This was our first experience with airbnb and it exceeds all expectations. Morris & Yuka are TOP of the line hosts. The listing was very accurate and was everything they said it was plus so much more. We felt like "their" personal house guests. We'd definitely stay again if visiting the big island. I've already recommended this listing to several of our friends. Thank you again for a wonderful place.
It was a pleasure staying there! The house is really big, in a great location and the hosts Morris & Yuka are really helpful. Thanks for everything!
We had a great stay at the Guest House. Morris was very friendly and welcoming. The house had plenty of space for our two girls to play; there were kids toys and a stroller as well. We would definitely comeback
You need to stay here. Now. Seriously, book this place immediately. My husband and I had the best vacation of our lives at Morris, Yuka & Kyle's place. Why throw your money away on an over-priced, cold-hearted resort hotel when you can have a beautiful home with a warm-hearted family? The place is even nicer than the pictures. Morris and Yuka went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. They are the definition of Aloha spirit. Snorkeling and beach gear are provided. There are warm coats to visit the observatory and a video to watch before you go to the volcano; there's even a copy for you to take home. They have karaoke and toys for kids, even a playstation. We were provided with thoughtful treats and gifts but I won't spoil the surprise by listing them. Morris was there for us, whatever we needed or wanted. He provided us with shave ice, a Hawaiian treat.
We didn't find the place too noisy at all and earplugs are provided - along with a ton of other stuff. You can have as much privacy as you want but do take the time to get to know Morris, Yuka, Kyle and Puppy. You'll be glad you did. We will definitely go back to stay there. We were there for 3 1/2 weeks and it was still not long enough!!
As for AirBNB, please support them. We were supposed to go on this trip last year but I was diagnosed with cancer. Not only were we refunded all of our money, AirBNB sent a huge bouquet of fresh Hawaiian flowers along with some macadamia nuts as a get well gift. What corporation would do that?! Morris, Yuka & Kyle were very understanding as well and sent me kind emails asking how I was doing and how treatment was going. I'm glad I beat the cancer and my husband and I were thrilled to celebrate that, and our marriage, with them.
It's hard to imagine anyone putting more care into providing an airbnb experience than Morris has with this Hilo house. It is a complete house, fully equipped! Plenty of supplies of all kinds in the bathrooms, candles throughout the house, unlimited towels, toys and games in a kids' corner, a guitar and keyboard (wish we played!), chilled bottled water, even a champagne bucket and glasses in the master bedroom. From snorkels, masks, and coolers for the beach to sunscreen and bug spray for the rain forest to heavy jackets for an evening at Mauna Kea's star search, we had access to everything we needed for excursions. Morris gave us great advice for activities, from the lava viewing to snorkel pools to the thermal pools to the Mauna Kea observatory and restaurants. And then there were the treats: A lovely first day's breakfast (that actually stretched for several days for us), Hawaii coffee and candy, a tour and offerings from the fruits in the garden, and even a bottle of wine. We really hate to leave! Thanks for your hospitality and friendship. We hope to come back soon.
House well located between Hawaii Volcano National Park (40 min. drive), the most recent lava flow in Paloa (10 min. drive) and Hilo.
Slightly difficult to find as there is not a proper address, so make sure to read the instruction given by the host, crucial to find your way home!! House is good condition. The only minor issue is the location as it is located right next to the highway so it would not suit the light sleeper as it is quite noisy at night (I live in NYC so it was not so much a bother).
We love the Big Island, the best of all the islands in Hawaii. There are so many things you can enjoy on this island: beautiful stars, beaches, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, snow atop Mauna Kea and tropical fruits all year. We love to meet people who visit from all over the world.
