Historic Sugar Hill duplex apartment; private entrance with your own full bathroom and kitchen access. I am also fully Landlady Approved!
Literally next door to the A/B/C/D express subway station (no noise, it's deep underground.) Walk ten feet and zip downtown. Two stops to Times Square.
This is a large, old-but-lovely apartment in a landmarked building on Sugar Hill. It has everything you need to enjoy your visit. I mop and vacuum and wash all linens and dust before each visitor, but please note that the place is OLD and there are stains on the floor that I cannot fix. Nevertheless, it is clean, and if there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, I live upstairs (where if you have need you also have access), and I am almost always around and truly want you to enjoy your visit.
---Large foyer suitable for all your luggage.
---Complete bathroom with new bathtub.
---Complete kitchen including refrigerator, stove, pots, pans, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster.
---Tables and chairs to eat in in.
---Huge living room with shared computer, full sized bed, and space for an air mattress on the floor (included.)

---Big bedroom with full sized bed, plus room on the floor for another person on ANOTHER included air mattress, if needed.
---All towels and bedding are included.
---One floor walk up.
*The apartment is full of windows and is kept as clean as a very old building can be. There are no pests and no animals resident.
*I live directly upstairs from your room, so I am always available to help you out if you need anything. I've really enjoyed helping out visitors in the past.
*C'mon, you guys... ONLY a 4.5 star location?! ;) The conversations I've had just hanging out on my stoop are some of my greatest New York City experiences, and you will be welcomed to the same. There are also some wonderful restaurants and pubs nearby, and much cheaper than downtown. I've lived here for over a year and I wouldn't live anywhere else.
*That said, don't be surprised if you see some scruffy characters--they sometimes help me carry my laundry bags across the street. :) There is also a police station in the subway station next-door, for an extra sense of security.
*Street parking is free and easier to find than in other parts of Manhattan. You do have to move on certain days for the street sweeper, and there is an $18/night parking garage nearby if you'd prefer to park indoors or you really can't find parking for some reason.
Also, New York City can be overwhelming. If you're looking for suggestions on how to make the best use of your time/budget, just ask! I have a whole write-up I'd be more than happy to send you.
And please do check out my reviews!

I had great, awesome, nice, excellent time there. So closed to the 145th station, and the nearest store, which have many kinds of foods, drinks, snacks etc.. is open till 9pm. Christy, the owner of the house, is the nicest lady. She explained us about details and it made our stay so nice! Additionally she is kind and has a very sweet smile:) Since we stayed 3 days there in Feb, it was so cold days. Also, I could see snow at the street. However, It was warm and had a nice sleep in the house. Furthermore, because it had not only gas rings but also gas oven, we could cook many nice foods for instance, pizzas. (by the way, if you are from the other country, please take care to use gas oven. the digree of the gas oven is written with Fahrenheit digree not based on Centigrade. actually we missed lol)
The nearest store has many kinds of foods especially sold at N.Y., so if you are visitor from foreign country, please use that store and feel N.Y. or the U.S.. It makes your stay great.
Whilst not in the centre of NYC it's literally right next door do a subway station with easy access everywhere. Apartment is kept very neat with a great atmosphere. Beds are comfortable the place is warm and the host is kind and generous
I had a great time at Christy's! She was very welcoming and even agreed to meet me at 7am so I could drop off my bags (I ended up being later but the fact that she would meet me so early was awesome!). As all the others say, it's literally steps away from the Subway, which is so convenient, especially since it was in the 20's the whole trip!
There were 3 (25-year old females and 27 year old male) of us there the majority of the time, but for one night there was 4 (my parents came and a friend left) and it didn't feel crowded. It's actually pretty spacious. We didn't really use the kitchen, but it was nice to have amenities if we wanted to cook or reheat something...I did make coffee the first morning!
The hot water in the shower would go in and out, but overall wasn't an issue. I think it was due to other people in the building going to the bathroom or something.
The apartment has everything you need, and if you need something Christy is happy to get it for you. She brought us extra towels for the bathroom with no hesitation.
I think our only real complaint was the building controlled heating, but there is nothing Christy could have done about that. I guess in NYC buildings (most) the building controls the heat. So it felt like it was 90 degrees in the apartment some days, we were wearing tank tops and shorts and sweating. We opened the windows and turned the fans on and we were fine, but it would be HOT when we came in from out side.
I recommend Mountain Bird, a french restaurant a few blocks away. Everything we had was delicious and the service was great! There were 4 of us, we had 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 2 bottles of wine...the total was $137. Pretty good deal! The turkey truffle burger is outstanding, and you have to try the chicken lollipop. A good neighborhood find.
We took cabs home from the city a few times and it was usually around $40, but we were in SoHo, East Village, etc...pretty far down.
It was a fun trip and we enjoyed our stay!
Great location, great value. It was freezing and snowy when I arrived so I was thrilled that the apartment building was right next to the subway entrance. Two of us stayed in the apartment, and there was more than enough room. It is an older building so there is no way to control the temperature, but it was easy enough to crack a window and turn on the fan. I hope to stay here again!
Spacious and nicely furnished apartment in Harlem. I was very comfortable there. Christy was easy to deal with and interesting to talk with.
Very nice trip at Christy's who was a wonderful host. She waited for us despite of our capricious plane (more than 6 hours late...) and our difficulties to contact her (our phones encountered some troubles in NY). She made our life very easy the last day by making a special key for us so that we could leave our luggage to her own flat.
The apartment is great: practical (we cooked every day) and quite cosy. The two large beds are very comfortable. And the location is perfect: the subway is litteraly next door and four lines can take you to Downtown and Brooklyn. The neighbourhood is also fine: safe, nice and all the shops you need are close to the apartment.
We hope to stay at Christy's again next time we'll be in the city!
We stayed at Christy's place while we were in town to see Phish for their 4 night New Years run at MSG. The apt was perfect. The neighborhood was fun, you must try the famous seafood place a few blocks down, as well as Mama K's, and Harlem Public. The subway is about 3 feet from the front door to the apt building. I highly recommend Christy's place!
Christy was such a sweet host! She was extremely flexible with our check in and check out time. Her apartment is very spacious (we had a group of 6 adults), clean, and felt so comfortable to stay at. It truly felt like home! She has a great collection of interesting books to peruse through. We only had a day to spend in NYC but with the subway literally next door, we were able to hop around to Chinatown, Central Park, The Met, Soho, and Times Square in no time. Her apartment had plenty of convenience stores nearby as well (deli, pharmacy, take outs). People in the area were friendly too, be sure to say hi to Tony who hangs around there - such a sweet man. Hope to visit again soon!
Tutto meraviglioso!
Everything perfect! The house was really lovely, confortable, clear and with all necessary. Perfect for 4 people. The entrance to the subway is just near the main door and you're in center of Manhattan in just few minutes. The neighborhood is very calm and lively.
