About this listing
Enjoy a lovely sea view conveniently located only one and a half miles from Dingle. Three minute walk to a local beach and come back to enjoy a cup of tea on the patio while you use the complimentary BBQ grill. King bed two singles and a full kitchen.
The studio has a lovely view from the kitchenette table of the sea and out to Skellig Michael. There is a king size comfortable bed and there are steep loft stairs to two single beds. No small children please.
Guests have their own private entry and use of the patio with table and chairs.
Things to do right from Beenbawn Cottage;
Stroll 3 minutes to beautiful Beenbawn Strand at the cove where “Fungie,” our resident dolphin, frolics daily. Howls of delight from Fungie watchers on boats will alert you to his activities.
Have a swim in the clear cool water or borrow some fishing tackle and try your hand at catching dinner.
A 30-meter pre-Christian ringfort is about a five-minute walk from the cottage off the boreen to Doonsean (Dún Síon). This national historic site has Ogham writing on lapidated oval stones from the storm beach at Minard. I will give you more historical information and directions once you are here.
Pack a picnic lunch and wander up to the top of Beenbawn head. Walk safely along the cliffs to the stone cairn at the peak for breath-taking views of Dingle Bay and passing fishing and sail boats. You can see across to the Beara Peninsula, Skellig Michael, and Valentia Island where the first transatlantic cable linked Europe to America. To the west is Eask Tower marking the entrance to Dingle Harbour.
Interaction with Guests
I live on site in the attached bungalow. I am available for any visitor information that you may require and have many suggestions for interesting off the beaten path adventures. Beenbawn is so beautiful I want to share it.
Beenbawn is a quaint hamlet of 19 farmhouses a mile from Dingle. You can walk to town along the seaside by the lighthouse, or take the fuscia-lined boreen (road) past the track of the annual Dingle Races and then the main road until you come to town. We are a cluster of family homes by the sea with horses, dairy cows, and sheep on the hillside.
Taxis are readily available for €7 to get into town. It is only one and a half miles and the drive time is under 5 minutes. There are national buses that service Dingle with connections to other towns. The village is very walkable with numerous shops, pubs and interesting places to visit.
Other Things to Note
I have a friendly dog and one outside cat. I'm open to people bringing their dog on holiday as long as it is kept on lead if it chases cats or livestock. If you leave the dog in the studio while you go out no barkers please. I have a horse that I occasionally keep next to the house if I'm going to ride or drive her the next day. Please don't feed her without asking.
I work in the mornings so please be considerate of late night noise. Have fun and bring a happy attitude.
We had the best time in Dingle; Maureen was a brilliant host; her apartment has everything you could want and more; great location, really clean and the stove was hreat! Everything was really straight forward collecting and returning the keys; miss the relaxed, laid back Dingle vibe already! Thanks Maureen
Beenbawn cottage was perfect! The key transition was very easy and everything was as described. A perfect location. Despite the rain we had a great time!
Maureen was a great host. The location couldn't have been better. Her place is very clean, and well
Kept. My wife and I enjoyed staying in Dingle, beautiful town with lots of history.
House was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Although it was 2.5k from the town, it benefitted from being very quiet, with easy access to adjacent cove and cliffs (from which Fungi was visible in the bay). The apartment ideally suits 2 adults or a family with up to two children. Maureen was warm, friendly and helpful, but not intrusive in any way. The only addition that we would suggest would be a second armchair, but Maureen assures us that plans for this are in hand.
We had a lovely stay at this studio just outside of Dingle! Maureen is very friendly and helpful without intruding. The studio is spacious and clean and the property is beautiful. We loved that in a few short minutes walk we were on the beach. Walking Teddy, Maureen's dog, on the cliffs above the beach was a highlight for me. We even saw Fungi in the bay below! Definitely a peaceful place to stay if you want to be close to Dingle but not in the center of town. Thanks again Maureen!
We had a fantastic time in Dingle. Accommodation in a fantastic location with a beautiful beach, a short walk away. Close to Dingle town. Our host was very friendly & told us about interesting places to go, and best places to eat. Accomodation was just perfect for our holiday. We highly recommend it.
