About This Listing
A beautiful and calm flat in the best part of Prenzlauer Berg - Kastanienallee. Enjoy the liveliest neighbourhood in a peaceful backyard and a heritage-protected house from 1880.
We offer a very nice flat in a little house in the sunny backyard of one of Prenzlauer Berg's fanciest streets - Kastanienallee. The house is heritage-protected, it was built in 1880, a unique Berlin backyard jewel. It is very quiet, even though it's in the heart of one of Berlin's liveliest neighbourhoods - Prenzlauer Berg.
One bedroom is at your disposal. It has a double Bo Concept pullout-sofa. Sheets, towels and a dryer are provided. Also, our complete kitchen equipment can be used. Wifi is available, as well.
You'll find a comfy living room with a big TV screen and an open kitchen with a huge dining table.
The bedroom is bright and cozy, and it even has a small library with lots of interesting books to read. Anyways, let's see if you'll have the energy to read in the evening after a long and exciting day in Germany's most exciting city!
In the next surroundings of the flat, you can find lots of restaurants, pubs, clubs, theaters and Berlin's most famous Biergarten: the Prater.
The flat is very well connected to public transport: The metro U2 and the trams M1, 12 and M10 stop just a few steps away. M1 and 12 go directly to Museums' island. U2 goes to Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz and Zoo. From Tegel airport, it takes 30 min with public transport (2,40 €), from Hauptbahnhof 15 min (2,40 €) and about 45-50 min from Schönefeld airport (3,10 €).
We don't really have any house rules.
You can use all the equipment in the kitchen, tea is also provided.
You can use the washing machine, if needed.
From Mar 1 - May 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
The flat is centrally located in the Prenzlauer Berg area which is less intensely tourist-oriented than many other places in Berlin. Amenities were exactly as promised with a well-equipped kitchen; we like to do most of our own cooking. Being at the back it was nice and quiet. The Rewe, a brief 5 min walk away, was our main grocer during the stay. The Saturday market on Kollwitzplatz, a mere 10 minute walk away was also a treat. The local beer garden was closely and it was a lovely spot to spend a warm evening.
Regarding transportation, we were very close to the Eberswalder station with pretty intuitive transit-grade access to the rest of Berlin (central A-B areas).
The area in which the flat resides is historically significant as it's where the first breach in the wall occurred in 1989. Our hosts recommended we take a look at the public-access wall 'memorial' running parallel to Bernauer Str., which was well-worth a visit.
Un très bon séjour dans l'appartement d'Iskra et Lutz. C'est très agréable et idéalement situé dans Berlin. Merci à tous les deux pour leurs conseils et bonnes adresses qui nous ont fait sentir comme de vrais habitants du quartier!
Me and my girlfriend stayed at Iskra's apartment for 5 nights. Berlin is a great city and so is Iskra's apartment. First of all, this place is in a very trendy zone, Prenzlauerberg. In my opinion is the best one, since it's in the East side, very next to Mitte, and it has great bars, restaurants and the neighbourhood is really nice. Second, it's very connected. You have the train one block away and the train that stops at the building door. The apartment is great. Nice sofa bed, great kitchen and bathroom, and the best is that the apartment is very luminous since its in a separate part from the building that has this and other apartment only. Iskra has been the perfect host. It was spring but the first night was really cold. She was on holiday so I was afraid that I would never know how to turn on the heat, but she gave me very detailed instructions which made everything so easy. GREAT PLACE. IF IT'S AVAILABLE YOU SHOULD BOOK.
We, a couple, stayed for a week in this lovely maisonette. It is clean and every bit as stylish, light and spacious as it looks in the photos. The kitchen looked well equiped to us although we never cooked during our stay (apart from tea and toasts on some mornings). We loved the location: a leafy, laid back neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, cafes and boutiques on the doorstep. Great access to public transport as well. Iskra answered all my questions promptly and the collection of keys (from her friend, as she was away) was easy and straightforward. Overall, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would highly recommend this place.
Iskra was not there when we used the apartment but she was very helpful and quick with the messages in airbnb. The room is big and cosy. The bed is comfortable but a bit weird. You need to add some books (plenty available in the room) as supporting legs otherwise one person can fall. The location is great as all others say and i can confirm. Iskra's friends who gave us the keys are very cool and advised us where to rent cheap bikes. Lila's bike shop is just 100 meters away and bikes cost 5-8euro. The facilities in the apartment are clean. The only remark will be to add a curtain around the tub as it can get wet outside.
