Come visit the Bywater Neighborhood in New Orleans, from historical shotguns around every corner to live music at Kermit Ruffin's bar - Vaughn's, you will have a blast! Our restored servant quarters offers over 700 sqf. of space and is cozy and close to many restaurants, dive bars, coffee shops, parks, and studios spaces. We offer wireless internet, a fully functioning kitchen, new linens, cable, new HD 32 inch flat screen, raised cover deck with private back yard, washer & dryer and everything you need to live comfortably. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say so far. This bungalow is close to the Quarter, about 1.2 miles, the perfect afternoon walk. The shotgun and creole houses in the area are anywhere from 100 - 200+ years old and full of charm and history. I would suggest bringing a bike or two or renting them, it is a great way to get around the area. The NOLA bus line runs at end of the street.
Favs in the area: Satsuma - great coffee shop serving breakfast & lunch (try the beat and lime juice). Bachennal wine shop - amazing outdoor wine shop & patio with many cheeses and beers. An outdoor food vendor serves grilled pulled pork, amazing salads, and small plates of all kind. Mimis is a great older dive bar that serves strong ones. Fun place to hang with the neighbors and perfect for late night drinks (in the Marigny). Markys is a great beer dive for the games or just daydreaming, you will never feel alone (off Royal)...the list goes on......

Rick's place is just as described and more! The house was clean and well-decorated and little details made the stay very enjoyable. There were extra pillows, a laundry machine outside, and a nice book selection. The kitchen was stocked with basics (salt, oil, butter) as well as pots, pans dishes, a brita filter. We especially enjoyed that our dog could go to the backyard and the place was pet-friendly. The bikes were very useful: 15 minutes to the French Quarter, 5 minutes into Marigny, we even biked into Warehouse district and Garden district within 30 minutes or so. So many cute places within walking distance as well. Next time in New Orleans, we will definitely consider Rick's place again!
The house was clean and as seen on photos. The patio at the back was very nice. The neighborhood was also fine, with a pub very close and an excellent restaurant just 3 houses away. It's too far to walk to the French quarter, but the bikes did great for that. Jack, the neighbor, was very kind and helpful.
All in all, very nice.
Robert was ver friendly and easy to communicate with. The photos are accurate, and the house was warm. The house is walking distance to the French quarter, and the neighbourhood is safe & friendly.
The Bywater Hideaway was just what my boyfriend and I were looking for during our weekend getaway to New Orleans: cozy, clean, safe, and great location in walking distance from the French Quarter. The shotgun house was just as described, and Robert was very easy to communicate with. It's also nearby some great drink and food spots in the bywater. Would definitely come back to stay here next time I'm in Nola!
This is the second time we stayed at Robert's place in Bywater because the first time was so much fun. As mentioned in the first review we did, the location is great—close enough to everything but removed enough to feel like you're not in a tourist center. The place itself is really nice and captures the NOLA vibe to a tee. It's small but spacious at the same time. The backyard has been redone and is really relaxing in the morning to sit on the back porch and have coffee. Honestly, I don't see us staying anyplace else but the Bywater Hideaway in the future. As for Robert, he's really nice, incredibly responsive and did everything to ensure we had a great stay.
Robert has a great little place in a fun up and coming neighborhood. Really enjoyed walking around and visiting the restaurants and bars in the area. Place is as described and very comfy. Hope to come back in the future and maybe check out the other half of the house. Thanks Robert!
Robert was very easy to communicate with and provided clear directions and instructions.
The unit was as advertised and great for one or two people. There's a backyard area that has a stacked washer/dryer that was very handy.
The neighborhood is within walking distance of Frenchman St. and the French Quarter and there are also good restaurants a few blocks away.
One thing to keep in mind is that the unit is attached to the main house. During most of my stay, no one was in the main house so it was very quiet. The day before I left, several people checked in to the house and I the sounds really carried.
But you're not in New Orleans to spend time indoors.
I had a great stay and would recommend Robert as a host.
