This is a spacious, clean and comfortable 2 bedroom flat that is part of a large, charming house that is characteristic of the historic Trinity Park neighborhood. Updated everything. Very close to Duke and downtown Durham.
Room for rent is the master bedroom with private access to a full bathroom. This is an old house with lots of vintage charm and many old heavy doors, which makes it possible for the guest or myself to watch TV (HBO, Netflix, ESPN, and movie rentals via Apple TV + a digital antenna that picks up most major networks) or simply entertain in the living room or kitchen without bothering the other in their bedroom. It's a big apartment, the whole bottom floor of a big house!
Everything except my bedroom and bathroom. Porch chairs pictured technically belong to upstairs tenant but they are friendly Duke Divinity students and most likely won't mind if you use them.
Interaction with Guests
I will be in and out depending on my work schedule. That includes both days and nights. I am very friendly and would be happy to provide any and all information or recommendations you need, but, in general, I am active both personally and professionally and will either be out of the house or working from home with my door closed.
This is a safe and friendly historic neighborhood.
This is one of the few areas in Durham that can be accessed fairly easily by public transit. There is a DATA bus stop at the end of the block and it's only a 10 min walk to downtown and the free Bull City Connector bus that will take you west towards Duke's main campus. Also, we are a 5 min walk from Duke's east campus where a free university sponsored shuttle will take you to the heart of west campus.
Other Things to Note
This is an apartment and there is a couple that lives in another apartment upstairs. They are very friendly and have normal 9 to 5 schedules.
Both of us must be respectfully quiet at reasonable times. Sunday and Thursday that is after 11 and Friday and Saturday it just depends, but neither of us should have an issue resting comfortably at night.
Sam is a very generous host. He's a very friendly guy and was very accommodating to our needs. The space is very comfortable and we enjoyed having a private bathroom. The house is also in an awesome neighborhood. Besides the location right next to Duke and downtown there's a couple of really great running trails nearby. I would highly recommend staying here.
