Enjoy a lovely sea view conveniently located only one and a half miles from Dingle. Three minute walk to a local beach and come back to enjoy a cup of tea on the patio while you use the complimentary BBQ grill. King bed and a full kitchen.
The studio has a lovely view from the kitchenette table of the sea and out to Skellig Michael. There is a king size comfortable bed and there are steep loft stairs to two single beds. No small children please.
Guests have their own private entry and use of the patio with table and chairs.
Things to do right from Beenbawn Cottage;
Stroll 3 minutes to beautiful Beenbawn Strand at the cove where “Fungie,” our resident dolphin, frolics daily. Howls of delight from Fungie watchers on boats will alert you to his activities.
Have a swim in the clear cool water or borrow some fishing tackle and try your hand at catching dinner.
A 30-meter pre-Christian ringfort is about a five-minute walk from the cottage off the boreen to Doonsean (Dún Síon). This national historic site has Ogham writing on lapidated oval stones from the storm beach at Minard. I will give you more historical information and directions once you are here.
Pack a picnic lunch and wander up to the top of Beenbawn head. Walk safely along the cliffs to the stone cairn at the peak for breath-taking views of Dingle Bay and passing fishing and sail boats. You can see across to the Beara Peninsula, Skellig Michael, and Valentia Island where the first transatlantic cable linked Europe to America. To the west is Eask Tower marking the entrance to Dingle Harbour.
Interaction with Guests
I live on site in the attached bungalow. I am available for any visitor information that you may require and have many suggestions for interesting off the beaten path adventures. Beenbawn is so beautiful I want to share it.
Beenbawn is a quaint hamlet of 19 farmhouses a mile from Dingle. You can walk to town along the seaside by the lighthouse, or take the fuscia-lined boreen (road) past the track of the annual Dingle Races and then the main road until you come to town. We are a cluster of family homes by the sea with horses, dairy cows, and sheep on the hillside.
Taxis are readily available for €7 to get into town. It is only one and a half miles and the drive time is under 5 minutes. There are national buses that service Dingle with connections to other towns. The village is very walkable with numerous shops, pubs and interesting places to visit.
Other Things to Note
I have a friendly dog and one outside cat. I'm open to people bringing their dog on holiday as long as it is kept on lead if it chases cats or livestock. If you leave the dog in the studio while you go out no barkers please. I have a horse that I occasionally keep next to the house if I'm going to ride or drive her the next day. Please don't feed her without asking.
I work in the mornings so please be considerate of late night noise. Have fun and bring a happy attitude.
Maureen was a wonderful host. She took the time to explain how all the Different (Irish) things worked in her home. Incredibly knowledgeable of Dingle, quick to suggest driving routes and places to see. Excellent ocean view from the kitchen and living area. Maureen's place is clean and open, every thing you might need is close at hand. BBQ was the first we had seen in Ireland. :) Pleasant and quiet neighborhood. Will stay with her next time we make it to Ireland.
We had a great week in Dingle with Maureen who was very helpful. Accommodation was even better than we imagined, very spacious!
Lovely being near the beach and on edge of town. Heating excellent, even peat for the fire!! Thanks for a lovely stay, Maureen.
I had one of the best new years ever down in Dingle this year and a big part of it was down to how great our accommodation was and how helpful Maureen was.
Dingle is a place that run's on local knowledge and Maureen was always there to let us know what was happening, where to go, and what to do. I don't think our trip would have been as enjoyable if we didn't have someone who knew the local area and town.
Everything in the house was perfect, it all worked and was clean. The wood burning stove was a life saver during our stay because it was kind of wet a few nights. I can't recommend this place enough, it's in a beautiful location, everything works, and everyone is welcoming and helpful. What more could you ask for?
Vielen Dank!!
Maureen was a wonderful host! Her apartment is spacious, lovely, and has everything you may need. It is the perfect location along the cliffs and near the beach. It is a great space if you are traveling with family since there is a king sized bed and two twins in the loft. Maureen was very helpful answering any questions we had. Her two outdoor cats were very friendly.
We had a great time staying here. Maureen was very responsive and helpful getting us settled in. The apartment itself is extremely comfortable and in a very peaceful location. It is still very convenient and cheap to travel into Dingle as taxis know the place by name. There are a lot of beautiful and fun places to visit nearby and overall staying here was part of a fantastic holiday. I'd definitely want to stay here again if I was visiting Dingle.
Maureen made myself, my wife & 2 kids feel very welcome. She was there if needed, not in any way intrusive. She even babysat for us! I feel the photos don't do the accommodation justice, it's difficult to convey an atmosphere. But, I felt immensely comfortable there, slept like a log. It's moments away from a beautiful beach & cliffs, perfect for early morning walks, coffee in hand!
Maureen is a charming host, with plenty of local knowledge, if needed.
Personally, I'm not a hot tub kinda guy, at least that's what I thought, as I found myself languishing in it on 2 occasions, prosecco in hand!
It's about a 20 minute walk to Dingle, along a country lane way, then a main rd.
Personally, I just got a taxi, really cheap and efficient, safer too, after 5 pints of Guinness. During daylight hours, you can walk to Dingle, via the cliffs, it takes about 40 minutes, but, hey, what's the rush?
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, any time of year, I bet it's wild in the winter.
I loved it and will most definitely be returning, sooner, rather than later.
Many thanks, Maureen.
See you again,
