Mamma Rosa is a bed and breakfast situated in a small but typical village of Montepertuso, just above Positano.
It's the perfect location for an holiday immersed in the nature, at 5 minutes from Positano and its wonderful sea.
The area is very quiet and safe. Buses serve Positano, Nocelle. Parking is free.
You can reach us from the road by beautiful tree-lined stairs (around 200, help will be provided with your luggage). Due to it's exclusive position you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Amalfi Coast, the amazing Mediterranean sea, Li Galli Island (an island just off Positano, once owned by Rudolf Nureyev) and the famous Faragliaoni of
Capri all from your balcony.
Mamma Rosa double room tastefully furnished. It is bright and spacious
with a private balcony where you can enjoy breathtaking views whilst eating
your locally sourced breakfast. The bathroom is private, but not in room, just in front of it.
Montepertuso offers good services. Around Piazza Cappella there are restaurants,
taverns, bars, an off licence, a mini market and pottery workshops.
Things to do:
For trekking and hiking lovers, Positano offer some great walks
with spectacular views of the coast. The 'Trail of the Gods' (Il Sentiero
degli Dei) leading from Nocelle to Agerola towards Amalfi, is one of
these. For beach lovers you can get to Positano's main beach in
just 15 minutes by bus, and from the little harbour you can take a boat to the beaches of Arienzo, Laurito and Fornillo (you could walk to Fornillo beach, if you wish to do so).
Positano is an excellent base from which to visit Amalfi, Ravello,
Sorrento, Capri, Ischia, Procida, the ruins of Pompei and Herculaneum
(Ercolano), Vesuvius volcano and Naples.
No smoking inside the house. You can smoke on the balcony of their rooms.
Shared fully equipped kitchen, refrigerator and freezer.
Washing machine on request.
Air conditioning hot and cold.
Small pets allowed.
Children are welcome.
During the winter time you have an option to use the heating (8 hours
daily) for an extra cost of 7 EUR per day per room.
We were already missing this place after having left this place for only a week and a half! Although it is some distance away from positano town and requires abit of stairs climbing, the total silence and amazing view we enjoy from the window and balcony of our room more than compensated it! After having been with 5 hosts in Italy, it is worth mentioning Angelo's attentiveness and sincerity in making sure we feel comfortable during our stay there. It also helps that we were given a new standalone room with ensuite bathroom and its own kitchen! The room was well furnished and decorated, and tidied on daily basis. Breakfast provided was also good and we wished we had tried angelo's mum's home cooked meals too. For guests looking for suggestion on restaurants, must try IL Ritrovo! The homemade pasta is delicious!
For a perfect experience, perhaps the host can consider allowing free usage of heater (w controlled usage as air con tends to take up the humidity of the air) and free laundry for longer stay guests.
Look forward to our trip back here! Thanks Angelo!
Thanks Melania and Angelo for a great stay in your villa in Positano. Although it was only a short time, I think we made the most of it and your help on the sights, beaches and walks to do were really helpful for us. Also we really enjoyed the amazing views while eating your breakfast and also appreciated letting us use the kitchen. Thankyou again.
I would recommend anyone looking to stay around Positano to first check out Melania and Angelo's villa which is just a short drive/bus ride away from the crowds of Positano in the small town of Montepertuso.
Had such a wonderful stay at mamma rosa B and B- I didn't want to leave!!! Angelo, melania and mamma r. Are kind, charming and attentive. They made me feel so comfortable from the very moment I arrived. I loved my room and the view was amazing! The first day I spent all day in the room enjoying their homemade organic wine and taking in the incredible view of the sea, the mountains and positano from my private balcony. I'm telling you- you will not want to leave! It is a short distance from the center of positano but after a day being in the crowds or at the beach, you will be glad to "return home" to the beautiful and peaceful mamma rosa B and B! I would return in a heartbeat! Thank you so much Angelo, melania and mamma! Everything was bellisima!! Big kiss!!!

This place is so beautiful and unique. As others have said, there is quite a climb to get to the B&B, 227 steep steps- but after getting up there we agreed we would have had no problem climbing way more stairs for that amazing view! The room and bathroom are very spacious and extremely clean! Our private terrace overlooked the little town of montepertuso and the mountains, the ocean, and all the way down the Amalfi Coast- you can even see the edge of Capri Island. Melania was very helpful and sweet, she even had a bottle of champagne waiting for us to drink on the terrace (our honeymoon) She also made amazing fresh croissants every morning and had a nice breakfast set out. Theres a little bus that takes you down to Positano from the square in Montepertuso (or right outside the b&b they picked us up there a couple times) Everyone in town was so friendly and helpful- we just wanted to stay there for a week and not even go anywhere! :) Be sure to stay at least 4 nights or so in order to have a day to just relax :)
Awesome B&B! I stayed here with my sister for a few days as a base to explore Amalfi Coast and Capri and the experience was amazing! Melania was a wonderful host. She made reservations for us at restaurants and for the ferry to Capri & answered all our questions about getting around the various towns. The rooms & bathrooms were absolutely beautiful and tastefully decorated in white and beige. Breakfast every morning was so good - served in the common room with a killer view of Positano and the cliffs below. The B&B is located in Montepertusso which is a small village above Positano about 25-30 minute walk. Be ready to climb the 200 steps from the bottom of the street (in Montepertusso) to the B&B - the view from the room/balcony is so worth it. I'd definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.
The room was light, bright and just right for Positano. The view was brilliant and we very much enjoyed sitting on the small balcony in the late afternoon sunshine and having a cold drink. The room came with its own private bathroom and a central kitchen and breakfast room in which Melania provided an excellent European breakfast each morning. We enjoyed sharing our travel adventures with her other guests (she has 2 rooms for rent) Located above the village of Montepurtuso it is a 20 minute ride by bus from central Positano up into the hills behind the town. To our surprise we found that Montepurtuso has some of the best restaurants that were filled each night with the tourists from Positano coming up the mountain.
The BNB is surrounded by tiered farming land where the land owners grow grapes, tomatoes, beans and zucchini.
Melania and Roberto were just fabulous hosts, Melania helped us with our luggage on arrival and when after some very nasty weather on our last day when our ferry was cancelled arranged for us to go with Roberto in his car to Sorrento which saved us from being thoroughly drenched - thanks Roberto!. She also recommended some great local restaurants in Montepurtuso where we ate some very memorable meals.
In short, great host, great location and highly recommended!
