beware of the mosquitos, there were plenty of those.
That being said, we met very interesting people, and had a nice stay.
I'd recommend this place for backpackers willing to relax between a hike over Kotor and a rafting trip down the Tara river.
I very much enjoyed my two nights at the hostel and liked the ambiance so much I spent much of one day there writing and talking to other guest and staff rather than sightseeing. The ambiance made by the owners and staff was very relaxing and my hosts went to extra effort to help me with bus reservations. Although several very large groups came and went in my stay there, they were not a problem.
I had dinner twice, both times with little forewarning, and both times I was welcomed. Everyone was very flexible.
As the cheapest accomodation we have found we have nothing to say again. A good dinner.
Very welcoming host. Staff happy to help. I liked the wooden interior and the personal decoration. We stayed in a private room with beatiful seaview. To be recommended.
