Enjoy a comfortable, private bedroom and bath in a 2/2 apartment just minutes from UF Health Shands Hospital, UF campus, VA and professional schools. Room comfortably sleeps 2 (full bed) plus optional twin airbed. Fully accessible kitchen and WiFi.
Private spacious bedroom and bathroom in a modest 2/2 1000 sqft apartment with full-size bed and optional twin-size airbed. The home complex is modestly aged (exterior and interior hardware), but the interior space and access is refreshing, cozy and always clean!
Your own private bathroom and private bedroom. Full access to kitchen with hot brewed coffee, tea and snacks always available (Keurig also available but please provide your own K-cups, if desired). Hairdryer and all linens provided. Free WiFi but no subscription to cable/Netflix/etc. Clean community pool available year-round. No W&D in apartment but coin laundry available on property.
Interaction with Guests
After work and exercise/gardening, I am usually home in the evening cooking, reading, sprucing, or playing with my foster rabbit. You'll have access to the kitchen and I am very happy to offer suggestions for local dining and entertainment. Quiet privacy is always available and enjoyed here. LGBTQ friendly.
A good video on the culture of Gainesville: "This is Gainesville" (YouTube).
Neighborhood Pros: Everything! Quiet, convenient, well-situated location, plenty of parking.
Neighborhood Cons: Modestly-aged building exterior, limited number of restaurants in walking distance (~8 sitdown/fast food within 1 mile).
Ground floor apartment that is optimally located 3 miles from I-75 with walking access to UF Health Shands Hospital (0.5 miles), VA Hospital (0.5 miles), Professional schools (vet, med, dental, etc, 0.5 miles) and UF campus/Stadium (0.5 to 1.3 miles depending on campus location). Located next door to the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge (0.05 miles), Ronald McDonald House (0.25 miles) and Downtown (2 miles). Walkable dining is limited but available.
Plenty of free, safe parking on premises. Gainesville is a mostly car-required city with the exception of on-campus access. Campus parking can be burdensome and expensive; easily walk onto campus, to the hospital, or any of the professional schools. Downtown access is best via car (2 miles) or on foot/bike via the safe converted Depot Avenue Rail Trail (access begins 0.5 miles away). The ShandsVan offers a free shuttle pick-up next door at the ACS Hope Lodge to the Hospital and RMcD house. Several public bus stops also located 0.25-0.5 miles away.
Other Things to Note
A very friendly curious foster rabbit lives here "Roger" who stays in his own crate in the living room when no one is home. He does not have access to bedrooms and has a very docile, non-intrusive, sweet manner. (Note: Foster rabbits "Riley" & "Niko" mentioned in some reviews were previous fosters.)
We don't smoke here; we compost, recycle and maintain an open, quiet, comfortable home environment. The kitchen is fully accessible, pantry items *not* included, and it is expected that you will clean up after use. Please be tidy. Guests should not bring guests home.
Please bring up any needs or concerns - we will make it work!
The full-size bed comfortably sleeps 2 adults, a third adult/child would be accommodated on a twin-size air mattress.
I am an eco-minded energetic working professional at UF Health Shands Hospital. I enjoy cooking, fitness, reading, gardening and eating my way around town. Before moving to Gainesville a few years ago I lived across the SE United States (Atlanta, Athens, Memphis) and abroad (New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and France). I've made friends around the world and enjoy hearing stories and getting to know others but also appreciate quietude.
