I'll start by saying this was my first ever airbnb stay, and I'm so happy with the experience. Max, who coordinated our stay, was very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. He showed us around the house, had a welcome letter for us with some basic instructions and restaurant recommendations, and even had some snacks set out for us. The room was more than we expected, very comfortable bed, great speakers for playing some music, fully stocked bathroom with soaps and clean towels, and the private entrance was great for us since we were out late and didn't want to worry about waking others. We were mostly just at the house to sleep, the rest of our time was spent exploring Austin and looking at houses since I am working on relocating there. I chose this listing because of it's location (close to where I am looking to live) and it's phenomenal reviews. The neighborhood was great, so many restaurant options close by and Zilker park is just a short drive away. This room is a fantastic value. I'd highly recommend staying here and will be back if I ever need a place to stay in Austin again! (Also, I accidentally left a shirt of mine in the room, and Max was kind enough to mail it back to me).
This is my second time staying at the Lotus House, our first in this downstairs room. As before, Max was very easy to deal with, our room very comfortable, and the house's atmosphere was open & relaxing. We got everything we needed and slept really well. The bonus was the desk & printer for my hubby's computing needs. This room was warm even on a cold November day. We decided one morning to walk/hike to the nearby Barton Creek greenbelt (entrance behind the elementary school) - it's highly recommended! Here are a few other fun things that we crammed into our 2-night trip: UT football game (they won!), dinner at Bouldin Creek Cafe, bike ride along LadyBird Lake (on the brand new boardwalk !), movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema on 6th St, breakfast at Taco Xpress, lunch at Stiles Switch BBQ (second best in town - if you don't care to wait in line at Franklin's/La BBQ for hours in the cold), hike at McKinney Falls on the way out of town. No time for Yoga Yoga, I'll save that for my next trip! I sure hope Lotus House will be available for booking when we come back...
My son and I stayed in this house to go to Austin City Limits. The house was clean, the host (Max) was very friendly, and our stay was great. It was a manageable walk to Zilker park to the festival. The neighborhood is quite, and pretty. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Alyson and Max's house is the epitome of Austin cool. Room was large and clean, and the bed was super comfy! Stayed here for Austin City Limits and rode our bikes to and from. Great location and great hosts!
The reservation process was smooth and welcoming, with a lot of good information about local activities and dining. The room was very comfortable and private; the neighborhood is quiet, and street parking was easy to find. The location is very accessible to the wonderful Barton Springs and Zilker Park, as well as downtown.
Our Lotus House stay was very comfortable and our hosts were always available to help.
Alyson and Max were great hosts. Their house is in a really safe and quiet neighbourhood. It's only 15/20minutes on the bus to downtown. It was perfect for our trip to sxsw. We would happily stay again!

I am an explorer at heart. I have lived and worked in various countries, teaching English as a second language. I now teach and import, which still keeps me traveling. But alas, I keep coming back to Austin to live and I love it! I stay active with yoga, potlucks, dancing, and any new experiences. The Lotus House is a sanctuary for me and my house mate, Max. He travels as much as I do and we love co-creating these experiences on airbnb together.
