*The apartment is full of windows and is kept as clean as a very old building can be. There are no pests and no animals resident. I live here too (right upstairs), and that's how I want it to stay.
*Also, while this apartment CAN sleep six (or maybe even more, if you really need) after four adults it begins to be a bit small. It's a GREAT deal for a large family traveling on a budget, but I suggest managing your expectations if you're looking for a place to sleep six adults. You'll all have a soft safe place to sleep, though. :)
And please do check out my reviews!
You also have access to upstairs if you need to store your bags somewhere after checkout. Also, New York City can be overwhelming. If you're looking for suggestions on how to make the best use of your time/budget, just ask! I have a whole write-up I'd be more than happy to send you.
Interaction with Guests
I mop and vacuum and wash all linens and dust before each visitor, but please note that the place is OLD and there are stains on the floor that I cannot fix. Nevertheless, it is clean, and if there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, I live upstairs (where if you have need you also have access), and I am almost always around. I truly want you to enjoy your visit.
C'mon, you guys... ONLY a 4.5 star location?! ;) The conversations I've had just hanging out on my stoop are some of my greatest New York City experiences, and you will be welcomed to the same. There are also some wonderful restaurants and pubs nearby, and much cheaper than downtown. I've lived here for over a year and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
That said, don't be surprised if you see some scruffy characters--they sometimes help me carry my laundry bags across the street. :) There is also a homeless guy named Tony who lives on my stoop. The whole neighborhood takes care of him and he wishes everyone a "god blessed day" every day, as an added bonus. There is also a police station in the subway station next-door, for an extra sense of security.
Street parking is free and easier to find than in other parts of Manhattan. You do have to move on certain days for the street sweeper, and there is an $18/night parking garage nearby if you'd prefer to park indoors or you really can't find parking for some reason.
Next door to the A/B/C/D express subway station (no noise, it's deep underground.) Walk ten feet and zip downtown:
-One stop (10 minutes) to Columbia-Presbyterian or Yankee Stadium
-Two stops (12 minutes) to Central Park/Lincoln Center/Columbus Circle.
-Three stops to Times Square.
-Four stops to Penn Station/Empire State Building.
-Five stops to Greenwich Village.
-Six stops to West Village
-Seven stops Chinatown/Soho.
-Eight stops (32 minutes) to Financial District/WTC/Statue of Liberty Ferry
All of these, you step out in the middle of the action.
Other Things to Note
Please note that $89 is a price I usually offer if I have last minute vacancies. Prices vary by season and day of the week, but I do try to sneak in some good deals here in there, just for fun. :)
Please wash the dishes.
Leave the house as close as possible as how you found it.
No smoking indoors.
The landlady is fine with this arrangement, so please help me keep this space available by being respectful of the neighbors.
Please enjoy the place and if you have any problems or needs, make sure to ask! I want you to be happy with your stay. :)
Christy was an excellent host, answering all of our queries promptly before we arrived and very welcoming. The Appartment was perfect for what we wanted as a family of four with two kids (8&10). It was excellently located being so convenient to be able to jump on the metro and get to everywhere with small people only having to walk a short distance late at night. Christy explained the trains to us so we could get the Express train from the local stop putting us in Times Square and at the Rockerfella centre really quickly. Would definitely stay again when we're back in NYC!
Christy was an incredibly hospitable host. She was quick to reply to schedule our stay and gave us great reassurance that the residence we'd be in would be very comfy, safe, and welcoming. As soon as we got to the complex it was evident that is was very clean and well kept. It's very well decorated and definitely feels lived in. Being from Seattle, we were unfamiliar with the city and Christy was very helpful in giving us great advise on places to see, things to do and food to eat. We felt right at home in her complex and in the Harlem neighborhood. Her beds were super comfortable with more than enough pillows provided. Towels were provided for a good nights shower along with wifi. After a long day of sightseeing, this bungalo is the perfect place to want to come home to, take your shoes off and just lay down. The complex is incredibly convenient (15 minute subway ride away from all the hubbub of Midtown Manhattan plus the subway entrance is literally right next door!!) It's always warm and if it's too warm there's two AC's for your convenience. We loved the apartment and had an amazing stay. Our experience would not have been twice as great as it was if we had not stay here. We definitely would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for an affordable, cozy and convenient place to stay!
We had a nice stay in New York! The place was clean and warm, it can completely meet 6 people's need. The location was good too since subway entrance is right next to the apartment. Christy is a great hostess! She always replied me right after I sent her messages and gave us help immediately. We really troubled her a lot for the check in haha. We arrived at New York at three different time on Mar 21st so we afraid that we might have some trouble with the check in, but everything went on smoothly! Thanks for Christy we like staying here!
We had a lovely stay, with a few understandable quirks. Fantastic location, literally steps from the subway, great little coffee shop just opened a block away, and very friendly locals. The apartment was room enough for our family of four (two small kids) and Christy was very welcoming to us- not even flinching at our rascals ;) The apartment was on a central heat, with no thermostat, and I must admit to it getting pretty warm. We did open the windows a bit, which helped some, but didn't want them too open as it was snowing (end of March?!!). The place is older, but nice enough, and it was a fantastic price for the space/location. We would stay again.
This was our first airbnb experience and it could not have gone better. Christy was incredibly friendly and helpful in checking in with us and answering questions the weeks before our trip and upon our arrival was accessible but unobtrusive - we felt very comfortable and at home staying in her lovely apartment. The neighborhood is great for a family with a young child - two playgrounds within walking distance, lots of shops, affordable but excellent and varied places to eat, and close to the river where there is a picturesque boardwalk for cycling, running, or strolling. And of course the proximity of several subway stops allowed us to explore the city and be tourists. We would definitely stay here again.
we went for four nights during the firat week in march. We were five ( two kids and and three adults) The appartment was perfect for us. The beds were comfortable and it was quite cozy. The subway station is right beside the appartment wich is really good. there's a foodtown right in front of building so that's really convenient. It was a nice stay and I will come back.
An excellent located apartment! Subway really near and easy to reach all nyc areas. Felt safe and got all the help that we need from Christy. Apartment was like in description. So i would recommend. Only minus side was heating system but we were told about that beforehand.

I'm a New Yorker going on eight years now, and I love my city and my neighborhood! I'm originally from Northern California, which means most people find me laid back and friendly. Because I use AirBnB as a traveler, it's very important to me to make sure you feel like you've had an honest interaction and received a good deal for the money spent.
I've traveled all over North America, Central America, Australia, and South East Asia, mostly on my own, so I know and respect the difficulties of traveling on a budget, especially as a woman. If you're staying at my place, I'll do everything I can to make sure you feel safe and comfortable. If I'm staying at yours, you can bet I'll leave it in as good shape as I found it, or better.
I appreciate the AirBnB community!
