My boyfriend and I stayed at Mama Rosa's at the end of a two week trip through Italy and this was by far our favorite Air BnB. The BnB itself is set in the mountains above Positano in the lovely (and much quieter) town of Montepertuso, it is clean, bright and tastefully finished. For those who want to enjoy the beach but also escape the crowds and craziness of Positano, this place offers an ideal solution. The views are unparalleled and it is an easy bus ride down to Positano and the beach, but also easy access to hiking trails and the quieter more "natural" side of the Amalfi coast. Angelo and Melania were amazing hosts, they were so welcoming and helped us book dinners, boat rides, whatever we needed. The breakfast is fresh and delicious and I would recommend trying a home cooked meal and wine from the vineyard, which is top notch. There are also several amazing restaurants in Montepertuso. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and will definitely be returning in the future.
We had a great time staying at B&B Mamma Rosa - would definitely recommend for someone looking to have a relaxing stay in Positano. The area is a bit remote, so if you're looking to completely maximize your time in downtown (shopping etc.), perhaps this isn't the place for you. That said, if you're looking for something a bit quieter with amazing views, this is the perfect place. Angelo and Melania were so welcoming. They told us what to do and what to avoid, recommended delicious restaurants, but still gave us lots of privacy.
The apartment itself is so clean and comfortable, and matches exactly what is shown in the photos.
There's a big walk to the B&B from the street, so make sure that you bring comfortable shoes and clothes.
We fund this place as an alternative to another Airbnb we had reserved and was disappointed with. The host is very nice and helpful! The room is nice and there is a private bathroom outside the room designated for the room. The bed and the bedding is a bit dated and not very comfortable. The place is remote from the town and you must either take public transportation to get to it or have a car. The views from the room is very nice. The negative point about this place is that you have to climb 200 steps to get to it from the street and at the end of a long day it is almost unbearable! maybe the host should mention this in the description for their place.
We have the stairs mention in all our descriptions, not just on here (airbnb) but everywhere we advertise our B&B. Maybe next time you should make sure to read the full description, this is taken from our airbnb description of the room you booked (You can reach us from the road by beautiful tree-lined stairs (around 200, help will be provided with your luggage). In regards to the bed been dated, I a sorry but they are not, we replaced them 3 years ago, when we opened the B&B, so they are new, but we can take that are not your cup of tea. In regards to be remote from the centre, again we have added in our description that we are not in the centre of Positano. I am sorry that you didn't fully enjoyed your stay at Mamma Rosa
Angelo & Melania Fusco
We were already missing this place after having left this place for only a week and a half! Although it is some distance away from positano town and requires abit of stairs climbing, the total silence and amazing view we enjoy from the window and balcony of our room more than compensated it! After having been with 5 hosts in Italy, it is worth mentioning Angelo's attentiveness and sincerity in making sure we feel comfortable during our stay there. It also helps that we were given a new standalone room with ensuite bathroom and its own kitchen! The room was well furnished and decorated, and tidied on daily basis. Breakfast provided was also good and we wished we had tried angelo's mum's home cooked meals too. For guests looking for suggestion on restaurants, must try IL Ritrovo! The homemade pasta is delicious!
For a perfect experience, perhaps the host can consider allowing free usage of heater (w controlled usage as air con tends to take up the humidity of the air) and free laundry for longer stay guests.
Look forward to our trip back here! Thanks Angelo!
Thanks Melania and Angelo for a great stay in your villa in Positano. Although it was only a short time, I think we made the most of it and your help on the sights, beaches and walks to do were really helpful for us. Also we really enjoyed the amazing views while eating your breakfast and also appreciated letting us use the kitchen. Thankyou again.
I would recommend anyone looking to stay around Positano to first check out Melania and Angelo's villa which is just a short drive/bus ride away from the crowds of Positano in the small town of Montepertuso.
Had such a wonderful stay at mamma rosa B and B- I didn't want to leave!!! Angelo, melania and mamma r. Are kind, charming and attentive. They made me feel so comfortable from the very moment I arrived. I loved my room and the view was amazing! The first day I spent all day in the room enjoying their homemade organic wine and taking in the incredible view of the sea, the mountains and positano from my private balcony. I'm telling you- you will not want to leave! It is a short distance from the center of positano but after a day being in the crowds or at the beach, you will be glad to "return home" to the beautiful and peaceful mamma rosa B and B! I would return in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Angelo, melania and mamma! Everything was bellisima!! Big kiss!!!
