We are frequent visitors to Paris and this neighborhood is everything you could hope for--close to shops and the metro and an easy walk to the Eiffel Tower. The apartment is spacious and has wonderful "bones" but, unfortunately, is in need of maintenance and, again unfortunately, was not made available to us timely upon our arrival despite the fact that we provided our itinerary and were on time (the greeter was two hours late which resulted in us standing outside the apartment in the street for him to arrive), nor was the apartment clean once we got inside (dusty furniture and hair in the bathtubs to name the two biggest offenders). The Host in Paris arranged for a cleaner to come two days after our arrival, so we spent the first few hours of our arrival day cleaning it ourselves. Maintenance issues included: defective appliances (while the apartment literature asserted the appliances were nearly new), paint peeling off walls, door knobs falling off doors, cracked glass behind the range top, lamps that would not turn on, electrical outlets that did not work and extension cords running rampant across the floors (creating a safety hazard). It's a shame because it has all the qualities of a lovely apartment, but it needs the investment of some money and effort to make it worth the price charged. We acknowledge and appreciate that the Host tried to remediate where possible, but the apartment just was not up to the standard of other apartments we have rented in equally lovely Paris neighborhoods. Another plus is that they did find us a wonderful driver for our airport pickup and return who we would highly recommend. If the Host will make an investment in rectifying some of the deficiencies and ensure that access to the apartment is granted timely and the apartment is clean, then this would easily be a five star rental. As it is, I give a three star rating only because the Host did make efforts to remediate, where possible.
Absolutely loved this place! The pictures were absolutely accurate and everything was like the host said it would be! There is an amazing bakery to the left of the building and at the end of the road. Eiffel Tower was a quick fifteen min walk and Rue Mozart had a lot of great restaurants. The place is on an extremely nice and quiet street. There is no AC downstairs so the windows opened up fabulously. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to be back next year!
The location of this apartment was perfect for us - my daughter was attending a French language course at Paris International School which was a short walk away. We had been to Paris several times but this was the first time we stayed outside the tourist districts and it put a new and pleasurable dimension to the experience. You can still get to all the sights quickly via the metro (a short walk away) but are in a genuine family neighbourhood (though the 16e is considered a bit pretentious by some Parisians - we didn't find that at all - people were friendly, helpful and tolerant of our limited French). Maybe this is not for a first visit to Paris - but if you are looking for a more genuine experience something like this is great. The apartment is very spacious and comfortable. There is however a tight spiral staircase linking the two floors which could be an issue with small children. It is also a bit tired (door handles falling off, hand held showers in the bathtubs) but everything works and it has all the appliances you need - except air conditioning - which in a hot and sticky July was a downside. The wonderful glass wall that straddles both floors and lets in the morning light would however be great in spring and autumn - and even probably winter (no shortage of central heating panels). The apartment is full of books and art which gives it a real charm that adds to the overall experience. It is on the 5th floor - but there is a lift (the small, creaking French kind). The street is very quiet (by Parisian standards). The usual conveniences of French life - bakery, bar, restaurants and so on are all a short walk. Especially for an extended stay (we were there 3 weeks) this is a good choice.
My husband and I shared this spacious 2 level apartment with close friends of ours and were captivated by the charm and location of this unique apartment. Host in Paris were flexible in meeting us at our 9:00 pm arrival & arranging a taxi for our early 7:00 am departure. The owner's eclectic art coffee table book collection provided an enriched environment reflective of Paris' rich cultural heritage. The furnishings and beds were comfortable and the location was close to shopping and Metro as well as RER, The apartment was also quiet and promoted restful nights. We would certainly consider re-booking this apartment.
