Interaction with Guests
After work and exercise I am usually home in the evening cooking, reading or sprucing. You'll have access to the kitchen and I am very happy to offer suggestions for local dining and entertainment. I enjoy running stadiums at The Swamp and am glad to take you with me. Lastly, quiet privacy is always available and enjoyed here. LGBTQ friendly.
A good video on the culture of Gainesville: "This is Gainesville" (YouTube)
Ground floor apartment that is optimally located 3 miles from I-75 with walking access to UF Health Shands Hospital (0.5 miles), VA Hospital (0.5 miles), Professional schools (vet, med, dental, etc, 0.5 miles) and UF campus/Stadium (0.5 to 1.3 miles depending on campus location). Located next door to the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge (0.05 miles), Ronald McDonald House (0.25 miles) and Downtown (2 miles).
Plenty of free, safe parking on premises. Gainesville is a mostly car-required city with the exception of on-campus access. Campus parking can be burdensome and expensive; easily walk onto campus, to the hospital, or any of the professional schools. Downtown access is best via car (2 miles) or on foot/bike via the safe converted Depot Avenue Rail Trail (access begins 0.5 miles away). The ShandsVan offers a free shuttle pick-up next door at the ACS Hope Lodge to the Hospital and RMcD house. Several public bus stops also located 0.25-0.5 miles away.
Other Things to Note
A very friendly foster rabbit lives here "Riley" who stays in her own pen in the living room when no one is home. She does not have access to bedrooms and has a very docile, non-intrusive, sweet manner.
If you are traveling with pets we can happily discuss feasibility.
We don't smoke here, we compost, recycle and maintain an open, quiet, comfortable home environment. The kitchen is fully accessible, pantry items *not* included, and it is expected that you will clean up after use. Please be tidy. Guests should not bring guests home.
Please bring up any needs or concerns - we will make it work!
The full-size bed comfortably sleeps 2 adults, a third adult/child would be accommodated on a twin-size air mattress.
I just stayed a night at Jessie's place and it was wonderful. Her house is so warm and cozy and Jessie is a very welcoming and friendly host. She also gave us great recommendation for food. I loved chit chatting with her and getting to know her a little bit. For all those who are looking for a nice quiet time with some great company.. This is the perfect place to be. Her pet rabbit Riley is so adorable too..I was lucky enough to witness a cat-rabbit showdown and needless to say the rabbit won :D.. The experience was short but so much more than what I expected .
Thank you Jessie for making mine and Debra's stay so comfortable and enjoyable. :)
Jessie is an extremely warm and welcoming host and offered help whenever and wherever she could. I was there while attending a conference at UF and it felt good to get back to a place that immediately felt home after those long days at the conference and that let me recharge for a few hours until the next day.
The room and bath are as described and pictured and everything is clean and tidy.
Jessie has been guiding us at every little difficulty even before we reached her. She is a very warm and loving host. Her house is walking distance to the veterinary hospital and that was really convenient for us veterinary girls. It's fun cooking in her kitchen. Her pet rabbit Railey is too cute and loves guests in house. Most of the time Railey stayed in the guest room running in between the bags.
Jesssi is a wonderful host. It was my first airbnb experience and she has set standards high. I enjoyed staying at her place with my friends.
Wishing you a happy and healthy future ahead Jessie!!!
Lots of love.
Jessie is a great host! When I arrived, she helped me out and made sure I was comfortable from the minute I walked into her place until I left Gainesville. I stayed for eight days and I did not have any issues during my entire stay. She made sure to keep the snacks piled up and I ate them during the day while I doing my MBA Foundations review on campus. The location of her place is perfect to campus where you can walk or drive quickly to school. Jessie also provides list of restaurants and places to check out where locals like to hang out versus chain restaurants which I appreciate. She is a sweetheart and very accomodating to her guests and has the cutest bunny :)! I definitely will be staying with her again during my 16 month tenure at UF.
My stay at Jessie's place was wonderful. She has a very comfortable and roomy space with a VERY comfortable bed. Jessie made me feel welcomed and assisted me with navigating the area. Her place is also in a great location, walking distance to hospitals, restaurants, and I even walked back from downtown in under 30 min. I would certainly stay here again!
This room is even more comfortable than it looks. Cozy, clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. We really enjoyed our stay. Jessie is lovely and a natural hostess. There were many special touches that made our stay memorable. The towels and hair dryer were in a basket in our room. The shower had great pressure. The coffee in the morning was ready and available (and was also delicious). I can see why many days are booked on her calendar. Book early to get the days you want. You will really enjoy your stay there!
I am an eco-minded energetic working professional at UF Health Shands Hospital. I enjoy cooking, fitness, reading, gardening and eating my way around town. Before moving to Gainesville just over one year ago I lived across the SE United States (Atlanta, Athens, Memphis) and abroad in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and France. I've made friends around the world and enjoy hearing stories and getting to know others but also appreciate quietude.
