Interaction with Guests
The bulk of my interaction with guests occurs when they arrive. After the initial meeting, I find that guests are generally pretty busy so the interaction decreases quite a bit. However, I am always available and am willing to assist when/how I can.
My neighborhood is vibrant, diverse, accessible, and growing! In the last year we have added two new coffee shops (iMunch and The Monkey and the Elephant), and a new sandwich shop (RyBrew). This is in addition to the diners, Jamaican, Soulfood, and of course the pizza and cheesteak stops. By mid-summer we are expecting a new micro-brewery and "Pizza Brain" restaurant (responsible for the world's first Pizza Museum). The growth is exciting and the people around it are awesome!
There are several modes of public transport within 1 block of my house. The 15 trolley (access to Broad St. Subway line); the 48, 7 & 32 buses (access to downtown/center city with 15 minutes).
No pets, no drugs, no weapons, no additional guests, no loud music.
This space was very nice--we had the entire third floor to ourselves, and we especially enjoyed the super-relaxing jet spa bath, especially after a long day of walking around. The walk-in shower also felt pretty luxurious, and the bed was comfortable.
The neighborhood is, as others have noted, in transition, so my sister and I did not want to walk around too much at night by ourselves. Also, Girard street sounded busy during rush hour, so it might not be ideal for light sleepers wanting to sleep in on weekday mornings.
We didn't get to meet Angelica, but Gary was very accommodating, and his kids were adorably helpful. Overall, while we may go with a different neighborhood/street next time, we had a pretty nice stay.
Phillip was very nice, as was the apartment. My only recommendation is to ask Phillip to turn on the air before you arrive if your stay is during the summer.
The best hosts! Gave us some advice on the area and were very friendly.
Really enjoyed the place, has its own floor for the guests. Everything was very good quality and it has a nice balcony to chill out on. Highly recommend.
The space is nice, separate from the rest of the house, with a nice private deck. Two downsides: when we tried to use the jacuzzi, dirt(?) was dislodged from the jets and we decided to skip it; second, when we got home Philip's brother was in the apartment--he was perfectly nice, but we would've liked to know to expect him, given that we thought our hosts were out of town.
The jacuzzi tub often goes weeks, if not months without use. As a result, dust builds up inside the jets and will emit when they are eventually used. Our apologies for this and we will work to remedy for the future. My brother often comes to check on the house if we happen to be out of town and especially if there are airbnb guests staying in the home. At no time was the entire house offered as part of our agreement, or to any guests for that matter, nor was he ever in or near the private space that was guaranteed to you and your friend. In fact, he only spent time in the kitchen, a common space, and offered assistance to you, your friend and the unregistered men you brought back to the property after discovering that you lost your (email hidden) in West Philadelphia.
Phillip & Angelica were amazing hosts. Their place is very welcoming and feels like home. We brought bicycles with us and they were let us keep them inside for the night too! The location is great. We would definitely like to come back!!

About the Host, Phillip
I work for in administration for The School District of Philadelphia. I'm energetic, friendly and a welcoming host. I'm extremely active as I enjoy biking, hiking, running the "Rocky Steps" learning new things and meeting new people! I love to travel and when you visit you will most likely meet my three children that live with me. Don't fret, they're quiet, friendly and have separate space away from the designated airnbnb space.
Most guests find my space to be comfy and private. Feel free to stop in, stretch out and enjoy your stay in Philadelphia- at my place, of course!

1) A clean separate space
2) A friendly host
