Zurenborg is an area in south-east Antwerp largely developed between 1894 and 1906 that features a high concentration of townhouses in Art Nouveau and other fin-de-siècle styles.
Zurenborg is a unique neighborhood, developed according an urbanistic plan in the late 19th century.
Art Nouveau houses are interspersed with neoclassical mansions and other eclectic architectural styles throughout Zurenborg.
These include Gothic Revival, Neo-Renaissance, Greek Revival, Neoclassical, and the "cottage style" that coincided with British Tudorbethan architecture.
The Dageraadplaats square in the north section of Zurenborg transformed from a neighbourhood shopping area into one of the most popular dining areas in Antwerp, and the art nouveau manions in Zurenborg draw high numbers of visitors and tourists.

We highly recommend the place! A nice house in a really beautiful area, very close to public transport, and a lovely square! We did not meet Mathieu but the communication went very smooth and the key pick up was also very easy!
Staying at Matthieu's appartment (6 wks) has been extremely pleasant! I would definately reccomend this place, also for longer stays. The appartment is exactly as sunny and charming as can be judged by the photo's. Communication beforehand and during the stay was excellent. Fresh bedlinnen and towels were provided at request.
The neighboorhood is central, though quiet and family-friendly: playground and bars/restaurants at 50 mtrs at Dageraadsplaats, supermarket, organic shop and bakery all at walking distance - a real joy!
The kitchen is equipped rather limited, adequate for a single user. Some of the furniture (couch, arm-chairs) need a fix/replacement. The single bed is fine for a child, but not very comfortable for adults.
This is a nice flat with nice fireplace and good located not far from city center.
About Matthiew personally I would say he is very friendly host (showed a lot of stuff on the map, advised some restaurants , etc).
However we canceled our stay there and moved to the hotel.
At the evening we came back home and after 15 minutes I started to hiccup (I have allergy on dust). Seems to be nobody cleaned the room professionally (meaning not only to throw away general garbage, but vacuum / chemical - water cleaning of all flat (everywhere) .
There was lot of dust in under the beds for example. Also the windows are hadn't been cleaned for a long time.
This appartment is situated in a nice neighbourhoud. Public traffic, a rent bike and a nice coffee are nearby at the Dageraardplaats. Inside there is a lot of light, and silence in sound and in visuals, wich i liked a lot. It's a good place to be.
Dieses Appartement ist ein charmanter Altbau in einem sehr netten Viertel. Von hier aus kann man Antwerpen sehr gut erkunden. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Mathieu himself wasn't in town at the time but his mother was very
helpful to provide us with the key and basic info. The apartment was
cute and tidy enough and in an absolutely great location! We ended up having breakfast, lunch and afternoon beer by the lovely
The apartment was great and exactly as shown (well, actually, there's a new couch). I recommend the neighborhood highly too--it is scenic, with everything you need close by (a good supermarket, laundromat, bike station, restaurants, transport).
Matthieu was great, and picking up the key, etc. was very smooth and easy.
Matthieu's flat is very spacious and his bed was the most comfortable of all the other places we've been on this trip. It was well situated in a beautiful neighbourhood and only one very shot tram away from downtown. Thank you Matthieu!
We had a really nice stay at Matthieu's place! Really convenient, the flat is easily accessible from the railway station by using tram 11 or 9. It is also walking distance. The flat itself is fairly big and can house 3 people without problem with a main bedroom and a large living room.
Matthieu was a great host, and had maps available for us to help guide us through the city. There were also towels (which is a good thing when you're already fully packed). One thing that should be noticed is that the windows let pass a lot of light during the night because of the street lights. Apart from that, no problem whatsoever. I would definitely advise you to go for Matthieu's flat!
Flat is in a nice area, very close to restaurants. Unfortunately the flat was very dusty and needed a good clean. There were no cleaning products in the flat, there was only a broom but no dustpan to pick up the dirt.
The curtain in the bedroom was of a very light fabric and the street light outside was very bright all night. Plenty of mosquitos in the flat and only 2 windows worked but these windows only opened a few inches from the top. Therefore felt like you could not get any fresh air into the flat.
Place really needs a comfortable couch. Not a great place to relax at the end of a busy day.
Probably well priced for what it is. Not really for a couple to relax in. Maybe more for a group - there are 3 beds. The flat could be great with improvements as mentioned above and would be much more inviting.
