Location, Location, Location!
Nestled into the steep coastal hills right in the middle of Manuel Antonio, this apartment is within minutes of many restaurants, cafés and bars, as well as yoga & wellness studios, groceries, market, boutiques and activities. Only 1 mile from the main beach and the National Park.
Manuel Antonio's mountainous coastal terrain is steep and so are many of its access roads leading to the houses with the “trophy” sea-views. Our driveway descends down from the coastal road for about 85m and can be challenging for the unfit or just too much for older travelers. It is not suitable for the walking disabled.
Our guests have full access to the entire apartment, porch and terrace, parking lot and gardens. Free wireless internet and local phone calls, cable TV.

Don't feed the monkeys!
I am going to try and keep this brief (I hate reading long reviews). Our stay there was AMAZING from the moment we were picked up from the airport. We weren’t quite sure what to expect (Airbnb newbies). The place was clean (housekeeper every other day), the view was spectacular and the wildlife was literally outside our door ☺. Both Thomas and Angie were very accommodating and made our experience one that we’ll never forget. Everything was so close, we didn’t even need to rent a car – if needed, the bus ran regularly. The daily hike up the stairs was worth it – we loved it and would recommend it to anyone thinking about staying in Manuel Antonio CR
From the moment Angie met us and we walked in to Casa Lunatica I felt relaxed and instantly at home. The apartment is immaculate, the beds comfortable and it has everything you need. I loved finding some coffee, a couple of beers and milk in the fridge, very thoughtful and a nice touch. The kids (big and small) enjoyed the visiting cheeky Monkeys that came to the balcony and the views were incredible. Laying in the hammock reading a good book was high on the list of activities here. Thomas is a great host and was always on hand to help. We had a memorable time here and the kids say it is their favourite place to stay on our trip to date.
Thomas and Angie are very professional, which makes the rental of this home such a pleasant experience. Thomas and Angie were both very receptive to phone calls, text and emails. Angie met us at El Avion and drove us to the home, no getting lost. Angie is like sunshine, a person that just makes you feel good. Angie arranged two tours for us at the last minute and the tours were excellent. The home, itself, is gorgeous, the view is amazing and I loved that the kitchen was fully stocked so we could prepare whatever we needed. I cannot thank Thomas and Angie enough for making our Costa Rica experience even better. We even saw monkeys on the deck...........I loved the entire experience.
Thomas was very responsive prior to our arrival, often responding within minutes. Since our phones didn't work in Costa Rica, he suggested we get a drink at the restaurant next door and call when we arrived. That worked out well, although we waited about 45 minutes. His assistant, Angie, was very warm and welcoming and had good suggestions for activities and restaurants. The view from the covered porch and hammocks is spectacular and we enjoyed relaxing, watching the ocean and the storms rolling in, and observing lizards and monkeys on nearby roofs. The house was very spacious for our needs. There is a cleaning lady who comes every other day, and on our second day there she surprised us by arriving a bit earlier than we expected. The driveway is very steep but manageable with a four wheel drive. Overall a great location, great view, great experience!
My friend Trisha and I absolutely loved our stay at Casa LunaTica! It was exactly as described and pictured on AirBnB, and we instantly felt welcomed and at home. The apartment had even more room than we hoped for and was so comfortable with such a stunning view of the canopy, ocean, tropical storms and charming wildlife that there were days we had trouble leaving. How fun to watch monkeys, agoutis and vultures from our balcony and step over iguanas on our walkway. During one day of torrential rain, deafening thunder and spectacular lightning, we spent almost the entire time reading in our hammocks, only leaving the apartment for dinner during a two-hour break in the storm. Casa LunaTica is a reasonable walk to the beach, but so close to the bus stop that we mostly hopped a ride. It's true that the driveway is steep and only for the physically fit, but you'll end up with a Brazilian butt by the end of your stay. Fun restaurants and shops, mini markets, transportation, beautiful beach and the Manuel Antonio park are all right there. Thomas and Lili were always very responsive, as was their manager, and the maid was lovely and efficient. Considering that it was the tropics, the insects were pretty minimal, but be prepared to oust a few millipedes, house centipedes and tiny ants. Charming little geckos are everywhere, too, which might explain the rarity of mosquitos. (But don't forget the Deet!) We only have a few recommendations for the kitchen: We couldn't get the microwave to work, although we didn't spend much time trying, some larger coffee mugs would be nice, and the knives are dangerously dull. Also, there were only three forks, some of the pots have handles that are loose and the nonstick pans or too scratched up to use safely. We noticed that one of the rails on the balcony banister is loose and needs repair. Otherwise, everything was pretty much perfect and we would highly recommend a stay here. Trisha wants to go back next year with her son and I would love to go back, too. Thanks, Thomas and Lili for a great experience, my first, in Costa Rica!
Angie picked us up at a designated location and took us to the apartment. She showed us around, gave us tips, and welcomed us to Manuel Antonio. There was also fresh pineapple and 2 local beers waiting for us in the kitchen, which was a thoughtful touch.
We loved the apartment - especially the porch area overlooking the water. We spent quite a long time relaxing in those hammocks!
Everything was very clean, and organized. I would stay here again if had the privilege of returning to Manuel Antonio.

About the Host, Thomas + Lili
Moved from Switzerland 16 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green zone, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest!
My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an onsite treatment during your stay!
We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
