Best tasting pure water on the island!!!

The Guest House is connected to the Hawaii County, water system. The Keaau water system receives it's water from deep water wells that tap into the Island's aquifer, thousands of feet below the surface of the island. The water is naturally filtered by the island's layers of solid lava rock, yielding a pure and sweet tasting water. This water is rigorously tested for its purity by the Department of Water Supply.

You will not be drinking or bathing in questionably tainted rain water that is collected from the roof of a home catchment system when you stay here. Purified Water Dispenser at the kitchen sink and refrigerator ice and water dispensers are provided for your added safety and peace of mind.

The specially constructed home was designed for cool & comfortable island living by thermo-dynamically circulating the interior air currents within the two story building. The State of Hawaii, and the University of Hawaii - Collage of Architecture, designed a somewhat similar prototype home that continues to be used as an educational model, on the University of Hawaii's Manoa Campus located on the Island of Oahu.

Two large 360 square foot bedrooms on the second floor
Bedroom 1 (Queen size bed)
Bedroom 2 (two Full size beds)
Half Bedroom (two Twin size roll a-ways) on the ground floor (off the living room)
Bathrooms on the ground floor and 2nd floor - with tub and shower combination.

The half bedroom off the living room with the two twin size roll away beds is created by partitioning sound absorbing office panels for quiet comfort and privacy.

An additional 370 square feet of lanai/covered walkway extends around 1/3rd of the perimeter of the house. There is a picnic table on the lanai that seats eight people. Also a private secluded area on the extended lanai is perfect for that morning cup of coffee for two people. A great place for two couples or a family of six or more.

Please contact us for seven or more people.

The guest house is located in the center of most East Hawaii points of interest:

Hilo International Airport 10 miles (12 - 15 minute drive).
The rugged Pacific Ocean Coastline is 4 miles away.
Snorkeling at the Wai Opae Marine Sanctuary (Kapoho Tide Pools) 20 minutes drive.

We love the Big Island, the best of all the islands in Hawaii. There are so many things you can enjoy on this island: beautiful stars, beaches, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, snow atop Mauna Kea and tropical fruits all year. We love to meet people who visit from all over the world.
