It was, honestly, a lovely place. I had emergency and had to check out a day early, but Sylwia couldn't have been any kinder. Wonderful room. Would stay again!
Sylwia was a wonderful host when I stayed at her place in Jersey City for several days. She was friendly and accommodating. The room is *exactly* how it is pictured! It's a beautiful, cozy, quiet room that is perfect for sleeping and relaxing. There's a big comfy chair and an ottoman to put your feet up too, as well as a nice, large writing desk. I had some work I had to do for an upcoming History exam, and the desk was a comfortable place to get my things done. The bed is ~heavenly~ and so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it, lol. She has designed the entire room with a guest's needs and comfort in mind, that's for sure. Everything was very clean, including the cozy bathroom. She gave me two keys, one for my room's door, and the other for the front door, and I just went out and came back at my leisure. It is only a 10-minute walk via a straight-shot down Newark Avenue to the Grove Street Path station. The room is in a great neighborhood, and I felt safe, even while walking at night. I did take a cab one evening, but that is only because it was pouring down rain (and the cab was less than $6 from the Grove St Path). There are so many cute restaurants, one of them being Madame Claude, only a block away. All along Newark Avenue there are many choices for dining out. My favorite place for breakfast was Tea N Coffee Shop. It's a beautiful little spot that also serves lunch and dinner, plus Vegan, Vegetarian, and Meat-Lovers brunch all day Saturday and Sunday. They're closed on Mondays. Very reasonably priced. There's a great Italian restaurant on Newark called The Roman Nose, and so many more places to choose from. Bistro 21 across from the Grove St Path is good too, with craft cocktails if you're into that sort of thing. Sylwia's room is a great place to stay, and 10-minute trip into Manhattan (Grove St Path: 2 tracks, 1 for 33rd St & the other for WTC). You can also go down by the water at Exchange Place & take the light rail to other stops, as well as the Path to the WTC exclusively. Stay here; you won't be disappointed!
Everything was perfect. This is a nice family with kids and 2 small dogs. Room is well decorated and in fact bigger then looks on photo. Room and bathroom are extremely clean. House itself is about 10-15 minutes walk to Path train and additional 10-15 minutes train ride to Manhattan. There are some groceries and fast food options around.
my plans changed last minute and i arrived later than scheduled. but sylwia welcomed me with equal enthu. the room was nice and cosy and privacy was abundant. although it tends to get colder than the kitchen and drawing room area sometimes. sylwia let me use her utensils and everything in the kitchen so i didnt have to carry anything with me which was a big plus. the house is clean and well equipped, just the bathroom door needs to be fixed as it doesnt lock sometimes. but since there were no other renters while i was there, it didnt matter. neighbourhood is good and i felt safe even when i was walking back from the station to the house at 10pm.
sylwia was helpful with directions to everything i asked about. right from groceries to clothes to malls everything! i would recommend this listing to everyone looking for a place, mainly because i felt at home here right from the start.
I had a good time at sylwia's place. She helped me with all the requests I had and the place was close enough to the path station at grove street.
Sylwia is a very nice person. Upon my arrival, she assisted to show me around the house and also managed to answer all my subsequent queries during my stay. She was also a very flexible person when it came to my requests. When I needed to order a couple of items, she allowed me to deliver them to her house even during my absence, and she would collect the items for me. I also wanted to pay special compliments to her bedroom and her house, for it was absolutely stunning - extremely beautiful, clean and homely, and I felt so good each time I came back.
The neighborhood feels pretty safe at night. There were a couple of times when I went back past midnight and I did not feel afraid walking back alone. The only thing which would make this listing perfect is the distance to Manhattan. It was a 15 minutes walk to the Grove Street station in Jersey City, followed by a 15-20 minute train ride before you could reach the 34th St. Herald Square station in Manhattan. However, to get to World Trade Centre, it was pretty convenient (only 2 stops away). To compensate for the walking distance, there were a couple of really nice restaurants and cafe along the way! Some of them I could list are Union Republic (which sells noodles with really good broth, in a restaurant-setting), a Chinese restaurant with the name 'best local chinese...' which sells a HALF chicken with salad and rice for only $7 tax inclusive (and it tasted like one of the best Chinese cuisines I've ever had in the States), as well as a bagel store which you could get really awesome tasting bagels with cream cheese at only $1.85! Laundry services are available nearby too, and they probably cost $3 for one full load.
All in all, for the price and the value offered, it kinda outweighs the distance pretty much and I would definitely give this listing a 5-star rating.
