Neighborhood highlights

What we love the most is that our block of Belmont Street is an unimproved, narrow gravel roadway that magically and instantly takes you out of the city environment into a quiet garden of flowers standing in a crown of cedar trees from the neighboring Mt. Tabor Park. Perpetual migrations of birds relaxing on the mountain share the songs with us in our little oasis.

We live in an epic Portland neighborhood (Tabor Heights), on top of Mt. Tabor - a dormant and lovely volcano covered with delicious Cedar trees and home to large birds of prey, owls, rabbits, woodpeckers and a multitude of songbirds. Mt. Tabor is one of Portland's destination parks - extensive hiking trails, awesome dog park and kids park.

Top Portland eatery, coquinepdx.com is across the street. They've recently occupied the adjacent space, where they've established a delightful, brilliantly stocked Eurocentric market, with coffee and pastry service. Their market is open Monday through Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For dinner, reservations are recommended.

Ciao People! I love traveling and I LOVE even more being a host of travelers - whatever brings you on your journey, work or love or experience! I started traveling by myself when I was 18 in 1989. Long before there was email and all of the cool things to support backpackers today, I had traveled many places; I survived and thrived because people gave me food, took me around, gave me lodging, rides to the airport and took care of me when I got sick. So, I am always looking for the opportunity to help people out on their journeys! My greatest travel passion is visiting national parks in eastern and southern Africa - so far I have been to 17 parks and I am in love with African wildlife and cultures. But besides Africa, I love SE Asia culture - especially the food; I love Italian culture - especially the language; and, more than anything, I want to go to Mongolia, Bhutan, Khazakstan and Wales. I am very much into the Slow philosophy as a lifestyle - I am an avid gardener and adventurously good cook. My biggest dream is to travel the world via dirigible. As your host at PandaFaerie House here in Portland on Mt. Tabor, you will always find local roasted micro lot organic fair trade coffee or organic hand picked tea, a nearly complete Charles Bukowski collection for your reading voyeurism and a totally friendly greeting committee comprised of my dog, Bunny aka TACO.
