We tend to give our guests their privacy after checking in. I am always just a knock or a phone call away for any needs regarding your accommodations or to give advice about the farm, restaurants, town of Canterbury, or the central NH areas.
We are out in the country and live at the end of a short dirt road. Our only neighbors are our farm critters. It is typically nice and quiet with the exception of the neighing of horses and the farm tractor's rumble.
No, a vehicle is necessary and we have plenty of parking.
Although we prefer a 2 night minimum stay, on occasion we will accept a 1 night stay.
We do not allow smoking in any of our buildings and can provide an ashtray upon request for smoking outside.
Private entrance to the farm apartment. Anytime access to the entire farm grounds, including barns, riding arena, greenhouse full of veggies, trails, fields and forest. Disc golf is right next door too!
Interaction with Guests
We routinely check in our guests, give a brief "nickel tour", and explain our farm layout. After that we give privacy, yet we are only a knock or a phone call away.
The neighborhood consists of gardens, hayfields, stonewalls and forest.
A vehicle is necessary, as we are in walking distance of farm animals only!
Other Things to Note
We offer mid week rates of $100-$119 Monday-Thursday, minimum of 2 consecutive nights. We hope to provide a peaceful haven for business folks as well as vacationers.
Living on a farm provides a unique experience. Whether it is a week of haying, a weekend horse show, a colorful sunset, or harvest time for our pumpkins and vegetables, there is always something to enjoy. Please be aware of the noises that go along with it......neighing horses, crowing roosters, the chirping of birds and idling tractors.
We have electric wires running along the inside of our fencing, please be careful as it is a powerful jolt. Children must be attended at all times they are on the grounds.
All guests must be able to climb stairs as much of the living space is on the 2nd floor.
Horseback riding is available: Pony rides for children 8 and under $25. 45 minute lessons for ages 8 and up $50. Please schedule in advance.
The pet surcharge will be due if traveling with your pet, $10/nite, $50 max per week
. We accept cash or check only.
To keep our fees low, we do not accept credit cards or PayPal, sorry if this causes any inconvenience.
Many thanks to Corinne & Craig for being such a good host. We feel very welcomed. My younger kid showed friends the pictures of playing with the pets and riding the tractor (thanks! Craig). Riding the 4 wheeler on the trail was memorable. My elder kid enjoyed the horseback riding lessons. Especially, the chance to spend a lot of precious time with the horses because we live right on the farm.
Words from the kids:
What was nice about the farm was that there were always fun activities to keep you busy like the dogs Addy, Bayler and Griffen, Elizabeth the chicken, horses & more! Cats too - Busy, Sara, Seth. Corinne is nice and always smiles when I see her. Craig is fun because he tells me fun facts about horses like, "... when the horses smell your breath they remember you forever".
My fiancée and I visited Windswept Farm during February, so we were in our own Winter Wonderland for a week. We wanted to get a feel for rural New Hampshire, and this was a perfect spot for it.
Corrinne and Craig are friendly hosts. We didn't run into any problems at all during our stay, but if we had, they would have been available to quickly resolve any issue.
I wondered how warm an old farm house would be during this unusually cold February, but the home was very warm and this turned out to be nothing to worry about. The snow covered property looked lovely, and I suspect fall and spring would be just as pleasant.
My only regret is that we didn't take advantage of the snowshoeing trail that loops around the property.
Their farm is only 10-15 minutes outside of Concord, so you're never far from the conveniences of the city. If you're planning a visit to New Hampshire, I would highly recommend this over a run-of-the-mill hotel. You'll have a much more unique and pleasant trip.
Thanks Corinne and Craig!
We picked one of the coldest weeks of one of the worst NE winters. My daughter was able to take a riding lesson and we did brave the arctic conditions to ski and Gunstock which is only about 40 mins away.
We are looking forward to a return trip, maybe in the fall when there is not 6ft of Snow!
Thanks for making us welcome and the great communication before hand to make sure all was well.
Warm and welcoming in every way- beautiful countryside, cozy space, comfortable beds and hosts who treat you like family. A special bonus is the farm itself- Corinne and Craig's daughter Kelly is a Grand Prix dressage rider and a skilled , down to earth teacher who helped this middle aged lady start to get back into riding,. Come for Ladies Night if you are there on a Thursday.. Absolutely the most civilized way to work on your riding and get to hang out with nice horses and nice people.
Liz, I loved your enthusiasm with our farm and the horses! We need to find a place for you to move down the street, you are a great fit here :) Even though you and Angie were here on business, you both found time to relax and take in your surroundings.
Hope to see you again,
A glimpse of Heaven! The rolling hills, beautiful sunrises & sunsets, grazing horses, and lovely accommodations all contributed to a wonderful and comfortable stay at the Windswept Farm. We will be sure to return frequently in every season.
The two of us were looking for an escape from the city (Boston) for our first family vacation since the arrival of our son (only 6 weeks old). We wanted somewhere close (it was less than a 90 minute drive) and outdoorsy (there are some beautiful walks around the property), and the farm delivered. On top of that, Corinne and Craig's were so warm and welcoming that we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. We're looking forward to visiting again!
We loved staying at Windswept Farm! Corinne and Craig were easy going, friendly and welcoming. We were on kind of an extensive hike which caused us to be later arriving than we had indicated and they were very accommodating. It is a peaceful and beautiful environment and we enjoyed a walk around the property the day we were leaving. The farm is very straightforward to find which is also a plus. The space suited our needs perfectly. It was quiet despite being connected to the house and the beds were comfortable. We used the kitchen for cooking and had everything we needed. We would certainly recommend this place to others traveling to New Hampshire.
I'm a motivated and busy woman, wife and mother of 3 incredible adult daughters (and grandmother of 2 handsome little guys). I work as a homecare RN by day, and a farmer the rest of the time. Windswept is a family-run business. Our middle daughter, Kelly, is our trainer, instructor and barn manager. My husband, Craig, spends his days managing the gardens, hayfields, woodlands, mending fences and oh yes, he is a manure manager extrordinairre. I take care of the business end of the farm and often ride my sweet gray mare, Jubilee. Craig and I travel often, usually to see family and friends out west and down south. We also enjoy cooking, wine, music, movies, books and dancing,
Life is good, living on a horse farm is "our utopia", We're living our dream, and would like to share it with you.
