About This Listing
If you want to be very close (5 min walk) to the bustling bars of trendy Mar Mikhael, yet staying in a very calm, charming, authentic street with cute shops, and get a true taste of the Beirut lifestyle, then you have found the perfect place!
This bright bedroom is part of a lofty house, with a modern open kitchen and a very cozy living space. The 1950's house has a nice high ceiling and is newly renovated. There's only one other bedroom that is mine. And since i work during the day (architect) and during the night (bar-owner), the house is totally yours most of the time :)
The sunny laid-back roof terrace, the private car parking, the kitchen, living room, its big movies collection (dvds), tv, books, and internet of course!
Interaction with Guests
I love to guide people around and give them an insider's tip on where to go and what to see, far from the touristic advices given by the books. The cool bar that I own is less than 5 min away, and I would be more than happy if you share with me a drink or more ;)
I might sound subjective to say that this is the nicest neighborhood in whole lebanon, but it is true :)
I love everything about it. Its houses, its shops, its people, its vibe. For me, its the Brooklyn or East London of Beirut.
Right around a corner there's a delicious 'mankoushe' breakfast place, a mini-market, fruit store, and a pharmacy.
-Lots of cabs & buses pass by on the parallel street (Badawi Str. & Pierre Gemayel Ave.)
-10min walk to the cafe's and bars of Mar Mikhael (Armenia Str.)
-15min walk to Burj Hammoud and its artisan's market and many little shops
-5 min drive to the National Museum and the French Institute
-10 min drive to downtown and its waterfront
Other Things to Note
-24 hours electricity
-24 hours hot water
-It's a non-smoking house, so you can kindly use the roof terrace or the garden for that :)
-It's a calm street, so you are kindly asked not make too much noise after 11pm :)
Mardig was the perfect host! I can happily verify all of the lovely sentiments expressed by others before me.
Mardig organized a taxi to pick me up and was there to greet me on arrival. I couldn't have wished for a more warm-hearted, kind host. Mardig gave me some excellent tips on where to go and how to get there. I would strongly recommend a visit to the restaurant Tawlet which is just down the road :) I also highly rate the bookstore 'Papercup', which is perfect for a quiet break.
Mardig's love for his city is contageous, and if I get the chance to return to Beirut I would certainly hope to stay with him again!
Mardig was a great host.we enjoyed very much to stay at his nice furnitured and clean apartment lying in a quiet area, foot distance or service taxi to interesting areas like Mar Mikhael, Bourj hammoud,Gemmayzeh. Nice to go to Mardigs bar just few minutes away from the apartment. We loved chatting with Mardig, Nathalie his nice girlfriend and his friend.Mardig gave us many advices to visit authentic areas as he well recognized our interests. He was very helpful so we already knew on the first day how to manage with taxis, where to get authentic breakfast just around the corner, where to find little trendy shops a.s.o.If ever we come back to Beirut, what we hope sincerly, we certainly come back to Mardig! Thank you, we had a very great time!
The apartment was exactly as shown in the pictures, in the midst of a friendly and quiet neighbourhood in Beirut, nearby tons of great cafes, bars and clubs all within walking distance. Mardig is a great host, gave me lots of advice, helped me get taxi's etc. I can definitely recommend staying at his apartment, or in one of the other ones he has to offer! Unfortunately, I needed to work for the full three weeks so I didn't get much time to spend in Beirut or with Mardig, but I hope to come back soon. Also, if you need a quiet space to work, like I did, his apartment is great as well. And there's airco, good wifi, electricity and water which, unfortunately, is exceptional in Beirut.
Mardig is an amazing host and his place is just as lovely.. I fell in love with Beirut itself ( thanks to Mardig's tips as well) The neighborhood is really trendy and full of bars and galleries, everything needed ( and more) . I recommend It 200% and if I ever come back I hope to be able to stay at Mardig's place again.. In one word: PERFECT!
I stayed with Mardig for a week, and it was what made the experience of Beirut so great. Mardig knows the best places to visit in Beirut, to keep you off the traditional touristic routes and he and his lovely girlfriend Nat made sure I visited all the latest and greatest bars and restaurants there are in Beirut.
As a host he was super nice, he ordered a taxi to airport for me and waited up on my arrival day till 4am, regardless of the work the next day. The place is as nice as it looks on the photos, and the area itself was my favourite in whole Beirut. It is filled with nice and cosy little music shops, book shops, bars and cafes, that Mardig can give advise on, and the place he owns - The Dictateur - is just down the road.
If you don't know anyone in Beirut, but want to enjoy the city life, this is the place to stay surely!
Comfortable, stylish apartment in a great neighbourhood, close to lots of fun places to eat and drink and easy to get taxis etc. And Mardig is a lovely, knowledgeable host!

Healthy tasty food! Lovely place! Tawlet is the farmers’ kitchen of Beirut. Every day a different cook from a different area tells us the story and the traditions of a region of Lebanon through food.Armenia St Beirut Beirut
