We own a small-holding overlooking Tauranga city where we are endeavoring to be as self-sufficient and chemical free as possible. We enjoy hosting and welcome you to join us. If you are a Land Rover enthusiast, there is something here for you too.
We have a very relaxed and peaceful home so if you'd like tranquility and quiet this is the place for you - we feel very fortunate to live where we do. We have hosted people from all over the world and enjoy it immensely.
The queen sized bed is very comfortable and, for the winter, includes an electric blanket. The room comes with its own bathroom and separate toilet. The bath is double ended so if you'd like a candlelit bubble bath there's no inconvenient faucet.
If you prefer your bubbles to be in a bottle I can highly recommend 'bubbles with bubbles' in the outdoor hot tub where the view over the city is superb.
I have a home gym you are welcome to use which includes a treadmill, cross trainer and bench with weights. There is also a rowing machine. Enjoy the view to the coast while working out.
You are welcome to walk over our land and visit any of the animals you wish. If this is something that interests you please just ask. You are also welcome to use the common areas of our home.
If you have an interest in old Land Rovers Mike would happily give you a short tour of his growing collection.
Interaction with Guests
I am happy to assist you with activities you may wish to do in the area. I am also happy to be completely 'hands off'. I am a member of a local walking group so can also point you in the direction of interesting and picturesque walks.
I love my neighbors and I also love they are so far away from me. We enjoy get-togethers from time to time to 'catch up'. I couldn't wish for a more perfect community.
Please note we live in the countryside and this means you need to drive out of the city to get to us. We are 8km from the nearest shop (which is why it's so peaceful out here, no streetlights, no traffic sounds :) )
Other Things to Note
We enjoy good conversation but are equally happy if you prefer privacy.
In the room I also provide a travel hairdryer and straightener and alarm clock. Anything else you need, please just ask.
You are welcome to use our wireless broadband however we have a limited amount of data usage each month and ask that you do not livestream video content or anything else that requires large amounts of data.
Our animals and specifically our two cats are very important to us so please accept they are part of this household. The cats are mainly outdoors and in the common areas and are usually kept out of the bedroom wing at night.
Jen and Mike made us feel welcome as soon as they opened the door to us. They have a beautiful house and the location is magnificent. Jen is an attentive host and they were both very friendly and easygoing. We enjoyed swapping our stories together over our nightly meals. We were encouraged to use the kitchen and house as our own and our bedroom and bathroom facilities were stylish and comfortable. The view from the back verandah is gorgeous and the rural surroundings are very peaceful. Thanks Jen and Mike for sharing your home with us.
Wow! We stayed with Jen & Mike for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We totally agree with the guests who have stayed before us - this is an awesome AirBnb experience.
The house is comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean and photos do not do the view justice - they truly are jaw dropping.
However, what makes this a special place to stay are the hosts.
We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived and felt at home straight away. Really passionate about their way of life, they are excellent company and we really enjoyed learning about their travels and lifestyle.
The food was an unexpected bonus, all sourced from their garden and delicious.
Would definitely stay here again :O)
I stayed with Jen & Mike for 3 nights, although I'd initially booked for 2.
They were so accommodating, generous and flexible it was like I was a family member and not a guest.
Their beautiful home is a peaceful haven up in the hills with wonderful gardens and stunning views.
It is immaculately clean, warm and comfortable.
I don't know if/when I will return to NZ but if I'm in that area I will definitely be visiting again :)
It was lovely to meet you Jen and Mike. Thank you!
We were thoroughly spoiled at this farm home. The 2 fascinating cats were interesting, as were the owners with their generous & open manner, tales of travel, idiosyncratic interests, & delicious eggs at breakfast. J & W
Amazing stay in Jen's and Mike's B&B. We really appreciated the welcoming, the cleaness of the house, the view, and the quietness. Jen and Mike made us feel confortable and they were very warmful. It was rewarding to discover their way of life, and their open-mind. We also enjoyed Mike's cooked breakfast. We regreated not to stay more than one night.
Jen does all the day to day work on the property and in the house. She also have a local part-time job and is a volunteer for a community organization. Mike works full-time and studies part-time - he is the main breadwinner and Jen the bread maker!
We have quite an old-fashioned relationship and it works for us. We live a simple peaceful life where we try not to be too consumer driven but have all the mod-cons we consider necessary to live the way we do. We are daily grateful for what we have and are happy to share it with anyone who wishes to stay with us.
