A house like no other! Classic Thai wooden house with a true country rustic feel. Perfect for some peace and bonding with nature. Our huge grounds with a pavilion on the water offers a once in a lifetime holiday experience for big groups and kids.

The space

Tucked away from the city nestled amongst green rice Padi fields - Baan Banana is a tranquil sanctuary where worries literally melt away.

Stay at Baan Banana and you will be able to experience why it is so unique and special - because it is truly a house like no other! Baan Banana could easily have been a modern-looking concrete house like a luxurious villa with a swimming pool. Search through the Internet and you will see that houses like these are a dime a dozen.

However, we wanted something that will offer a once in a lifetime holiday experience - and Baan Banana is the answer!

Fondly called Baan Banana (Banana House) because of the many different types of bananas we have planted - we offer a memorable holiday experience especially for large families and groups who love lots of space and to bond with nature.

Located outside the city yet close enough; Baan Banana is less than a 30 km drive from the city/airport. With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the house comfortably sleeps 8 and can fit up to a maximum of 12-15 people with additional mattresses and sofa beds.

Perfectly ideal for large groups, the huge living space and a pavilion that sits on the water is great for family and corporate bonding. The ample grounds offers space for several outdoor activities and we even have a big pond stocked with fish for game fishing.

With about 70,000 square feet of land, Baan Banana has more than 10 varieties of fruit and vegetables for picking during the right seasons. We also have 2 very tame and friendly dogs and some small farm animals - an absolute thrill for kids to feed the animals and collect eggs! Organic farming, swimming in the natural pond and interacting with nature make it a great place to stay for families with kids.

Baan Banana also offers ample space to hold yoga retreats and cooking classes can also be organized. You can also choose to have a traditional Thai massage done in our pavilion on the water or in the comfort of your very own room.

We will host you during your entire stay and will also help you plan a wonderful and memorable holiday with the many different activities available in Chiang Mai.

Volunteering at homes and shelters can also be arranged and is highly encouraged for those who will like to do their bit of charity.

Guest access

Full access to the house with 4 air conditioned bedrooms. Minimum 3 nights stay with special rates for long term stay.

A fully equipped kitchen to cook up a storm.

Breakfast is provided once upon check in; after which all other meals, housekeeping and full laundry services are available for a small token.

Baan Banana is equipped with cable TV, DVD and high speed Wifi access with our compliments.

To ensure you have a holiday of a lifetime, we will be present together with the housekeeper to assist you at any time during your stay.

An English speaking guide is also available upon request.

The house is located about 30 minutes away from the city by car (depending on traffic) and guests will need a car to get around. Vans can be arranged for bigger families and groups at a special rate.

We will plan a full itinerary before your arrival if needed and will be present together with the housekeeper to assist you at any time during your stay.

Baan Banana is a 70,000 square foot property. It houses a teak bungalow and a large natural lake. There are many house pets to play with - they include 2 large dogs, 2 smaller shitsus, 2 house cats, 2 plump rabbits and a few free roaming chickens. It is therapeutic to wake up to the sound of the cockerel and to walk along the perimeter of the lake in the morning. There is plenty of greenery and there are of course banana trees, longan trees and dragonfruit trees.

We booked this place based on the many good reviews as I had a group of 15 pax ranging from 2 years old to 75 years old. This house is about 30min away from the airport but our host KLin was in communication with me way before the trip and all activities (including transport) had been well reserved and arranged. Though the driver can't converse much English, it is not a problem as KLin always in touch with us via the driver and it all turned out well. It is our first trip to Chiang Mai and my family had a really good time staying at Baan Banana. The kids enjoyed chasing the chicken, pluck some fruits (longan, dragon fruit, custard apple, mangoes) playing with the dogs (Dum & Hero) and cats. My dad and my brothers enjoyed fishing and according to the host we were very lucky as we managed to catch 10 fishes throughout our stay there. Morning we prepared breakfast before we head out to the different activities. KLin also recommended a few places for lunch and dinner throughout the stay. We certainly enjoyed the dinner at Paak Dang which is owned by the host. The food was great and I especially love the tamarind duck and the red curry duck legs. My family actually wish we can stay longer in the house as it was just so relaxing, plenty of space for the kids to run around and my teenage son actually had his first fishing experience in Chiang Mai. Thanks again KLin for the lovely place and we hope to return soon.

This is one special place, unlike any other places we have stayed at with AirBnb. The property is huge and the architecture of the house and the pavilion beautiful. We were a group of 3 friends, and we really enjoyed just hanging out in the living room space on the ground floor in the afternoon. Overlooking the pond, the fruit trees and vegetation over a couple of beers, and a fantastic conversation with the hosts K-Lin and Max to learn about their work in Chiang Mai, it was a fantastic change from our usual urbanite lifestyle. Pear the housekeeper made sure that the kitchen was stocked with coffee, biscuits and instant noodles. If guests stop by at a supermarket before arriving to stock up on other groceries, there should be little reason to leave the house for a while. Although we did in the evening as we wanted to check out the Sunday night market. K-Lin arranged a driver for us and it was a comfortable 30 min ride to town for dinner and the market. We were there at the house on a warm weekend and it was fine, but if it ever got too warm, the living space upstairs with the bedrooms is well air-conditioned and equipped to escape the heat! We think this property would be perfect for a family or a group of friends who like to get in touch with nature and are looking to unplug from the pace of urban life !

Baan Banana is the dream house you always think about. Nice, big lake (it's actually a fish pond, but play along with me), wooden architecture, quiet surroundings, and a lovely wind at night. It is such a comfortable place, and fit 9 of us very well. There are sufficient mattresses available for 9 people to rest comfortably. The place may be far off from the city, but that's the beauty of this place. Rest in, wake up late each morning, enjoy taking a jump in the cold, but beautiful, fish pond. K-Lin also arranges van transport for you, should you need it (additional expenses, of course). As for the host, K-Lin, she is the best host one can ask for. Friendly, helpful and always going the extra mile. She was there to welcome us when we checked in, and was always online when we had questions. She made sure she checked in on us regularly while we were in Chiang Mai, and she even helped us plan our itinerary while we were there. She was always helpful, even trying to accommodate our last-minute requests! Thank you so much, K-Lin, truly appreciate it! Baan Banana is the place you want to stay at for your next visit to Chiang Mai!

K-Lim's Banana house is one of a kind, especially for city folks like us! The house is fantastic for children as there are fruit trees, small animals (dogs, cats, chickens and rabbits) and a HUGE fish pond. The location is not near the city centre so I would suggest doing all the shopping, exploring and dining before going back to rest. Otherwise, the kitchen is well-stocked to cook a meal, just stop by any supermarket to pick up some meat and veggies. Although the host does not stay nearby, K-Lin, was always around (online) to check on us and answer our queries. She also helped us to book the mini bus and activities. There's a gardener and a helper in the compound. The helper helped us with the washing of the dishes and children laundry. We also had dinner at K-Lin's restaurant. Worth trying if you can get a table. It was full house on that night that we were there. The only regret I have is the stay was too short. My kids were reluctant to go home!

Baan Banana is a little resort situated in the sleepy hollow of a village far away from the madding crowd of the town. Quietness of the place is the hallmark. The sleeping accommodation there is adequate, and with a stretch of imagination, so is the living quarters. However, the acute want for sustenance and absence of transportation may prove to be a hindrance to those who may have an inclination to pay Baan Banana a visit.

Response from K-Lin:
Thank you for staying with us at Baan Banana and as you rightly said, the tranquility and natural surroundings are what makes Baan Banana special. We are able to achieve this because we are tucked away from the city. As such, we always recommend all our guests to rent transport for practicality and convenience.
