  • Morris goes above and beyond as a host to make our stay enjoyable. Every little detail is thought of to give us a huge surprise welcome. He is very generous in providing guests with things. The house is HUGE and beautiful! We picked vegetables and papayas right from the back yard to cook. The beds are very comfortable, linens are top of the line. Morris gives great suggestions on what to do nearby. He told us about the Military Camp Cafeteria inside the Volcano Nat'l park, great food at reasonable price (inside information;-)). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it. Thank you, Morris, for all you did for us. We'll be back.

  • Our 10 night stay was more than one could have hoped for. Our host Morris was wonderful. Everything we could have needed for our vacation was provided for. All we really needed to pack would have been clothing. Toiletries and towels were provided. Snorkelling gear, beach mats, beach towels, cool boxes for day trips etc was available for our use. A breakfast for our first day provided of local foods was a real treat. Advice on where the best places to snorkel locally or just swim. A guide to best places to eat or visit provided invaluable. Morris even gave us a discount card for when we used the local supermarket. The local farmers market was very welcoming and treated us like regulars. Try out the Chinese restaurant near Foodland. Amazing food at amazing prices. While we were at the Guest House all our needs were met at a very high level. Morris gave us some wonderful surprises during our stay and we would not hesitate to give him and his family the highest recommendation possible.

  • My advise to anyone considering a stay here is this: JUST DO IT! However, four days is not nearly enough time to see all there is on this island and definitely not enough time to relax.
Morris and Yuka are AMAZING hosts. They even put a lantern at the end of the driveway so that we could find the house after dark. The guest house was wonderful and equipped with everything you would need for a fabulous family vacation. My only regret is that we didn't have time to get to know our hosts.

  • The Guest House in Hilo is a rare exception to the saying that "if it sounds too good to be true then there must be a catch". With little knowledge of Hilo and only a vague idea of what to do during our visit we booked 4 nights and hoped for the best. Morris was very good with communication prior to our arrival. This was vital especially for finding the house in the dark on our first day. When we arrived he and Yuka greeted us like long lost relatives! What a wonderful house full of interesting features, so well-prepared and presented. And they left us some nice extras such as fresh fruit, our first breakfast and chocolates! We enjoyed meeting their dog and Morris gave us a taste test of fruit grown in the garden. He provided suggestions for places to visit and places to eat at Concise practical notes on the local area were also provided so we were able to explore with relative ease. The Guest House at Hilo met and exceeded our expectations. We had an exceptional stay here and definitely recommend it to others.

  • I traveled with my mother and my brother. Outstanding Host, amazing gorgeous huge house. I would rate it 100 stars and more, he took care of every single detail, from a tooth pick to a snorkeling gear, the house is so immaculate, super comfortable, that we wanted to stay at the Guest House and just enjoy the house itself. You will find everything you need and beyond! Morris gave us maps, brochures and tips of the Big Island and volcanoes, so much needed, he waited for our late arrival at night and came to find us in the highway. When we got to the Guest House, the table was set up with tons of delicious tropical fruit and surprises for us. He even had some natural medicine for my mom's stomach (she wasn't feeling good) which helped her tremendously!!!We cannot thank Morris and Yuka for the outstanding absolutely sweet welcome, we had the pleasure to meet this honorable host that worked every single detail to make our stay very comfortable and super happy.
Thank you thank you so much we so much appreciate you being there for us!
God bless you your family the Guest house and your land!!!!

  • Michiyo and I wish there was a 10 star rating as it is deserved. We had a great stay at Morris and Yuka's Guest House. We could not have asked for a better place to stay while we investigated Hilo and the east side of the Big Island. When we return to the Big Island the trip will be based on the availability of Morris and Yuka's Guest House. The house and the gardens were fantastic and the availability of the fruit and veggies was a great gift. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Guest House.

Just bring your shorts and tee shirts and have a great visit with Morris, Yuka, Kyle and Puppy. You will not be disappointed.

  • Whether you are travelling alone, as I was, are a couple, have the family or are with friends, Morris and Yuka's guest house has all your needs catered for. The home is fully equipped to high standard, the whole nine yards. The home is fascinatingly architecturally designed, super functional and will delight you with its user-friendliness and neat features. The home is large enough to really spread out and even has an indoor swing seat! I found it quiet even though proximate to the road. I felt very safe while there. Morris is a lovely person and knowing he and his family lived close made me feel very safe. I had a hire car so was able to zip around the area at will, and the drive into Hilo only took about 20 minutes. A supermarket is about a 5 minute drive away at Keaau. You are central to Volcanoes National Park, Pena'ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, Mac Nut Farm and Hilo. Fabulous value, fabulous place and most importantly fabulous host.

  • We had the most wonderful stay at the guest house. It was immaculately clean, was architecturally a very cool space and the hosts were the most hospitable, thoughtful and generous people I have come across. I feel so fortunate to have met them!!!

The house itself is very comfortable and completely stocked. The hosts have thought of everything from a full sewing kit to shaving cream to a blender to beach gear and coolers. They will stop at nothing to make sure you have a nice visit and have everything you need.

The grounds of the house are well kept. Morris, Yuka and Kyle grow papaya, passion fruit, kale, avocado, all kinds of spices and herbs too. They encourage you to help yourself to everything.

Everything about the hosts and house was perfect! We had a great stay and will definitely stay here again!!!

  • What can we add that other's haven't already said?!? Morris, Yuka, Kyle and "Puppy" are probably the most welcoming, helpful, and accommodating host family that we have enjoyed the pleasure of dealing with in decades of traveling and renting places around the world. We lacked for nothing during out stat. We visit the Big Island annually and consider it our "second home" and that now includes the Guest House! Lots of space for the two of us and now that we have enjoyed it first-hand we hope to introduce it to our travel friends and family. Our only regret was that we scheduled just 3 nights at the Guest House this trip. Next time it will be longer. Thank you, Morris, for introducing us to fresh-off-the tree "microwaved breadfruit", a most unexpected treat. We will be back again...and, then, we might try some pan-fried breadfruit that my wife recalls having in her youth. Oh, speaking of food, the first morning's breakfast of homemade waffles and island fruits that was provided was another wonderful convenience they thought of. Mahalo, Morris & Yuka for everything and, Kyle keep up your studies and give Puppy a pat on the head for us. Aloha!.

We love the Big Island, the best of all the islands in Hawaii. There are so many things you can enjoy on this island: beautiful stars, beaches, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, snow atop Mauna Kea and tropical fruits all year. We love to meet people who visit from all over the world.
