It has sun-beds, a furnished tent (for shade and cool) and a table for breakfast and dinner. Riad Najmati especially welcomes those who want to experience the very largely unspoilt heart of an ancient North African city renowned for its history, music, culture, architecture, vibrant life and welcoming people. From the moment Abdellah meets you at the airport or station, if requested, he will look after you and make sure your stay is enjoyable. He prepares and serves your breakfast. If requested he will cook dinners, from the menu in the riad, which has all the facilities and charm you would expect from a faithfully restored building dating back about 300 years. It is offered on a bed and breakfast basis, with self-catering facilities if required. The resident manager is usually on site, for the comfort and security of guests.

Interaction with Guests
The riad is usually let on an exclusive use basis, ie no other guests.
Occasionally the owner will be in residence.
It is 150 yards/130 metres to the nearest (very small) shops and bakery. A two minute walk gets you to the bustle of the frenetic souk which can be easily explored in foot - preferably over several days. If you want large European style supermarkets they are 5 mins in a (very cheap) taxi in the newer part Marrakesh called Gueliz. Palaces, gardens, and museums are all within easy walking distance, or a short taxi ride. Consult any of the numerous guide books: Rough Guide, Time Out, Frommers, Blue Guide, Footprint etc.
The riad has free wifi.
Cash machines (ATM's) and banks are never far away in Marrakesh.
Good priced restaurants are 5 minutes walk away, and in the large square Jame el Fna, there are numerous stalls offering freshly prepared and cheap daytime and evening meals with a very lively atmosphere. It is a sight to behold - be prepared for something very different.
The riad contains a Guests Book which gives personal recommendations to a range of cafes, shops and excursions. There is a Library.
Marrakesh Menara (RAK) is the nearest airport and it has the great advantages of being new, spacious, and only 10 minutes from the riad by taxi. Abdellah, or a colleague, will meet you, if requested. The taxi fare is 150dh which you should pay to Abdellah.
Reserving a taxi through me is highly recommended - otherwise you are at the mercy of chancers willing to see how gullible you may be to their attempts to fleece you. Furthermore they will either not know where to take you, or be unwilling to go out of their way to get you as close as possible to the riad.
There is no need to hire a car if staying in Marrakesh, but cars for hire are readily available if required. Large taxis (those permitted to go outside the city) can be hired easily, through Abdellah, for day trips at very reasonable rates. He can also obtain coach tickets for popular destinations such as Essaouria.
Mountain bikes can also be hired for exploring the Atlas, and tours can be arranged.
Other Things to Note
Pricing depends on the number of visitors, length of stay, season of year and whether you are returning guests, etc.
Access to the riad in through narrow, but flat lanes. The nearest taxis can come to the riad is 500 yards. There are no specially adapted facilities for those with mobility problems or wheelchairs. Sorry. There are two steep staircases, with handrails.
The riad has an internal, enclosed courtyard at ground level, a semi-enclosed balcony with chaise longue bed on the first floor, and a private terrace on the third level, with tent (very romantic!), sun beds and a barbecue.
Respect for local culture and customs - which is not onerous as Moroccans are relaxed and open-minded people. Commonsense, a good sense of humour, and a generous awareness this is North Africa will take you far!
Smoking on terrace is fine.
We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable four days spent at this charming riad. Richard was extremely helpful in the fun up to our trip and was able to provide lots of useful information. We found the riad to be immaculate and very comfortable. The location is perfect for anyone wishing to explore Marrakech, and is a few minutes walk from Jemma El Fna. Abdellah was incredibly helpful and was keen to provide us with lots of local knowledge. This is an excellent place to stay in Marrakech and I recommend it heartily!
We had a wonderful time staying at Riad Najmati. The architectural details were beautiful and the decorations made it feel like a home. We especially loved the light that the courtyard let in during the day. The location was fantastic too, close to a lot of the main sites, but quiet at night. Abdellah was a great host and provided is with anything we could possibly need. He prepared fantastic meals and provided us with a wealth of information for things to see and do. Richard's communication prior to the stay was excellent as well. Thanks again! We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Richard's riad is splendid. In the center of the medina, but quiet and peaceful. Richard was extremely helpful and went over our plans with us giving us valuable information and making suggestions. The house manager Abdellah is truly a special person and contributed to making our stay in Marrakech unique. The house is perfect, the breakfast excellent and the location strategic.
Riad was beautiful - true Moroccan living with an open-air Riad (covered since it was raining), modern plumbing and electricity, high-speed internet and a gorgeous view and seating area on the top floor looking over the city. We arranged a taxi through Richard to take us directly to the Riad - we HIGHLY recommend to take advantage of this no-stress option. The driver was waiting for us right as we left customs, despite our plane being delayed, and we were greeted by Abdullah, the property manager, at the Riad. Abdullah made our stay excellent - he spoke very good English, made mint tea, offered ice water, snacks, made breakfast each morning, showed us to the square, and even helped us purchase a SIM card. Richard, our host, greeted us. Wonderful host, was happy to talk to us about the local culture, answer questions we had, and also join us in conversation on our return to the Riad in the evening. Riad was in an excellent location, a few minutes walk to the Jamaa el Fna where we were able to withdraw money, get a SIM card, and try our hand at bartering with the locals. Highly recommend, we had a great time!
It was obvious from the outset you were going to like Marrakesh - coming with an open and enquiring mind, and a generous spirit. I am pleased you enjoyed yourselves and had no regrets about the choice of accommodation. Abdellah sends his greetings and thanks you for your interest in his country.
Thank you for your positive feedback. I do not believe in air conditioning on grounds of heath and ecology, but electric fans were provided for each bedroom and elsewhere in the riad. The property listing makes it clear there is no a/c. I am sorry if you were not cool enough.
This beautiful gem in the heart of the Marrakech medina is worth a visit. Our accommodations were very much to our liking due to the comfortable rooms, accessibility to the medina, and lovely rooftop terrace that offers privacy and a relaxing ambience. Families on a first visit to Marrakech may prefer to stay here, rather than couples, as this riad offers many resources to those intending to explore the area. The housekeeper, Abdellah, is friendly and of great help to travelers. Our group was simply passing through, but we certainly felt at home in Riad Najamati.
