The Space

Come visit the Bywater Neighborhood in New Orleans, from historical shotguns around every corner to live music at Kermit Ruffin's bar - Vaughn's, you will have a blast! Our restored servant quarters offers over 700 sqf. of space and is cozy and close to many restaurants, dive bars, coffee shops, parks, and studios spaces. We offer wireless internet, a fully functioning kitchen, new linens, cable, new HD 32 inch flat screen, raised cover deck with private back yard, washer & dryer and everything you need to live comfortably. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say so far. This bungalow is close to the Quarter, about 1.2 miles, the perfect afternoon walk. The shotgun and creole houses in the area are anywhere from 100 - 200+ years old and full of charm and history. I would suggest bringing a bike or two or renting them, it is a great way to get around the area. The NOLA bus line runs at end of the street.

Favs in the area: Satsuma - great coffee shop serving breakfast & lunch (try the beat and lime juice). Bachennal wine shop - amazing outdoor wine shop & patio with many cheeses and beers. An outdoor food vendor serves grilled pulled pork, amazing salads, and small plates of all kind. Mimis is a great older dive bar that serves strong ones. Fun place to hang with the neighbors and perfect for late night drinks (in the Marigny). Markys is a great beer dive for the games or just daydreaming, you will never feel alone (off Royal)...the list goes on......

  • The Hideaway was a perfect space for the 2 of us. Wonderful back deck, perfect little kitchen and great towels! The whole space was really livable. We rented the bikes and that made our stay the best ever. So much fun to bike to the Quarter, Frenchmens Street, the Garden District, and up to the Art Museum. Super relaxing to whiz past all of the cars in the FQ! Went to Booty's close by on Robert's suggestion and had an amazing Sunday Brunch....

  • A great spot! Very, very clean, kitchen is well stocked, location is great, and the bikes made our stay golden; the back porch is a major plus too! Robert was very responsive via phone and text when we had questions. Thanks so much!

  • Comfortable, quiet, relaxing place in Bywater neighborhood. Close enough to French Quarter - maybe a 30 min walk but plenty to check out in the immediate area. Robert responds very promptly and gives a great service.

  • What a great find! Only a mile walk to French Quarter but you'll have more fun hanging in the Bywater. Elizabeths is right across the street, Euclid Records is right around the corner and The Country Club is three short blocks away. The Hideaway is cute and you'll have your own back yard which is very private. Why stay at a hotel when you can have your own house? Robert was very helpful and always reachable. I'll be coming back! I hope soon!

  • I had been working in New Orleans for a few month, staying in the Central Business District. They stay had been great, but it was not until I moved into Robert's place that life in the city really took off for me. I absolutely loved the hideaway. Very quiet with lovely back porch. The place was clean and well decorated. Robert was such a great host. I feel lucky to have spent my final weeks there. It will be one of my best memories.

  • Lovely, quiet place with a great back porch. Easy to get in, good communicator. And so close to all the by water best.

  • Clean, comfortable space with a lot of character. Staying in Bywater added so much more to our experience. Loved watching the anoles run around in the private backyard and getting brunch at Satsuma. Robert was friendly, kind and informative. Recommend a stay here any time.

  • Clean and comfortable. Fruit and snacks provided. It was a little cold when I was there and there is no central air/heat in the cottage (not to be confused with the main house). But most of the year, I'm sure it isn't an issue. Very nice restaurant less than a block away. Great for breakfast and they serve good, strong drinks. You will probably want to rent a car though you can find restaurants and bars within 6-8 blocks but the place is on the outer fringe of things. I walked during the day by myself but as with any part of New Orleans you need to be alert. The shower/water pressure was good which is always one of my biggest concerns!
