Balay Tuko is a bit far from the airport (as advertised) but Ma'am Tere (Theresa) patiently waited for us outside the airport even though we arrived beyond the 7 PM cut-off time. We were still given welcome drinks (fresh coconuts) even though it was already late. We were taken to Ka Inato by van by Joel himself for dinner on our first day.
The place was very serene, clean, and quite noticeably well-maintained. The feel was somewhat rustic asian I guess... We maximized use of the indoor pool, which seemed always clean and clear, and table tennis facilities, with paddles and balls already provided on the side. There was also a mini library and some comfy tables and chairs outside each room for some peaceful reading. If we had time, we could have inquired about the sailing opportunity. The rooms, which were adequately spacious by the way, seem to be cleaned promptly while the occupants are away on a tour, and the towels are replaced regularly (presented with some fancy folding).
What was most remarkable was that we had a lot of requests and I don't even remember any of the staff hesitating to accommodate our needs (most often hot water for our dose of coffee early in the morning and late in the evening). I believe the cook, Marilou, can even customize your meals; just approach her but of course give enough time for the kitchen team to go to the market.
As for possible improvement, maybe a steady source of cold and hot water may be provided... (maybe a strategically placed dispenser near the rooms? I think there was one in the Resto Bar area.) Also, the aircon units usually take some time to start up and are somewhat confusing to set as wanted.
Balay tuko is recommended for people who appreciates peace and quiet. Garden is well maintained and it is quite relaxing to stay in the area. Pool, pingpong table, billiard table is a plus especially for those who wants to stay indoor. We even learned that the pool is cleaned and sanitized by salt and owner is also using solar panel for electricity. All natural and environmental friendly.
