The Space

The 2000 square foot living area in the Guest House is furnished with thoughtful conveniences and nice surprises. Free Local, U.S. and Canada Telephone Service, 400 thread count cotton linen, ipod & i-phone docks, karaoke system & discs, digital keyboard, acoustic guitar & music books, washer & dryer with laundry detergent, fabric softener, espresso maker, french press, and so much more.

For the children: two high chairs, play pen, bassinet, toys, Sony Play Station 2 with game discs, and a dvd movie collection. The house is safe for children, with child proof safety cabinet doors, and safety gate at the top of the stairs. Two collapsible baby strollers, appropriate children's toys, crayons, coloring book, and construction paper are ready for your children.

Beach umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach mats, coolers, binoculars, flashlights, and beach towels are also provided.

The architecturally unique home was designed for comfortable island living and energy efficiency, by the State of Hawaii, and the University of Hawaii at the Manoa Campus - Collage of Architecture. Two large bedrooms (Queen size bed) (two Full size beds) on the second floor and one half bedroom (two Twin size roll a-ways) on the ground floor, with two bathrooms with tub and shower combination are located on each floor. The third - half bedroom off the living room with the two twin size roll away beds is created by erecting sound absorbing office panels for quiet comfort and privacy. An additional 370 square feet of lanai/covered walkway extends around 1/3rd of the perimeter of the house. A great place for two couples or a family of six or more. The guest house is located in the center of most East Hawaii points of interest, just a short 10 miles from the Hilo International Airport. Located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park Residential Area near the town of Hilo and Keaau. The rugged Pacific Ocean Coastline is 4 miles from this location. The Volcanoes National Park entrance and Hawaii
County (inactive lava flow) viewing area near the Kalapana Community are 30 minute drive from the Guest House location.

We will provide your first breakfast (one time only) of Fruit Platter, Home Made Oatmeal Belgian Waffles with coconut syrup and butter, Fresh fruit, eggs, Hawaiian Portuguese sausage, Kona or Kau coffee with creamer and sugar. A bottle of wine (red or white, fruity or dry), a box of Hawaiian Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nut Candy, Tea, Chocolates at your Bedside, and more are provided for you.

Located on an acre size lot, filled with exotic flowers, fruit trees, herbs and vegetables; guests are encouraged to help themselves to the bounty of the lush tropical property.

The municipal bus system operates a bus route on highway 130 in front of the guest house Monday through Saturday. Ear plugs are provided for those who are sensitive to the serenade of the coqui frogs at night and the low level traffic noise (please see the review from Robyn, Michelle and also, Lualani). A rental car is necessary to travel the entire island. Restaurants, food shopping, farmer's markets and entertainment a short drive north or south from the guest house.

A 4.16% General Excise Tax and a 9.25% Transit Accommodations Tax is included in the daily rental fee. A $75.00 cleaning fee is added for each reservation.

Children, babies and toddlers are considered additional guests.

Guest Access

The entry door is just 4 steps from the parking area of the home. The entire house is provided for your privacy, relaxation and enjoyment.

Each guest is warmly welcomed upon arrival. Hosts are available to assist upon request. We have recommendations and great advice to help you plan your day. Your stay is completely private without intrusion.

The Neighborhood

Located on a large acre size lot in the Hawaiian Paradise Park Community. The ocean is a close 5 minute drive from this location. Restaurants, food shopping, farmer's markets and entertainment a short drive north or south from the guest house.

Getting Around

There is an all island bus system to transport you from town to town, but a rental car is necessary to see all the special sights on the big island.

House Rules

1. Smoking is permitted outside with ash tray on the lanai table. no illegal drugs please.
2. No overnight guests in addition to your Airbnb reservation.
3. We ask that you load any kitchen items you used during your stay in the dishwasher and or wash, dry and put in its proper place.
4. Please remove your shoes before entering the house. (Hawaiian style)
5. Enjoy coqui frog sounds. (common on this side of the island)
6. Please note that the house is located near a busy road (HI130). If you are a light sleeper (sensitive to the frog or traffic noise) this location may not be right for you. Earplugs are provided for each guest. Please see guest comments and reviews.
