HORIZONTE AZUL is a sailing yacht 57 feet, anchored in Paraty bay,, one minute from historic center.
The boat is my house, so I always stay on-board with you.
Two cabins can be rented,
1) I give my own cabin, one double bed, to the guests, for it has private toilets (Sorry, cold water only)
2) Private cabin, one double bed + one single bed
but when you book one cabin for you, the boat is no more available, so you are the only guests.
I prepare the breakfast only when you wake up to preserve your quietness
I can cook for you or with you, but I do not allow guests to use material by their own
The boat is anchored in Paraty bay and there is a motorised (15hp) dinghy to go on land (but plse don't abuse of this facility :) for I'm generally busy during the day and its more convenient to have lunch and diner in the city,.)
I know the greatest restaurants in the old town, but also the cheapest ones...
Internet,(on my computer, for it requires a special program)
Connections to (website hidden)and (website hidden) are not allowed.
Free international calls to fixed telephones worldwide
FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS STAY, JUST ASK ME FIRST
On this file, you are booking to stay on the boat anchored, if you want to have a day trip sailing it cannot be just for free,(the cost for me is about 450 R$ for me) and the final decision is mine (mainly depending on wind and weather conditions)
Any more questions are welcome, for I just want you to have a memorable stay here in Paradise

It was an incredible experience - our own private boat and skipper for the first time! The sky view in the night was incredible and we slept like babies in the cosy ship :) Michel is a very nice French sailor that helped us a lot in organizing tours and showed us the best places of the city! Just make sure that you are comfortable with being on a boat - you have to shower outside and it can smell like gazoline a little bit - but once you are okay with that, it is the best way to enjoy Paraty! :)
PS: Be sure to fix meeting hours with Michel in advance, because cell phone reception is very poor there :)
My girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Michel. Michel almost immediately recognized us at the bus station and helped transport our luggage to his boat and made sure to take us to a great little lunch spot on our way there.
The boat is absolutely amazing. From the moment you walk on you are almost blown away by the view from the deck of his ship of not only the city, but the entire bay and surrounding hills. The quarters on the ship are pretty spacious and in the evening you feel the gentle sway of the boat peacefully rock you to sleep.
Michel was a great host and made us these amazing breakfasts (coffee, toast, cheeses, vegetables, and lots of fresh fruit) every morning that were prepared right after we woke up. He also invited us out to an amazing night of Samba in the town of Paraty that was probably one of the best live Samba experiences I have had during my time in Brazil. In addition, he had a number of great restaurant suggestions and knowledgeable of the other activities that existed not just in Paraty, but in the neighboring towns as well.
All in all he was a very sweet host. Highly recommend and we will definitely look him up in the future when we come back to Paraty!
Will write review later
Great place to stay in Paraty! You wake up on the boat and can jump directly into the water. Afterwards you have a huge breakfast with lots of fresh fruits. Michele is a really friendly and easygoing host who gives you a lot of tips for the best places to go during the day and eat and drink at night. I would definitely recommend it to you. An accomodation you never get again!!
We had such an incredible time on Michel's boat. We didn't quite know what to expect before we got there, but there couldn't have been a more memorable way to spend our last couple of days in Brazil.
We highly recommend this to everyone. To wake up in paradise, jump from your bed straight in to the warm sea, eat a huge delicious breakfast prepared by Michel, and lie on deck watching the world go by and the stars at night. Perfect.
Going to Brazil I expected the yacht to be the least comfortable staying. It appeared to become the most pleasant and comfortable one. Horizonte Azul, first of all, is a house - big (with a bathroom, a living-room and a kitchen), very clean and extremely cozy. A house from which you can access the top beaches, buy the freshest prawns (never been put on ice), visit any of adorable islands (where you can pick up exotic fruits for breakfast). I planned to spent on board 2 nights, but stayed for 4 (only a back flight prevented me to stay longer). The host himself is one the most intelligent, amusing, interesting person I' ve ever met: amazing guide and animator, good cook, welcome host, the best companion for a sea trip. Im very pleased just after 5 days to call him "friend". And it was a blessing to see Paraty, a pearl of Brazil's cost, from his boat.
We stayed 2 nights on Michel`s beautifully restored boat in the bay of Paraty. He was helpful in picking us up from the bus station (beware, the road is bumpy and not very comfortable when carrying heavy luggage).
Michel showed us some great addresses in Paraty and made a very good breakfast which is served on the deck. All in all we had a nice stay but do know that some flexibility and patience is required when living on a boat and adapting to its captain.
how do i start?..hard to describe my wonderfull experience in the horizonte azul boat! michel is an amazing host and amazing and inspiring person, yes this is my experience, inspiring!! paraty is one of the most beautifull places in the world, in my opinion, with the colonial archiqueture, the bay with blue water....lots of cool people from all over the world...we went there in the paraty in focus festival, all the city with photografies, projections...was unique!
the boat is an experience in itself...it is a lovely boat from the 60´s, well kept, clean, confortable....has a very nice vibe, yes you fell at home there...it is michel´s house...michel´s cooks very well, his spices are amazing...a touch of bretanhe in the middle of paraty...i felt in somewere diferent, inspiring like i said, was very nice to talk with him while sipping tea, coffee or a little cachaca...bamba my husband was so happy...i felt so happy...was good to be with michel for a while..to talk about life to listen his music, to show him our music...to talk about cities, adventures, films, food...yes, after that trip my life was better, it is true, i wanted to be there in the bahia of (email hidden)rrounded by that amazing nature, in that boat again...talking with my friend michel!
hope to see you soon, you were a turning point in my life, thank you!
Wow! Michael is living the dream on his beautiful yacht! It was such an amazing experience to wake up with the sea and mountains of paraty surounding us. Micheal was a great host and pointed us in the direction for everything we needed. He introduced us to locals and even picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop. The yacht is spottless too. We would highly reccommend this little town and Micheal as a host to anyone lucky enough to pass through.
Michel´s boat was truly an amazing experience. We felt like being in paradise indeed and we alredy miss it! Michel was kind enough to greet us at the bus terminal and take us to the boat. On the following day he took us outside the harbour and show us some quiet and beautiful beaches (only accessed by boat)... and introduce us to Paraty´s night life (the improvised samba was great). Michel, thanks for making these days memorable! Sandra & Arne
