Get off the beaten path at this rural accommodation loaded with Kootenay style and charm, the perfect place for a single person or a couple to unwind. Private, clean and comfortable, 2-night minimum stay (3+ nights encouraged). The view is great and the livin' is easy at this fun tiny-suite. Covered flagstone patio, outdoor fireplace and (during spring/summer/fall) a unique outdoor bathhouse & shower.

The space
1. The outdoor bath-house & shower are now closed for the winter and will reopen in May of 2022.
2. In keeping with the recommendation of the BC Health Authority, we ask that our guests be vaccinated against Covid-19. Both your hosts are triple vaccinated.

About the space:
Our guests call the Lake-View Cozy Nest tiny-suite the "guest womb" because it's so snug, private and well-appointed. Think "tiny-house living" and you'll have the idea. Your indoor space includes a bedroom with a coffee station, small round table and some basic cooking utensils, and an en-suite powder room (toilet and sink).

But it's the outdoor amenities that make this place so special. From mid-May to late October our unique Kootenay-style bath-house & shower is open for guest use. Have a relaxing, romantic outdoor bath or an invigorating outdoor shower. There's a covered flagstone patio for your private use and a cute outdoor fireplace to enjoy an evening bonfire, plus lots of outdoor space to spread out, relax and enjoy the view.

The bath-house features hot and cold running water and an antique tub. The outdoor shower has cool water only as it is intended for summer use only (to cool you off).

A hot shower can always be had in our shared bathroom indoors.

Inside the tiny-suite there is a pillow-top double bed (note: the bed is a DOUBLE, not a queen), a comfortable chair with a light for reading, a round table with two stools, a coffee/tea station, a toaster-oven and a small induction cook-top. There is no fridge but we provide a cooler with ice packs. There's a counter with bar-stools at the window where you can sip your beverage of choice with a view of Slocan Lake and the Valhalla mountain range. There's a decent-sized kitchen sink on the outdoor patio, part of what we call our outdoor "camp kitchen."

We have good wi-fi service and there is cell reception here.

The Lake-View Cozy Nest is part of our farm property in rural Hills, BC. You can meet our chickens and enjoy farm-fresh eggs for your breakfast. You may see a mother deer with fawns, or a flock of wild turkeys, or maybe even a bear wandering by... join us for rural living at its finest.

Note: There is no air conditioning in the tiny-suite but a portable fan is available. The space stays cool throughout the summer because it is well-insulated and located in the lower level of our dwelling (in fact it is the coolest place of all, lucky you!).

Hills is a charming rural community of acreages and farms, located just north of New Denver, BC. We overlook Slocan Lake, a clean, beautiful lake in the Slocan Valley region. Here you can enjoy world-class hiking, mountain and road biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, beaching and water-sports... just minutes from your door. In winter, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are popular in this area. In spring/summer/fall you can enjoy our outdoor bathhouse and in winter, beautiful hot springs are just a short drive away. You'll find me a friendly, informal and helpful host. I like things clean and pride myself on providing you with a fun, well-appointed, clean and tidy, and very unique, Kootenay-style accommodation. I enjoy sharing our fantastic location and view and this beautiful area. We enjoy a great farm lifestyle. I keep busy with my volunteer role as head of an ecology foundation, as well as caring for our home, garden and my pampered chickens. I'm a community booster and an environmental activist: I helped establish our local community foundation and I'm a director of two conservation/ecological restoration charities. I've lived in the Slocan Valley for +25 years and am a huge fan of our wild and beautiful region. When you stay with us, you're just 2 minutes from Slocan Lake and situated on a network of world-class hiking & cycling trails. I work to protect the natural treasures of this area and I enjoy sharing them with my guests. When you stay at the Lake-View Cozy Nest, my mission is to provide "country solace for city folks." Guests love our farm setting, the peace and quiet, and the lake and mountain view. In spring/summer/fall everyone raves about the quirky outdoor bath-house and shower (closed in winter). I'm really proud of my heritage-breed chickens and would love for you to meet them if you want to. My style of hosting is to treat you as friends come to visit -- but you'll also have complete privacy when in your space. My nickname is "The Dutch Cleanser," you can rest assured you'll have a clean and well-appointed place to stay. When not working and volunteering, I'm an amateur musician, I play clarinet in several bands. I enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking and other local outdoor pursuits, and reading. Fave books: anything by Barbara Kingsolver, Vladimir Nabokov, Hillary Mantel... and an unapologetic fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Your host, Lorna
