About this listing
Right in the heart of the world's most exciting city! Cozy room, homey kitchen, brilliant host, what more could you want?
You'll have your own room in this amazing, remodeled 43rd Street Times Square tenement— Grand Central, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Penn Station and connections to all three international airports are just minutes away! If you want to save money on restaurants, I'm a gourmet cook and will host a meal for you—complete with wine, for enough to cover the food and expense, or you are welcome to use the kitchen. You'll get all this, not to mention being just a block from The Great White Way: Times Square! I am a licensed New York City Tour Guide and can show you the intimate details of "The City That Never Sleeps" as you would have never thought possible. Of course, full Internet, parking and an eye-opening vista from the rooftop! So, what are you waiting for? Give us a call and come on over. I may even be able to get you into the David Letterman show and help you bid for tickets at the Broadway shows around the corner – not to mention the TKTS booth! : -)
Full Internet/WiFi, kitchen, bath, living room and an AeroBed if you need it!
Interaction with Guests
As mentioned I'm a licensed New York City Tour Guide so let me know what your interests are and I'll be able to create a custom exploration of the worlds greatest city –just for you! Architecture, science, literature visual arts, sports or entertainment--I can hook you up. Get ready for a vacation or business trip you'll never forget!
This is the most convenient neighborhood on earth! Since it's right in the heart of Times Square – just of the border of Hells kitchen – you'll find yourself within 30 minutes of any of the city's most famous attractions including the waterfront, Broadway, and museums. We're across from the Port Authority, down the street from Grand Central, and just a few short blocks from Penn station! Look up the street and you can see the trees of Central Park. It doesn't get more convenient than this :-)
Not only are we right across the street from the NYC Airporter stop (LaGuardia and JFK) and Newark airport bus stops at the Port Authority bus terminal, we are just up the street from Penn station from where the Long Island Railroad and Amtrak embark. You just need to take a short walk down the street to Grand Central for the MTA Hudson River lines for quick excursions out of the city upstate! The Woodbury Commons outlets bus is just two blocks away :-) All subways are right here on 42nd St. as well as the cruise ship terminals just a few blocks away. This is New York baby!
Other Things to Note
Your room is located in a restored 1890s tenement. This means despite its compactness, the high ceilings and ample light make this space a treasure since it's on the corner. Also since we're in the back you won't believe how quiet it is. As I write I can hear the sparrows singing :-) Sometimes the only thing you'll hear at night are the Central Park horse and carriages clip-clopping back to their barns!
We are a Christian household and enjoy wine with meals, sophisticated music of all genres, and intelligent conversation. Welcome! We also take credit cards for additional services such as guided tours, meals, etc!! :-)
This was my second time staying with George which speaks as an excellent review in itself. George was again very helpful with directions and advice about the city (he knows everything about the city!). George makes a wonderful breakfast which is an event in itself! He is very kind and generous and makes you feel like a VIP guest! He also leaves you to your own devices if that is your preference. This is the perfect place to visit NYC…
I was unable to stay with George due to a last minute inconvenience but my friend stayed there instead and he was certainly pleased with the overall experience.
According to him George was a delight and extremely helpful and knowledgeable in the NY ways. He was kind and friendly. The listing was accurate and the location was very convenient as well.
All in all, we would recommend this place with no hesitation.
George made us feel very welcome by spending a lot of time with us and giving us invaluable insider tourist information. He enriched our New York experience greatly. On our first day he walked with us to orient us to the Times Square area.
The room was small but this was listed and explained clearly on the Airbnb site.
The location was fantastic.
George supplied a nutritious and healthy breakfast- ensuring there was granola, fresh fruit salad , yoghurt, and good coffee and tea available every morning.
George is a personable and thoughtful host: breakfast with fresh fruit and coffee, hand-written notes with suggestions of places to see and things to do and many helpful tips along the way. He is also an authentic New Yorker and tour guide, who has lived and worked there for many years, and who is proud of his city and knowledgeable of its history.
Staying with George was part of a memorable New York experience for us. The small, but neat and accommodating, apartment is in an 1890 tenement building right near Times Square. It was a great place to walk to shows and boat tours, with easy access to transit to anywhere else. You are immersed in the City the moment you step out the door.
George is a really great host. He is a fount of local knowledge, will do anything and everything for you (carry luggage through streets and stations, take laundry, boat and bus tours etc.etc.) and he always makes a super breakfast. His place is the last tenement building standing in Times Square and makes for a unique and convenient stay. Definitely recommend - great way to experience NYC!
It was my first time to NYC in June 2015, and my first time using air b'n'b. George was very easy to communicate with before I arrived. He provided clear instructions and his apartment was easy to find. The apartment is in an excellent location, right near Times Square. It felt safe and was an easy walking distance from many NY attractions, including broadway shows. As others have mentioned, the room itself is quite small and may be better suited to one traveller rather than two. Having said that, we had two in the room and it wasn't a problem, just had to keep our bags (suitcases) in the lounge room.
You don't spend much time in the apartment in nyc because there's so much to do, but when there George is good company. He provided us with a lovely breakfast each morning which was a great start to the day. He also arranged an air conditioner for the room when I overheated (summer can be hot!!) and was very caring which I appreciated. So it was hot in the room but I think that can be/ is being addressed. There are some flights of stairs up to the apartment which aren't really trouble but just something to be aware of if you have heavy bags or physical troubles.
Overall this apartment is about location and hospitality, moreso than "mod cons" if that makes sense. It's small but friendly and I enjoyed my time with George and my first time visiting the big city.
We're happy Jacqui enjoyed her time (email hidden) Own Time's Square Room! Cool! It is a special and wonderful space! As Jacqui said, an air conditioner was placed in the room as immediately as soon as she mentioned a day trekking around NYC had overheated her. (Jacqui's stay was in Springtime, not summer. :-) We are always are used to having two travelers in the room but Jacqui changed her request adding a male friend so special last minute arrangements had to be made. When they are not a couple the hideaway bed is not used and the room is arranged differently. We go out of our way to insure that our guests are happy, comfortable and safe—as we're glad Jacqui said she felt!
George est un hôte très sympathique et intéressant. Il fait son maximum pour vous aider. La semaine a trop vite passé !
